"Paradise Hotel"

Does "Paradise Hotel" make anybody else sick? I mean, we all know I'll still watch next week, but the show's premise is nauseating and it just added anothe rrif tin my relationship with Fox.

And is it just me, or does anybody else think it's a bit inappropriate following "American Juniors" with this?

But, but, but...Toni is on it!
Now if we can just get a certain Michael voted on, then it might have some redeeming qualities!

... a land-locked version of Love Cruise.

Same basic rules and even one of the same cast members!

Makes me wonder if Shakes isn't going to show up as one of the cast members added in later. Hmmmm, maybe Shakes' recent timeout to have an operation was just a clever ruse...

Now that would be funny... maybe they should make this a viewer toll call show like American Idol, because I'd pay some $$$ to see Michael vs. Toni II

I've been trying to convince Jeanette to apply. Now THAT would be a great fight.

Speaking of Love Cruise alum, did Melissa ever get that cruise around the world?

nope, they each got the cash ($100,000) plus the monetary value of the open ended ticket around the world ($35,000)in light of that terrorism scam of a couple of years ago where the networks faked the destruction of the World Trade Center in order to boost low prime time ratings. Its true, and you heard it here first. Ground Zero you ask...nothing but a blue screen. Go see Capricorn One, the blueprint's all there.

Didn't "Capricorn One" have O.J. Simpson in it? That right there would be enough to let us know that the "conspiracy" is in itself just a conspiracy.

P.S. Not that *I* am a conspiracy theorist or anything but I agree that the "shakes back surgery" is just a clever ruse to a) resist the Dawg golf challenge and b) appear on "Paradise Hotel" and reunite with ol' Bug Eyes...

And yes, that would be a ton of fun to watch...(a Michael/Toni reunion, that is... the Dawg/shakes golf challenge would probably be a sad sight to watch. )

What IS the point of this show? I don't recall any prize being mentioned for lasting til the end. Is the prize just being there and getting on TV? It is a game, right, at least Toni keeps saying it is. For it to be a game, there has to be a reward for the winner, or who cares? They're clearly not there to make a "love connection". I didn't get that impression at all from the first episode. I dunno, I just don't get it. Is it just simply a DAW showcase?

I agree that this is basically Love Cruise, without the love or the cruise. (and without the prize)

... and the amazing-ever-changing 'rules' of the game. The highlight of which was the 'vote a previously eliminated couple back for the last episode' rule.

I bet the rules will be made up as they go along for this one, too!

Give the man a prize... ah hell, on second though, I'm changing my mind, no prize...

The object of “Paradise Hotel” is to remain in the lap of luxury for as long as possible (up to eight weeks) and collect a huge prize — yet to be determined — on the series’ final episode.

“We’re not planning a financial reward at the moment — it’s more like one of those ‘money can’t buy it’ type of things,” says Gutteridge.

Well, you KNOW that this isn't the "Tiffany's" of reality tv shows when the hostess looks far and away better than any of the contestant women.

Wow, ol' Bug Eyed Toni was really bulked up? Is she angling for a "Toughman" competition? or EcoChallenge or something?!?!

I'm ashamed to say I will be watching this again next week...
You know, I almost forgot how much I really hated Toni, but when she gave her first little confessional, the hate came flooding back!

To answer the original question, the show's premise *is* nauseating, but it's a typical Fox show. I personally find the premise of American Juniors more insulting--because it's humiliates kids--and their parents. Which comes back to humiliating the kids. (Fox said they wouldn't show bad kids' auditions--and they did anyway)

Anyway, Toni seems exactly the same as she was on Love Cruise--except I think she's taking a play out of the Michael handbook and claiming it's a "game" at the very beginning. (Instead of playing it like a game but pretending she wasn't)

Normally, I think I'd hate the mean girl who is trying to steal Toni's man, but I'm going to root for her to succeed anyway.

Those clips of Toni crying? (Probably because she's watching someone else get booted) It makes me sooooo nostalgic.

conflict, whether among couples or singles, is always friggin hilarious. that's why reality shows are popular. personally, i can't stand the incredibly biased "performance" shows like "american idol" or "fame" (although "american juniors" was good until they got the focus off of the psycho stage parents)....christ, how boring. i'd rather see a good catfight anytime. and really, who cares if the bug-eyed "chyna" look-alike is on this show too? from the sound of it, she was great!

and am i the only one who wants to suck andon's tattoos right off of his body? damn, that man is fine....

i think shows like this are filthy and vulgar. i will not watch this. i never watched temptation island, either. i think it's disgusting.

that being said, you all have every right to choose to watch it if you so desire. have fun.

cqvenus, I once felt the same way about Temptation Island ... but then I had to watch it to write summaries, and it turned out to be a lot of fun (even if most of the contestants had the morals of your average Democratic president, Jimmy Carter excepted).

However, unless shakes succeeds in getting himself and Jeanette back on the show (could they be a "mystery couple" added at the end?), I'll pass on a not-so-nostalgic reunion with Ol' Bug Eyes.

And just to keep things tidy and legit, you have my permission, too.

No, you don't have to thank me. Always glad to be of help.

the only reason i said it was to avoid having the comment thrown back at me that if i don't like i don't have to watch it but it doesn't mean nobody likes it and nobody should watch it.

I don't get why you had to explain yourself in the first place....I can't imagine that your post was intended to be as condescending and superior as it came off,; it certainly didn't come off as just a casual observance. If you don't post about a show, it is assumed you don't watch it or don't care to discuss it.
