I'm here, already. I freaked myself out earlier this week, I thought the TAR finale was airing opposite the AI Final 3 performances. Whew, that was a close one.

I know! We haven't had nearly enough praying!

(Dear powers that be, please watch over Jims02 in this, his two hours of pain...)

Been a while since I've watch a Survivor/Apprentice/TAR final where I don't have to settle for a group of finalist I don't care for.

I can't say I will be disappointed with the winner tonight, two teams I can cheer and the Frat Boys to jeer, but all 3 deserving to be here.

Woo and Hoo! Must admit I'd like our polite, fun-loving, hippies to win - but I won't be terribly dissapointed Ray & Yolonda pull it off.

"Recap"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 07:55 PM
I can't believe it's almost over.

Wow, the recap reminds us why some viewers (and the Frat Boys) may miss the Double-D team.

Will the recap lst longer than the Survivor season recap? That was a brisk (for Burnett) 9 minutes.

Ah, I miss Dave and Lori. Nerds rule!

Can't say I miss Lake and Michelle, though. Good riddance.

Ah, my hippies survive two NEL legs to make the top 3. Way to go, Scooby and Shaggy.

MoJo lost their mojo.

Eight minutes, not bad. Brisk, informative.

"RE: Recap"
Posted by ARnutz on 05-17-06 at 08:07 PM
Pssst! TAR is not a Burnett show. It's Bruckheimer. That's probably why there is not a longass recap!

"RE: Recap"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:51 PM
No, I know TAR is not Burnett, just hoping the recap would be shorter than Survivor (actually, they were about the same length).

Did everyone except the hippies keep their taxis?

"Departure Times"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:01 PM
Teams depart from The Marble temple. Scenes of R/Y in the hotel they won on last leg, beds, sheets and everything. Will R/Y continue working well together or will their relationship issues resurface? Can BJ/T maintain their lead after climbing out of last place? Can E/J be able to keep their focus and take home the prize?

BJ/T: depart 11:18 pm
E/J: depart 1:21 am
R/Y: 1:28 am

Clue: take taxi to provice to Ayutaia, search for Royal Kraal, one of elephants will give teams a Sidekick which will contain their next clue.

BJ/T arrive at elephant corral. Hours: 4am - 6pm.

Unfortunately, they are going to miss the first available flight to Tokyo........

"RE: TAR9 Finale East Coast Update Thread "
Posted by mysticwolf on 05-17-06 at 08:06 PM
They all keep suggesting the fastest direct flight. The hippies need to see if there is a connect that will get in sooner.

"Royal Kraal"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:04 PM
All teams have arrived at the Royal Kraal pavilion. It opens and teams search for elephants in ceremonial garb to receive their clues.

Clue: fly to Toyko, Japan then drive to downtown Toyko. Once they arrive in downtown Toyko, drive to Shibuya and scan the big screen TVs for the one flashing the hint to the location of their next clue.

"RE: Royal Kraal"
Posted by tinybubs on 05-17-06 at 08:06 PM
Why couldn't the Frat boys get trampled by the elephants?

"To The Airport"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:07 PM
Tyler really psyched to got to Japan, he has a Japanese girlfriend, speaks Japanese.

R/Y arrive at airport. Book United flight arrives 2:15 pm. BJ/T, E/J arrive. E/J book same United flight. The flight is very full. BJ/T are shut out of United flight.

True, but they took a bus instead of driving the car, so they are going to have a penalty.

Hope the Japanese gets them a big lead.

"RE: Tyler's speaking Japanese, Tyler's speaking Japanese!"
Posted by vince3 on 05-17-06 at 08:23 PM
Apparently all 3 teams took a bus to get to the cars, and then all 3 drove the cars to Shibuya crossing's parking area.

"RE: Tyler's speaking Japanese, Tyler's speaking Japanese!"
Posted by alwaysintruble1 on 05-17-06 at 08:25 PM
I guess I need to pay closer attention then huh?

I completly missed them driving the car.

"Flying to Tokyo"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:20 PM
The United flight takes off, BJ/T decide to check Thai airlines. They find a flight that arrives at 4pm. They will be 1-1/2 hours behind other teams, hope their knowledge of Japanese will help them.

Once teams arrive, teams make way to parking lot of Hotel Nikko and search for marked cars and make way to Shibuya to scan the big screens for their next clue.

United flight arrives. R/Y and E/J take bus to the hotel. E/J talk with hotel for a map, R/Y have a map and head out. They must stop for directions along the way.

BJ/T arrive in tokyo and discuss directions with local on the bus on the way to the hotel.

E/J arrive and find the parking complex. R/Y ask directions from a toll booth operator. BJ/T driving, R/Y still trying to find directions.

E/J in Shibuya checking out the big screens. They need to figure out that 'Hachiko' means a statue in Shibuya Crossing honoring a dog, and find the man who will give them their next clue.

E/J figure out Hachiko is the clue and ask directions and receive clue.

Clue: Detour: Maiden or Messenger. Maiden: travel 7 miles by taxi to tea garden, use palinboard to carry maiden 1/3 of mile to tea ceremony to receive next clue. Messenger: travel on foot 200 yards to pick up pair of folding bikes and two messenger bags, each containing parcel. Travel through traffic to delive packages, return to bike parking lot.

E/J will do 'Maiden' so they can meet ladies.

BJ/T arrive and find parking, start scanning screens, discover clue and find statue. They will perform 'Messenger'.

E/J start their task and discover it is heavy and difficult. Tyler finds their bike shop and start their task. He thinks he's familiar with the building.

R/Y are stuck in traffic.

"Still in Toyko"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:27 PM
R/Y have not yet found the parking garage.

E/j deliver their maiden to tea garden and receive their clue.

Clue: make way to Capsuleland Hotel, where teams will find next clue. They will find taxi to take them there.

BJ/T deliver their first package. Tyler obtains directions to second building. R/Y still searching for parking garage, finally find the garage and head for the square. BJ/T find second building and deliver package and head back to bike shop.

R/Y decipher clue, find statue and receive clue folder. E/J are checking with taxi drivers for Capsuleland Hotel. BJ/T return bikes and receive clue. R/Y are performing 'Maiden'.

E/J arrive at Capsuleland Hotel, receive 9:00 am departure time. R/Y performing their task and Ray is chanting military marching chants. They complete their task and receive their clue. Their maiden has hair with many colored streaks. Just sayin'. Little punk for a geisha.

BJ/T arrive at hotel and receive 9:15 am departure. R/Y arrive at hotel and have 9;30 am departure. They arrive and the other boys are all in white robes. Ha! Sleeping in tubes!

I was saying the same thing but, so far, so good. Ray & Yolanda aren't doing so well, though. How the devil can you lose your turnpike ticket? It's not rocket science to know you're gonna need it eventually.

"Toyko Departures"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:35 PM
E/J depart in 1st Place. Clue: drive yourself to Fujikyu Highland, an amusement park at base of Mount Fuji.

BJ/T depart at 9:15am. R/Y depart 9:30am. R/Y are walking around asking for directions before they depart.

E/J stop to ask directions, a gentleman offers to lead them. E/J arrive, BJ/T only 3 cars behind and manage to pass them and arrive first.

Clue: Roadblock: who's ready to coast through their day? Three consecutive thrill rides, while on rides must spy man holding sign with message, once have finished all three rides tell park manager the message they say to receive next clue. If wrong, must perform entire task again.

Tyler performing taks. Jeremy performing task. They complete first ride and continue to second. R/Y are at toll booth and cannot find ticket so they can pay and continue.

Did both sets of guys violate the rules by virtue of all of them riding the coasters and looking for the clue? If so, that could jump Ray & Yolanda to the front of the pack.

"RE: TAR9 Finale East Coast Update Thread "
Posted by vince3 on 05-17-06 at 08:46 PM
It was only one Hippie and only one Frat boy each.

Both went back to their partners to tell them the location and relate the story of Tyler's attempted deception.

"Fujikyu Amusement Park"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 08:48 PM
R/Y still searching for their ticket. They are asked to pull to the side. They pay their fare and obtain directions from the same person.

Tyler gaining fans in line for the second ride. Jeremy calls him an 'idiot'. Neither cna see a man with a message. Tyler may have seen the message. They board the third ride. Tyler admits he didn't really see anything, trying to psych out Jeremy. Tyler sees the message, as does Jeremy. They receive clues to travel to Lake Yamanaka at base of Mt. Fuji, take duck boat across the lake to the Big Swan, pit stop for this leg of the race.

E/J plan to follow the hippies. R/Y arrive at Fujikyu Park. Yolanda will perform the task. BJ/T, E/J driving, E/J 'hate' the hippies for trying to psych them out. Yolanda riding the roller coasters, sees the clue. They head out to Lake Yamanaka, bickering as they drive.

BJ/T and E/J arrive at parking lot, BJ/T slightly ahead. It's a paddle race to the finish. BJ/T arrive first on the mat. As winners of this leg they each receive a Sidekick and 3 years of service. E/J are not very enthused at arriving second and being beaten by the hippies. Jeremy not happy that hippies playing dirty, Tyler lied to him today, it's on for the last leg.

R/Y arrive at duck boats, arrive at mat, told they 3rd team and last to arrive, but it is a non-elimination leg and all their money and possessions and taken from them. Ray assets they will have the million dollars in a short time, regardless.

"Toyko Departures"

BJ/T: 12:18 am (they leave 2,000 yen for Ray and Yolanda)
E/J: 12:20 am
R/Y: 3:01 am

Clue: fly to Anchorage, Alaska. Once there, chose marked car for next clue. BJ/T take a different highway exit than E/J, say it's a more direct route. R/Y find the money Hippies left for them. BJ/T arrive at Hotel Nikko first to drop off car, find out first shuttle is at 6:20 am, ask in hotel to use Internet. E/J arrive at hotel, find bus stop for airport, enter hotel and ask to use Internet while waiting, man at counter tells them they have no Internet service. R/Y stop at a restaurant, ask customers for money, one woman tells Yolanda she looks like Janet Jackson, the restaurant patrons give them money.

BJ/T are searching for flights. Find flight that arrives Anchorage 10:53 am. E/J are on the phone for flights, find flight through Taipai but do not appear to book the flight. E/J think hippies are an hour behind them. BJ/T enter lobby, E/J tell them they've been there an hour.

Bus arrives, E/J and BJ/T board bus for airport. R/Y are driving to hotel.

Bus arrives at airport. BJ/T try to follow E/J but they hide behind a divider. R/Y arrive at hotel and board shuttle for airport. E/J head for a ticket counter, flight through Taipei arrives 7;50 am. BJ/T change their tickets to flight through Taipei that arrives Anchorage at 7;50 am.

R/Y arrive at airport and find flight that arrives 2:40 pm, Ray pass to check on other flights.

E/J arrive in Taipei. R/Y find flight that arrives 7:50 am. They will try to get on that flight. They find out at the counter that flight is already closed.

"Flying to Alaska..."
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 09:09 PM
R/Y talk the counter person into calling to try to get them on the flight. They are able to obtain tickets for the flight. BJ/T discover R/Y are on the same flight. E/J are sitting in Taipei waiting to see who arrives. BJ/T and R/Y arrive in Taipei for connection, E/J are not happy.

All three teams are on same flight to Anchorage. It's snowing in Anchorage (surprise!!) Clue: drive 30 miles to Mirror Lake to find next clue.

BJ/T in lead, R/Y in second, E/J in third place.

So does the TAR wardrobe department make Phil wear those stupid turtlenecks, just like the Survivor wardrobe department makes Jiffy wear that silly safari shirt?

"RE: TAR9 Finale East Coast Update Thread "
Posted by MsShel330 on 05-17-06 at 09:18 PM
Are the hippies possessed by Fran and Barry? How could they keep running past the snow shoes?

"Mirror Lake"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 09:18 PM
BJ/T arrive first. Detour: Drill It or Deliver It. Drill It: traverse frozen lake, set up ice fishing camp, using auger drill 10 holes into ice, then push one shack onto ice to cover at least 2 holes. Once ice fisherman approves camp they will receive clue. Deliver it: load bush plane with medical supplies, then using map direct pilot to fly 150 miles round trip to air field, unload supplies and deliver to first aid station where doctor will give them the clue.

BJ/T will deliver it. E/J will Drill It. BJ/T are told flights are on weather delay which could be 5 days or 5 minutes, so they change to Drill it.

R/Y are lost, stop for directions, they haven't yet reached Mirror Lake. BJ/T have 8 holes, E/J are completed. E/J are pushing their shack. BJ/T complete their holes and head for their shack. E/J receive their clue.

Clue: drive to Kincaid Park, put on snowshoes and search park for next clue.

BJ/T position their shack and receive clue. R/Y arrive at Mirror Lake as BJ/T depart. They will drill. Yolanda says if she could drill with her legs instead of her arms, it would go faster since her legs are stronger than her arms. R/Y complete task and receive clue.

E/J arrive Kincaid Park. They are way too concerned about where the hippies are relative to the race. BJ/T arrive but walk past the snowshoes, actuallly walk past them twice. (Shades of Fran and Barry!!)

I can't believe the hippies missed the snowshoes like that.

"I'm surprised..."

Ray and Yolanda's taxi didn't get lost since they have been lost from the beginning of the episode.

The Frat boys would be kicking butt if it weren't for all the bunch stops.

"RE: I'm surprised..."
Posted by volsfan on 05-17-06 at 09:34 PM
I have to disagree with you here...the frat boys have been in first place almost this entire leg (or at least since the airport back about 45 minutes ago). Remember the frat boys sat there and watched as everyone else caught up with them.

"Kincaid Park"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 09:28 PM
BJ/T can't find the snowshoes, which they walked past twice. They finally find them. R/Y keep driving toward Kincaid park.

E/J are trying to follow the trails, find clue box. Clue: fly to final destination city, Denver, Colorado. Once there, travel 30 miles by taxi to Clear Creek History Park in Golden for next clue. E/J note they are instructed to lock keys in car and take taxi to airport. BJ/T find the clue box. They grab taxi to the airport.

It's dark when R/Y arrive at Kincaid Park. E/J arrive at airport, Frontier has nonstop to Denver that departs at 11:10pm. They purchase tickets on that flight. BJ/T ask driver to borrow his cell phone to book tickets. They book tickets on the same Frontier flight. R/Y find clue box and head out to the airport.

E/J and BJ/T take shuttle to Frontier departure gate. They realize they are on same flight. R/Y arrive at airport. They obtain tickets on same Frontier flight.

Flight arrives Denver, teams race for taxis. E/J arrive first to Clear Creek History Park, ask their taxi to wait, find clue which instructs them to go back to Red Rocks Ampitheater to find next clue.

BJ/T arrive as E/J depart. Tyler finds clue and they head for Red Rocks. R/Y arrive as Bj/T depart. E/J, BJ/T are in wild race to the finish.

"Finish Line"
Posted by kathliam on 05-17-06 at 09:41 PM
E/j racing to Red Rocks, both beams find entrance and clue box. E/J find blue box first. Roadblock: one person runs into field of 285 flags and find one flag for each of 9 foreign countries they visited during the race; Brazil, Russia, Germany, Italy, Greece, Oman, Australia, Thailand, Japan. Place flags in order in which they visited the countries. The placard displays flags for reference but includes incorrect flags. Teammate may guide them but may not pysically assist them. Once complete, run flag path to finish line. First team to arrive will win $1 milion.

Eric will perform for his team. BJ/T arrive at clue box, BJ will perform the roadblock.

Eric has two flags incorrect. Bj has 2 flags incorrect. R/Y still searching Clear Creek for clue, finally find. Eric has 4 correct, BJ has 4 wrong (he missed one although his others are in order).

Eric cannot remember the other flag. Eric has all his flags but order is incorrect, he must make correction. Bj/Tyler realize they forgot Russia. Eric correcting his flag order, still incorrect.

BJ correcting his flag order to include Russia. Eric trying but still incorrect. Bj/Tyler have their flags in order and race off to the Final Pit Stop Mat.

I did comment to my wife how "spoiled sport" the frat boys look. Yes it's got to be disappointing to be so close to winning a million but failing to pull it out when it counts. But show a little class when losing and not pout about it.

3rd Ray/Yolanda a.k.a. R.A.Y.

TTOW!!!!! WOOT! How's that for a bookend BT season? 1st gone in Survivor and one half of the winners of TAR!!!!!!!!!
