"The property values in LA must really suck"

I mean, how much damage can that city and its environs sustain? I started seriously watching 24 in the second season, and I swear nearly every part of that city has been blasted, suffered a nuclear meltdown, get smashed in car chases, and then get nuked period. Why would anybody want to live there? I'm surprised there aren't "For Sale" signs everywhere.

Maybe it's the great highway system that allows people to drive from one end of the city to the other in 20 minutes (must have improved since I lived there, cuz I couldn't get across the San Fernando Valley in 40 minutes!).

Nothing like a nuclear explosion to get Jack Bauer back in the saddle.

Might as well. After this season, there might nothing left of it but a burning wreck.

Maybe the new trick is to wipe out cities like they do characters. Of course, it took them a few seasons with LA, but I hope they don't send Jack up here next year.

Do not let Jack come to your home town. It won't be there after he's done with it.

A suitcase nuke isn't Hiroshima II. LA will survive.

But the driving stuff drives me crazy. I know that the writers decided during Season 3 that they were going to make Jack into "superdriver" and avoid traffic jams, but this is ridiculous.

And, that nuke was set off 20 miles away.

Give them time...
That was the point of the post. They don't wipe it out all at once, that would be too obvious. They creep in closer and closer, season by season. Nuclear accident here, suitcase nuke there, poison gas here, whatever-kind-of-explosion they had a couple seasons ago here.....

In Season 2, which I just bought on DVD, part of CTU gets blown up.

What was the cause of the explosion (and what season) when he ended up in a gun shop run by Arab Americans. Wasn't that where his girlfriend's fiance took a bullet for him?

Season 4

It was Audrey's ex-husband Paul who took the bullet.

LA might survive, but wouldn't you think hard about moving if a nuke (suitcase or not) was set off in your city?
