"Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"

Posted by vince3 on 08-08-09 at 11:51 PM
I'm starting this one up early so that I don't forget.

This thread is for the TV-edited version of the events this week....

Jeff is holding the Coup D'Etat, and Chima's the HoH.

There will be some kind of Competition on Sunday's show to determine the Haves and Have Nots and maybe more, plus the nominations will be made. On Tuesday, we'll see the POV competition and Ceremony. On Thursday will be the Live Eviction, and the final chance to use the Coup. Whoever walks out the door will be the first Jury mamber, barring some weirdness........

If Jeff does use the Coup, Chima and whoever the POV will be safe from being nominated.

Lydia figures she will be nominated and there is discussion of the wizard power and everyone is saying they wouldn't use it but Jeff says he is going to.

Chima tells the serial killer rape story.

Jordan thinks her and Jeff are going up. Jordan thinks Michele has the mystery power. Jeff tries to convince Jordan that they are safe.

She told this story awhile ago. Look how much fuller Kevin's face was in that segment. They just chose this week to edit it into the storyline. They kept showing individual reactions to her telling the story to make sure they didn't have Ronnie, Casey, Laura, etc. in the shot!

Also, I think they used the story this week because they figured that her pre- and post- POV competition antics would balance out the sympathy that the story could generate......

Considering what happened after this week: Good thing they got the story in this week!

My laugh for the night!

Jordan: Where does the spider web come from? Do they shoot it from their butt?

Jeff: *holds hands like Spiderman* No they shoot it from their wrist.

Luxury comp.

See the Goods. Piven stopped by.

Load a old station wagon with stuff that has # of cars that item sells have five minutes. Also have to fit the whole team in the front seat. Big things may not fit as well so need some strategy at stuffing them in.

Chima sided with the Shirts (vs the ties) for the game but doesn't play.

Team that loses is the Have Nots.

Haves will get to play for a cash reward.

When is Jeff going to show some strategy? Or is he trying to not look threatening? Of course you want the high point stuff and not cram the car with lower point stuff. He should have corralled Kevin to stop stuffing the lower point stuff in the car.

Russell wins 10,000.

The Jeff and Jordan show was cute tonight. At least it was entertaining.

When Chima and Michelle were discussing options in the HOH room I was zoning out. Yawn. I've rooted for Michelle but now I'm rethinking her as F2 due to her low key personality. BB would want someone with more spark perhaps?

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"
Posted by AyaK on 08-10-09 at 11:48 PM
We don't know how much the DR is manipulating the game, in terms of wanting someone with "more spark." But Michelle still seems like a reasonable bet for at least final 4. Interestingly, for all of Ronnie's discussion that she's a snake, she has been remarkably loyal to J&J. I guess Ronnie was deceived by his own reflection in the mirror.

I also think she realizes Jeff has the Coup. Let's hope she talks him into using it appropriately.

I agree, Michele probably has correctly guessed who has the power. She might also suspect Kevin a little, but surely she has at least narrowed it down to Jeff and Kevin.

Predictions:

Barring unlucky happenings, I also see Michele going deep. Even F2. I also see Jeff as F2.

Unfortunately for Estee I have a feeling Kevin's game is suited to go far also.

Jordan will be picked off as an easy target when internecine warfare begins, as will Lydia, who will at some point find Kevin's knife in her back. When push comes to shove, the “anybody but me” rationale will force both Jeff and Kevin into betrayal. Lydia is more likely to react badly than Jordan.

Jeff wins jury voting.

Am I just bored or is there even more recaps for longer than ever.

You'd think with that many cameras and that much footage they could fill a whole show. I know half the time they end a few minutes early. Do they sell that much advertising time or do the editors just get bored.

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"
Posted by Snidget on 08-11-09 at 09:08 PM
Nat is sure Jeff doesn't have the power and wouldn't use it if he had it.

Well he might take himself off the block.

Russell talking to Jeff about switching sides since he is nominated.

Jessie wants the POV so he can be safe from the power.

Russ now off to work Michelle.

How dumb are those two? The fight is about whether or not Michelle said that Chima wanted to get rid of Russell. Shouldn't the fact that Chima put Russell up for eviction tell them something?

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"

How dumb are these two?

Sounds like another "How light is Janu" topic.

I know but Janu was the lightest contestant in Palau just like Dan was the palest Survivor in Panama!

For a while, I thought Russell and Michelle were the only ones with a functioning brain.

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"
Posted by zazzy on 08-12-09 at 09:23 AM
Yep, Russell is a "right fighter". That will keep him from winning. Wasn't bonding with Michelle more important than being right about that discussion? I'm guessing he is being true to the archetype that the show wanted when they cast him.

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"
Posted by michel on 08-12-09 at 06:15 PM
But why did Michelle continue denying that she said Chima was going after Russell? The smart thing to do would have been to just say: "She nominated you, didn't she?"

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"
Posted by zazzy on 08-14-09 at 03:35 PM
I think Michelle was objecting to the words "back door". She never said "back door"...Russell shifted what she said imo.

Kevin thought he was hosed because of his small hands, but that's exactly what's needed to get an egg up a chicken coop wall!

Russell was right behind by just one egg.

Kevin wants to save Lydia, but he also wants to strike out on his own.......

"RE: Why did the Chicken"

Poor Russ, now he has to figure out who else's cage to rattle since he didn't win the POV.

Or is that what other bridges to burn. He seems dedicated to making enemies, but then these hamsters all have ADD so they won't remember the slights past another couple of hours.

Why can't we just get rid of CHISMA. She just gets on my nerves and Russell is working it too. When Casey was sent out the door, Natalie mouth was in overload...she soon will be out the door too.

I wonder if Chima wasn't the HOH if she would believe the POV holder should never use the POV?

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 08-11-09 at 09:58 PM
I think it depends on whether someone using the POV would put her in danger of getting put up instead........

"RE: Big Brother 11 Week 5 ECST"
Posted by zazzy on 08-12-09 at 09:21 AM
Heh. Great point. At least the show demonstrated how controlling Chima has been as HOH, even getting Kevin to betray his friend, Lydia.

As if he would have won that challenge. His muscles might have prevented his getting the eggs to the top...and then he would find a way to complain about that, too.

What a whiner.

"Kevin"
Posted by Wacko Jacko on 08-12-09 at 12:22 PM
Can someone please explain to me what Kevin was thinking by not taking Lydia off the block? She obviously is his closest ally in the game. She also has a bigger target on her back then him. Everyone expected him to take her off, and they would’ve understood. Now he’s damaged Lydia’s relationship. He’s also now assured Lydia that if she wins the POV in the future not to take him off. He now also puts himself straight in the middle with no alliance whatsoever….no friend to real confide. He will be the member of convenience to any alliance he gets into now. The minute that side gets numbers he is gone. A two person team is much better than a one person team…especially when the other person is the shield. Jeff is going to take Lydia off (along with Russell) now Lydia and Russell will have a new best friend in Jeff. Really dumb playing by Kevin last night.

"The floater syndrome"
Posted by IceCat on 08-12-09 at 12:37 PM
The game floaters get so hung up on floating with the tide back and forth between the power groups that they start to consume their fellow floaters.

There was a Survivor season a few years back where there two highly visible alliances of three and a cloud of four floaters that got picked off one by one until the three-groups started picking each other off.

Every week the floaters would split their votes every which way and then be so happy that they, themselves, had advoided eviction.

The floater mentality breeds inaction and a deadly "I just need to survive the next vote" mentality.

"RE: The floater syndrome"
Posted by AyaK on 08-12-09 at 01:32 PM
I agree. Of course, Marcellus was the ultimate floater, who floated right into not using POV to take himself off the block -- and got immediately eliminated as a result.

Jeff correctly realizes that Kevin isn't dangerous because Kevin has no game of his own. He's available to boot whenever Jeff wants to boot him, if Jeff can get the numbers. He's right that his side needs to win HoH this week, because he needs to keep cutting down the numbers on the other side.

If he saves Russell and boots Jessie, he can count on Russell as an ally as long as Chima is on the other side. So right now he has 4 on his side: J/J/M and Russell. On the other side are Chima and Nat, with Lydia and Kevin floating to wherever thay see the power. If Jeff didn't use the Coup, J/J/M would be in a 5-3 minority. But if Jessie's gone, two votes are up for grabs, and if J/J/M or Russell get HoH, they'll have a clear majority.

"RE: The floater syndrome"
Posted by Wacko Jacko on 08-12-09 at 03:51 PM
Don’t you think though, if Jeff pulls both Russell and Lydia off the block (which he should)....…he will have made two allies? Chances are than Lydia will join J/J/M/R and then being the floater he is Kevin will be on that side also. So they will gun after Chima and either Jessie/Nat.

It would be unfair is Jesse got voted out because Chima won the HOH fair and square so it should be up to her which side of the house gets nominated/let go. Jeff lost HOH(big surprise) and hence he should not have any power period. America is lame. Look at the first Big brother 1 , they vote out anyone of interest and keep the boring people around.

I never like that side of the alliance because of a couple reasons. Listening to the way jeff talks on BB after dark bothers me, he is such a douch. But I must say he edited great on the tv show. If america heard what Braden really said to Lydia/Kevin, I dont think they would have wanted him to stay either. And then there is Laura, who was kissing Jesse butt every night on BB after dark, and then flipped suddenly. Jordin, Michelle, Kevin, two timin Russell, and Lydia I actually like.

Tonight's show is pre-taped earlier in the day, presumably so that they could get everything in under the hour time limit after Jeff (hopefully) uses the Coup D'Etat.

Also, pre-season football is underway, especially tonight, so check your local listings to make sure you're not pre-empted......

If you're pre-empted, here is one of the possible places to see the show on the net: http://watch.videobrother.com/

Tonight's show will be taped.

May or may not have anything to do with promised freak outs.

They might have been unable to predict the timing with the Coup thingy and the timing could be way different if it is used vs if it is not.

If you go fast so you have enough time for it and Jeff weenies out and doesn't use it they may be worried that they'd be done 10 minutes early with time to fill with what, stuff we know makes no difference? Hamsters wandering around after the HOH comp until time runs out?

"HoH competition"
Posted by vince3 on 08-13-09 at 08:52 PM
Remember: Everyone's eligible this week, courtesy of that Coup D'Etat

Questions about previous competitions: Win and move on, pick next two players. Miss and get eliminated. Nobody buzzes in, both eliminated!

Kevin/Lydia: Ball in Honeycomb: HoH, Lydia's gone.
Jeff/Russell: Casey's a Banana: Have/not, wrong, Russell's out.
Chima/Natalie: Hanging toilet seat: HoH, Natalie's toast.
Jeff/Jordan: Despise being a glow in the dark plumber: Have/not, Jordan's gone
Kevin/Chima: Collect dollars in cents: POV, Bye Chima!
Michele/Jeff: America called to give advice: HoH, Jeff's out.
Michele/Kevin: Pop a pimple: POV, correct: Michele's the new HoH!

Yeah! Now Michelle has to declare which side she is really on--

the Chima-Nat-Kevin-Lydia side or
the Jeff-Jordin side

I say she puts up Nat and Russell and tells everyone Russell is going home and Nat is the pawn. Lydia will be her back up pawn if Russell wins pov.

Woo Hoo!!!

Well, well, well, Jeff used the Coup d'Etat! Yes!

And better yet, Michele won HOH! Double yes!

However, she's got to decide which side she's on now: Chima, Natalie, Kevin & Lydia or Jeff, Jordan & Russell. Of course, she could do as you said, Zazzy, and nominate two people from opposing sides if she's clever enough.

Although I prefer Jeff and Jordan to Chima, Natalie and Lydia (I don't care too much for Russell and I like Kevin), Jeff might be the biggest threat now that Jessie's gone. Jeff's an athlete and can win competitions, he's nice and he's got a supertight (and all-too obvious) alliance with Jordan. Russell isn't trusted by anyone and is probably disliked by quite a few people. And Chima and Natalie aren't really threats at this stage in the game. If I was Michele, I'd break up the alliance between Jeff & Jordan by putting them both up even though I like those two the most.

And that's why you wouldn't have gotten this far were you Michele. By putting up her two closest allies, she would guarantee herself a quick seat in the jury house.

Because Russell voted for Gnat instead of Jessie after telling Jeff that he was going to vote for Jessie, he has to be in the mix for elimination. So does Lydia. But Jeff and Jordan can't possibly be in her mix.

If she put up, say, Gnat and Lydia, she would still look neutral.

Well, I was mistaken in my assessment of the loyalty of Michelle to Jeff & Jordan. You're right, I'm wrong there.

"Irritated"
Posted by skyhoneybear on 08-13-09 at 09:10 PM
I'm glad Jeff used the wizard power. I was sweating like I was working out, LOL!

The reasons why I'm irritated:

1. Lydia boo hooing over Jessie's departure. Jessie must have had that good-good (if you know what I mean....)
2.Kevin looking to Chima on which pairs to put up during the HOH competition.....Kevin has certainly changed since he came in the house on the first day.
3.Chima's funky attitude....if the roles were reversed, she would have used the wizard power as well. I guess she is about to become the "terrorist" against Jeff this week.

I was pissed when Julie said Chima could play.

Does anyone think that Natalie didn't even try to answer the question during the HOH competition?

I think Natalie was too shocked still.........

I'm not surprised that Kevin was looking at Chima for advice, and also Lydia missing her "boy toy" for lack of a better word.....

At some point it'll happen. The events will sink in, the likely future of powerlessness will loom unmistakably, and the only recourse Chima and Nat will have will be to be as shrill and loud as possible. Neither one of them seems to have any tact or power of persuasion.

Michele might consider for a brief moment breaking up Jeff and Jordan (someone sooner or later has to do this), but Chima and Nat will irritate her to the point that she puts those two up. Which she might have done anyway. Russell will be a convenient veto replacement.

The Jeff/Jordan/Michele/Kevin alliance needs to be solid for another week in order to keep the double elim. from hurting them too badly if it doesn't go their way.

Are you people watching the same show as me. Kevin is not in any alliance with Jeff/Jordan/Michelle. He's on the other side. Lydia and Russell yes. And those of you thinking Michelle will put up Jeff???? No way.

The interesting thing I see now is that Lydia looks to be on the Jef alliance and Kevin on the Nat allaince. Never would've thought.

Kevin's a floater. He's not in any alliance. But he voted with J/J/M each of the last two weeks. If he hadn't, Ronnie and Jessie would still be there.

"RE: Irritated"

He just happened to vote with Jeff, Jordan, and Michele last week because if he didn't, he would've lost Lydia then......

This week......I think he figured that this might be the only shot to get rid of Jesse, maybe?

I agree with Chisma Playing, But when he looked at Chima for the pairing off for players almost flew mw off the bed. If Jeff/Jordan couldn't win, I am glad that Michele won. Lord knows who she will put up because she has been all over the house. She made the final four with Jeff/Jordan and Rusell bur who knows.

"RE: Irritated"

Look at the votes. You can't put Russell in their mix. He voted against them.

The reason for keeping Russell this week is one-fold: you want to give Chima a target if she wins the week-in-an-hour HoH. Get rid of Gnat this week, and then feel comfortable that Russell will be nominated if your group doesn't win HoH.

"RE: Irritated"

ITA that Nat and Russell need to go next. At some point people will say to themselves that they don't want to lose to an "18 year old". Nat's strat will backfire on her.

The episode went as I wished but it was still boring. No outbursts, nothing really but Jesse pouting. Was it unrealistic expectations or did CBS kill the drama? How could they call it a "live vote" if it was taped early this afternoon?

Who else was surprised that Russell voted to keep Jesse. I know I was

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"

Possible scenerio: Jessie let Russell know he was pissed that he was not picked by Russell to play POV which left Jessie vuneralbe to elimination. Jessie is now a juror and by Russell voting to keep Jessie (knowing there were enough votes to get him out) he hopes to get Jessie's vote if he gets to the F2.

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"
Posted by zazzy on 08-14-09 at 09:01 AM
Interesting thought. Or is Russell afraid of "girl power"?

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"
Posted by Lorr on 08-14-09 at 09:34 AM
I am amused by the Girl Power - no brain power.

1. Lydis is pissed at Jeff and wants him oyt - he saved her
sorry butt to play another week.

2. In order to have 2 girls as the F2 they have to eliminate
all men - including Jessie. Jeff did them a favor they
did not have to turn on him and secure his vote if they
get to F2.

3. Lydis said she is tired of Jordan the ho doing what pimp
Jeff wants. Well that is calling the kettle black.

This is the worst group of HG...

This is the worst group of HG...

I don't think we're at Fiendship level yet. (I do think that if there had been a coup on Maggie's watch, she would have stabbed the DR walls trying to get at the rats until they dragged her away.)

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"
Posted by zazzy on 08-14-09 at 03:32 PM
Ohhhh, could we have a rewind to Maggie's season and throw in a Coup D'Etat? Please? Only that would mean having to listen to the shreiky one again...what's her name that came in second.

>Who else was surprised that Russell

No way. Russell had some ties with Jessie. He never really had ties with Nat. Kevin is the one that surprised me. He seems to be going against his friend Lydia. He would've known Lydia would've been for Jessie. Plus, then he picked Jordan and Jeff to play against each other in the HOH contest.

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"
Posted by AyaK on 08-13-09 at 10:53 PM
Except: Jeff had asked Russell that, if some miracle happened and he could vote to get rid of anyone in the house, who would he vote to eliminate? He said Jessie. So Russell lied to Jeff, even though Jeff was probably his only chance of salvation.

I tend to believe that Russell thinks of himself as a "man's man." He'll be loyal to Jeff, because Jeff is the only other athlete left in the house. And he'll be against Chima. But I don't think you can count him as part of any J/J/M alliance.

CBS killed the drama - probably would have been the most excitement of the season

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"
Posted by AyaK on 08-13-09 at 10:45 PM
Natalie and Chima are telling Kevin that they are going to go after Jeff after the POV ceremony, when they know which of them will be eliminated. They don't want to do it before the POV, so that they might have a chance to win it.

Chima's complaining that she feels like she's been f---ed in the a--. Gnat said that she wanted to walk out when Jessie left. Lydia just spent an entire session in the DR crying. Jessie must have been hung like a horse to have the three of them spooning after him like that.

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"

Yes, great comment. Why did they take the most buzz worthy event of the season and smother it?

As for the three witches...they signed a contract that most likely spelled out that CBS/BB could do whatever in the game...and didn't they see the season with America's Player?

I think one of the best attributes a hamster can have is to be able to shift expectations with the tides of the game. Dan did it well last year. Chima is just bitter, bitter, bitter. And I don't know quite what Lydia's problem is. Jesse probably wouldn't even vote for her if she were in the F2!

As for the three witches...

I dare you to tell me which is the maiden, who's the mother, and who you're going to label as the crone.

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"
Posted by Corvis on 08-14-09 at 01:41 PM
Ooh, I want to play!

I vote Natalie for the maiden ... after all she's only 18! Heh.

And Chima for the crone because of that cackle-y laugh alone. Ugh!

And that leaves Lydia as the mother, which kind of makes sense... in a strange inverted world where your mom loves tattoos and muscle bound morons and has no self respect.

"RE: Wasn't worth the Popcorn"
Posted by zazzy on 08-14-09 at 03:31 PM
Corvis nailed it! That must be the author in him ;) .

Nat didn't put out for Jesse so she's the maiden.

Chima--you nailed her. She is sooooo bitter and that goes with being a crone, doesn't it?

Lydia--the mom part goes with the nanny training...she's ready to be one!

Have I missed any discussion about Jessee brushing Kevin off like a dirty fly after he was voted out? That was an insult.

Kevin mentioned it outside after the HOH comp, but they didn't show any further discussion.
