I often fantasize about being tucked away from the world for a few months and coming back and finding out what has changed.

Okay, my fantasies aren't all so mundane, but lots of things happen during the BB summers. In 2000, the Concorde crashed (which Eddie precogged in a dream), the terrorist attacks happened during the last weeks of BB2 in 2001, etc. etc.

So, I thought it would be interesting, as time goes by, to keep a running tally of news stories that the hampsters will miss while locked up for the summer.

I'll start.

Lady Bird Johnson dies.

Okay, already I've hit a snag. It just struck me that these freaques of nature probably don't even know who Lady Bird Johnson was.

I was gone for just a couple of weeks and felt out of touch when I got back. I can't imagine what it'd be like to be away for months at a time.

Although some days I'd like to find out...

Tammy Faye's death, negotiations with Tehran for the first time in decades, the Korean hostage crisis... Utube debates, and major votes coming up on Iraq funding (though this doesn't look like it'll be news...).

Altogether, I don't think these HG's are going to notice anything out of place when they come back except that Kevin Federline may have full custody. And Dustin may be amused that President Bush will be a little more teary-eyed than he was before.

Pirate Master cancelled and taken off the air before the season was over.

Michael Vick's dogfighting charges drama.

The NBA referee/gambling drama.

Barry Bonds (eventually) breaking Hank Aaron's HR record.

The doping/drug testing drama of the Tour de France (2 teams withdrawn, 2 more teams crippled by various positive doping/drug tests plus the Rasmussen dodging the testing debacle...)
