Which thread to post on, which thread to post on... well, this is the rare one: might as well bring the condition down with some electron stains...

Let's see, 11:30 at night, not much is open then.....

Even if this wasn't the bunch point the next place probably would've been....

We're flying to the other side of Austrailia!

MoJo cancelled the other three taxis!

"Departure Times"
Posted by kathliam on 05-03-06 at 08:01 PM
E/J: depart 11:47 pm
M/J: depart 11:48 pm
BJ/T: depart 11:56 pm
R/Y depart 12:23 am

Clue: make your way to the Swan Bells (15 miles) Tower. At the top of the tower the teams will find their next clue.

M/J catch up with E/J and borrow a cell phone to order taxis. The hippies catch up with M/J and E/J. Taxis arrive and BT/T try to take one but they are for E/J and M/J. M/J arrive at Swan Bells, open at 8:00 am. Monica asks about a place to stay overnight. The hippies arrive at Swan Bells, R/Y arrive a short time later. Smack talk among the teams. Tyler tells us that Eric has been flirting with Monica, if they can share that with Joseph it might disrupt their team.

Morning, Ray is ordering a taxi for 8am, Tyler also reserving, Jeremy reserves one under the name 'Doug Brubaker', and Eric calls and cancels Tyler and Ray's taxis.

Wow, that was a pretty, well, great move.

They got the other teams pissed at MoJo while holding up two other teams. Impressive.

Smart move. It was excellent. Race back on.

Wow, DUDE! This race is far out!

the horndogs just went below Romber on the Fair Play scale. Great move, but -- ouch. Betcha the Race will create a rule against that for next season.

MoJo has just guaranteed themselves a yield.

"First Taskl"
Posted by kathliam on 05-03-06 at 08:05 PM
BJ/T first to clue box, R/Y close behind, E/J, M/J.

Clue: find city of Darwin (1700 miles). Once there, teams find marked cars and drive to crocodile farm, wade into pool of crocodiles to find next clue.

Bj/T find taxi, but it's for Joseph, they get out. E/J realize their taxi isn't there, may have cancelled their own. Ray calls to check and realizes their taxi was cancelled, E/J play it off to MoJo called to cancel the taxis. The three remaining teams are walking to find a taxi. BJ/T find one. R/Y find a taxi. E/J (who engineered the taxi cancelling gimmick) find themselves without a taxi.

Wow, how convenient, a yield sighting.

If anyone beats MoJo there, they have to get it.

Eric and Jeremy, whether by chance or not, are showing one of the lowest and greatest TAR moves I've seen

"RE: TAR9 Ep10 East Coast Update Thread"
Posted by Fishercat on 05-03-06 at 08:14 PM
Haha, B.J. and Tyler beat them and yielded them, right in front.

In a footrace no less.

Roadblock, skydiving!

MoJo yielded, lol.

Skydiving ahead. MoJo fight at the yield site.

"On the way to Darwin...."
Posted by kathliam on 05-03-06 at 08:20 PM
E/J still looking for a taxi. Finally find one. MoJo really dislike the hippies, can't figure out why. BJ/T tell us MoJo will be the hunted come yield season. R/Y want to push Mojo into a pool of crocodiles.

MoJo arrive at airport. They want quickest flights and the ticker attendant to not tell anyone else. He wants to know what it's worth. They tell him $1million. No, what's it worth to him? Monica tells him a big kiss. Skeptical look from ticket vendor. BJ/T arrive at airport and confront MoJo about taxis. R/y arrive at airport and also confront MoJo. Joseph says it was E/J. BJ (or Tyler) says outloud there's a rumour Eric and Monica are getting close.

Flight: depart 12:15 pm departure, 7:10 arrival. All four temas are on same flight.

Teams arrive in Darwin. Park opens at 9:00 am. Bunching alert!! Tyler again ribbing Eric about being attracted to Monica. Joseph appears unnerved.

Park opening, morning. The teams must put on tall rubber waders. A guide give them tips on how to traverse the water pools.

BJ/T obtain their clue. Clue: drive 50 miles to town of Batchelor, search for airfield for next clue. Phil tell us yield will be present at next clue stop.

MoJo obtain their clue. E/J complete their task. R/y obtain their clue. 'Caution, yield ahead'.

MoJo pass BJ/T and arrive ahead of the hippier. It's a footrae to the clue box, BJ/T arrive first. They decide to yield MoJo.

Clue, Roadblock; chose a plane, climb to 12,000 feet, tandem skydive to ground below to receive next clue. BJ will perform task. E/j arrive, go off to complete task. R/Y arrive. Monica claims it isn't fair the hippies beat them to the yield mat, they arrived first.

It might make more sense to do the river -- didgeridoos require a skill called circular breathing, where you're basically inhaling and exhaling at the same time, and I don't think it's the sort of thing you can pick up in five minutes.

"RE: Didgeridoo"
Posted by mysticwolf on 05-03-06 at 10:42 PM
But, you don't have to master circular breathing to play a single note. I have one.

Hippies and Frat Boys pick "Wet" roadblock, Ray and Yo pick "Dry". I hope for their sake that Dry is faster than it sounds.

"Roadblock Task"
Posted by kathliam on 05-03-06 at 08:31 PM
Joseph claims yield won't affect them, the worst they will do is second place. BJ gets to skydive with a lady instructor. Eric is jumping for his team, Ray for his team. Monica is still crying on the yield mat, Joseph wants her to cheer up, she doesn't want to.

BJ skydives. Jeremy takes a moment to flirt with Yolanda. BJ lands and receives clue; drive to Litchfield National Park (20 miles) and find the Magnetic Termite Mounds. Here among the mounds they will find their next clue.

BJ/T depart while MoJo are still on yield mat. MoJo are bickering between themselves. Time expires and Monica will perform task for her team.

Eric skydives and he and Jeremy receive their clue. Ray jumps.

BJ/T find Litchfield Nat'l Park, find clue box.

Detour: dry or wet. Wet-drive 6 miles to roadside park, hike and swim a 1-mile course enhabited by spiders and poisonous plants to receive next clue. Dry - drive 6 miles to intersection, then 6 more miles offroad to natural rock formataion, 'Lost City', grab diggeredoo, following the sounds find a man with a diggeredoo with the same pattern and learn how to play a certain note to receive next clue.

Sounds like BJ will do wet. Monica skydives. Looks like she got a wedgie on the way down. E/J, find clue box, will do wet. R/Y arrive, will perform 'dry'. BJ/T arrive at park, don their gear and start. E/J pull up to roadside park and are 'hunting hippies'. MoJo stop to ask for directions to Termite Mounds.

Ray and Yolanda finish first and head to the pit stop. Mojo reach the roadblock just as Ray and Yo are leaving.

"Detour Task"
Posted by kathliam on 05-03-06 at 08:37 PM
MoJo are driving toward detour. Monica claims using the Yield is sleazy and that the hippies are sleazeballs. (has she hnever watched this show?)

BJ/T working on their trek. E/J trying to catch up. MoJo reach cluebox and will perform 'dry'.

R/Y arrive at 'Lost City', Ray will perform since he is musically inclined. They find an aborigine, but the pattern does not match. BJ/T encounter a 'big spider' on their trek. E/j also see it. R/Y find the aborigine with the same pattern, teaching Ray how to make the sound. Takes him a while, but he catches one. Yolanda give it a try. He approves their efforts and give them the clue.

Clue: drive yourself to next pit stop, Lake Bennett Resort. The last team to check in 'may' be eliminted.

"Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by kathliam on 05-03-06 at 08:48 PM
LAST EDITED ON 05-03-06 AT 08:49 PM (EST)

MoJo pass R/Y on R/Y's way out of the 'Lost city'. BJ/T and E/j are still working their way down the waterway. R/Y excited because they have maps and brochures to navigate their way to the Pit stop. Mojo match their instrument quickly, Joseph goes first, Monica also, they receive their clue.

BJ/T reach the clue box. E/J appear close behind. BJ/T depart first, but both teams have difficulty finding resort on the map.

R/Y arrive at the resort and step on the map in first place. They receive (each) a one-year lease of a Mercedes M-class automobile. Ray wants to make sure it's set up for American drivers.

BJ/T and Frats are sprinting and looking for directions. E/J stop, BJ/T stop and ask E/J. MoJo catch up with E/J and hippies. They are all lined up on the highway. E/J, BJ/T, MoJo in this order.

All three vehicles pull in at same time, it's a footrace, MoJo's vehicle in the rear. And they park and dash.

All three teams arrive at virtually the same time. Phil declares Eric and Jeremy team #2, MoJo team #3, and BJ/T the last team to arrive.

He's pleased to tell them this is a non-elimination round, takes their clothes and money but they will continue to race another day. Monica blah-blah-blahs about not playing with mind games or starting rumours.

eta: carp, passed 3K and didn't even realize it. what kind of DAW am I, anyway?

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by ViningsGal on 05-03-06 at 08:50 PM
What ever happened to the penalty for driving too fast? MoJo were driving over 120 mph... is that legal?

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by Estee on 05-03-06 at 08:52 PM
It could have been kph, but the Race rule is that you have to stay within the speed limit for that country. Australians may drive a little faster than Americans. (And yes, in Germany, that meant 'to the limits of the car'.)

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by Ruthless on 05-04-06 at 06:50 PM
It would be kph. The Northern Territory is the only state in Australia where there is no speed limit on roads outside of towns. So 120kph is not illegal. I wouldn't want to drive that fast out there though, in a strange car on a strange road. No way.

In other states 100kph is the usual limit, but on some of the better highways, its 110.

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by Estee on 05-03-06 at 08:51 PM
Okay, show of hands. Who believes MoJo would not have Yielded BJ & Tyler if they'd won that race?

Oh, gawds -- BJ is racing with no shoes... Let's hope the next airport has a really relaxed dress code...

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by MsShel330 on 05-03-06 at 08:58 PM
I think that Mojo would drugged them if they thought it would help them win. They just killed me acting so indignant at the Yield. How did they expect people to feel toward them after cancelling their taxis?

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by ARnutz on 05-03-06 at 09:13 PM
Eric & Jeremy canceled the cabs, they just let the others believe it was MoJo. Guess that bit them in the a$$ a bit when theirs didn't show!

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by ViningsGal on 05-03-06 at 09:28 PM
Is there a rule saying they can't accumulate money before the next leg commences? maybe BJ can get some shoes before the next ep??

"RE: Pit Stop Arrivals"
Posted by Estee on 05-03-06 at 09:31 PM
There is a rule for money: you have to start the leg with $0.00. (This wasn't the case for a while, and teams did beg during pit stop time.) No such rule applies for clothing -- Meredith & Gretchen got overnight donations from other teams. But you'd need a team willing to make the donation who was reasonably close to BJ's shoe size -- and who had shoes to spare.

"Well, moonie....."
Posted by vince3 on 05-03-06 at 08:50 PM
Since I'm now out of the TAR Casino I'll give you your Coke at the bar there......

By mere seconds, Eric and Jeremy are 2nd

MoJo are third,

and BJ and Tyler are last and lose all possessions AGAIN! (BJ tried a rocky shortcut without shoes which failed.) Either they'll give BJ shoes or they'll find somebody to get shoes off of. Most places have a "no shoes, no service" policy, so bare feet WILL be a problem for the Hippies if they don't get a pair of shoes somewhere......

"Bar?"

I hate them all.

Every single team. Except for maybe R.A.Y. But especially Eric and Jeremy, for making me hate MoJo and the Hippies. They're all too annoying. I was hoping Phil would explain that in the case of a tie, all three teams lose their money and stuff.

"RE: It's official."

I agree Jims...I hate them all with all the hell demonic fire intensity...that's including BJ/Tyler (maybe I'll just give 'em the fire intensity), except, well...Ray & Yolanda.

It would have been funny that all 3 teams have to give up all their possessions. MOJO is worse than Lake/Michelle...or is that even possible?

EP: No, I don't hate BJ/Tyler because it busted me out of the casino game.

"Quick Post-Midnight Notes"
Posted by FFantasyFX on 05-04-06 at 00:35 AM
First, I have to say that Eric/Jeremy have vaulted to the top of my lvoe list tonight with their taxi cab cancellation trick. Terribly underhanded, but that is the type of out of the box thinking I'd like to see more of during the course of the race. Plus, while their horndog ways usually grate on my nerves, I was actually amused by Jeremy hitting on Yolanda and Eric hitting on Monica, the last two females in the race.

Scintillating sprint to the finish line, and I'll admit that the final run to the mat had me tense. But, I do think the close finish is sort of symptomatic of one the things that have annoyed me this season - the challenges and course set for each leg really don't give teams a chance to seperate from one another due to good gameplay, at least compared with earlier editions. These finishes seem to hinge on very minor things sometime, rather than overall effort throughout the entire leg.

And while I still love BJ & Tyler personally, I really don't want to see them win the race. They've done too many stupid things in the last four legs to deserve it at this point, and I'm always leery having teams that benefitted from non-elims win in the end.
