"Big Brother #9 Episode # 1 East Coast Spoiler Thread"

Please keep all sigpic-free discussion of the Stupidest Theme Twist Ever -- yes, I know this is BB and that covers a lot of ground: this is still the winner -- on this thread until midnight EDT, by which time the West Coast will have gotten to see the Chenbot forget who the players are, where they've just gone into, and what time of year it is. Matching people up with their supposed soulmates? And the category they drew those soulmates from is 'people desperate enough to apply for Big Brother? Oh, sure: this is going to work. It's just like pairing up lemmings, just in midair two seconds before impact.

Let's revisit a little matchmaking history. There was a season where people were stuck in the house with their exes. That didn't work. Spectacularly.

There was a season where people were put in the house with partners. That also didn't work. Even more spectacularly.

There was a season where a brother was put in the house with his sister, only neither of them knew it. Anyone remember how that went down?

Oh, and then there was the season where a woman was put into the house with her identical twin. Eventually. Coincidentally, this was one of the seasons above, so you can pretty much guess that it didn't work out.

And wasn't there a season where people were put in the house with someone they had 'unfinished business' with? Oh, right -- there was! And what did that give us? Let me know if any of this sounds familiar: 'I can't be here! I can't take this kind of stress! Everyone's being so mean to me, putting me through an experience that might involve some kind of emotion that I didn't have someone buy for me! And I can't spell 'unfinished'!'

Repeat after me, people: Big. Brother. Twists. Don't. Work. The odds that any of these artificial couples will stick? Just about zero. The odds that we want them to stick? Pretty much zero already. And the chances that Julie knows who any of them are? Absolute zero.

But on the plus side, if they do somehow stay together? They're BB hamsters. They deserve each other. (And it keeps them away from the rest of us.)

Welcome to Big Brother #9: Winter Of Pain.

Same theme. Same channel. New climate.

They do say cold numbs the agony.

Please see Cahaya's summary signup thread at http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/DCForumID34/1206.shtml for your chance to work with the Most Material Ever. It's all you can mine at the Hamster Cage Of Iron Pyrite!

we're gonna be in semi-fast forward mode. They gotta get through introductions, HoH, a possible food competition, POV competition, vote out, eviction dredge with Chenbot, and then a live HoH disaster over the course of two episodes.......

Which probably means the live feeds won't go up until around midnight on Wednesday -- if they go for the full round and don't give us any time to really meet anyone.

Which would pretty much be par for the course.

'Eviction dredge'. You may have to put a trademark on that.

*whistle*

If that's what's coming down, then they're prepared to make it a shorter season if they have to.

It's always nice when the viewers get to be on the right end of a mercy vote.

I know that tomorrow's gonna be a live eviction night because there was an article on Jokers saying that some areas are gonna get pre-empted for college basketball tomorrow........

Raise your hand if you swore you'd never be here again!

...look around you. Everyone with their hand up is a stone-cold liar.

Are you calling me a liar?

That's half of what BB is about.

"I'm gonna strike down the competition."

Gutter ball.

and we already got the first secondary twist in the game.

Sharon and Jacob just broke up! And both are in the house!

Jen and her boyfriend Ryan are also in the house together.....

I wonder if either pair will be set up as "soul mates" or will they get mixed and matched?

Ye gawds, the Ex-Factor is back. Didn't we have the ghosts in the house two seasons ago? 'Hey, this didn't work last time -- but we're sure we can get it right with a smaller sample size!'

I already hate the paparazzi. But I hate all paparazzi, so he was doomed going in.

There's the secret of the two pairs, and one secret is already revealed in the opening moments.

Listen to Julie, using the word 'showmance' like she actually knows what it means...

Oh, look! There's someone more intelligent than our host! We've got guinea pigs! Qweep!

Well, it'll be more fun than going to fish.

Well, Julie says things are about to be turned upside down...

(Is that code?)

Oh for eff's sake.

Didn't they do this crap already?

Twice?

::grumble grumble::

Why I ever expect anything other than garbage (I mean, "the unexpected"), I'll never know.

And yet, here I am.

Big Brother: 'You're screwed!'

"RE: Actual show motto:"

This is by far the most squirm-inducing concept they've ever had.

And I did have to sit through the season of WAAAAAAAAAAAHMBER, D!ck the talking slime, and that whining stick insect that I think was named "It's your fault."

"RE: Actual show motto:"

You're screwed

Sub-motto: And you're jealous while they're screwed.

Julie just dropped the "soul mates" bomb on the Hamster cage.

The ex's have differing opinions on whether they'd be partnered up or not. She hopes not, he hopes so. (That may have been part of the problem in the relationship......) The current couple is praying that they are together or else their strategy is toast.

The Soul mates are:

Alex and Amanda
James and Chelsia
Natalie and Matt (and we got our first blurs)
Jen and Parker (the currents are broken up!)
Joshua and Neil
Jacob and Sharon (the ex's are together!)

No more beds!

Ryan and Allison
Sheila and Adam (and Sheila's pi$$ed off)

Oooh... Sheila's mad. And according to Adam, "busted."

Where's April?

Posted by cahaya on 02-12-08 at 09:45 PM
Not only mad, but in her words, feeling kind of horrible about it. Can't blame her. In everyday life, she could just brush him off in a moment as not her type, but here...?

With her one true soulmate: her mouth.

If we start a drinking game where you take a shot every time someone says 'soulmate', people are going to die.

Adam and Sheila are getting along like a house on fire!

Fatalities: two.

It sounds like the first HoH couple will have absolute authority to evict a couple tomorrow. No POV. Doesn't sound like there will be a food comp either.

Half of the couples are harnessed up, and they're being held on by the other half.

Wow. Anyone shocked that Adam was quick to drop Sheila?

I'm guessing he was probably sorry he didn't drop her on her head.

Unfortnately, his halitosis got the better of him.

Geez, what do you do when your date says 'sorry about my breath'?

Typical blow-out-the-budget first challenge. From this point on, bring on the isolation booths.

And I'm not sure this 'power couple' gets to send someone out on their own. Giving one team this much control on Day One is a little weird.

*blink*

Just thought of something. If all eliminations are double occupancy, then we're looking at an even-numbered jury. At some point, they have to split -- the show can't risk a tie.

If all eliminations are double occupancy, then we're looking at an even-numbered jury.

Hmmm... instead of a jury of seven, it could be a jury of three couples (where a pair votes as one, like everything else).

This could potentially be a very fast season.

I heard that they are going to make it a full season no matter what with the writers strike they are doing a full one .. that is what I heard.

Shelia is some piece of work. No wonder she's single. Who would want to put up with her? If she was looking for a man, she should have tried out for 'The Bachelor' or the dozen other shows that exist like that one. Get over it already and play the game!

The same goes for Sharon. She needs to get a hold of herself, stay focused and try to win. I mean, isn't that the point of being on the show in the first place.

"Instant spoiler!"

The commercial for House Calls clearly showed Parker & Jen having won HoH! Can this show do nothing right?

They didn't do it very well did they I wonder why they are so disorganized they have known they were going to do this for a few months.

"The beggining"
Posted by jd8855 on 02-13-08 at 00:09 AM
At the beggining of the show they say that they will compete until only ONE will be the winner so it's not going to be a couple thing.. so at some point they will start to play for themselves even if they start out as a couple.
