With the anniversary coming next week, Mount Sinai Medical Center has issued the results of a study on "World Trade Center cough" showing that Nearly 70 percent of recovery workers who responded to the attacks on the World Trade Center suffered lung problems during or after their work at ground zero.

Let's be certain to remember all the heroes of 9/11.

talk about long term health studies and coverage for all the people suffering from the effects of the toxic air. When I went to the site about a month later there was still a coating of dust and ash, and probably plenty of it still settling. That burning sharp odor would permeate my hair and clothes from being in the general area for a few hours at a time. Some things I just threw out, thinking that smell would never go away. I hope the funding gets worked out and a plan really comes together. These emergency workers and volunteers deserve to be treated with the utmost care-they had a terrible job to do and despite what they faced (both physically and emotionally) they did it. It's the least we can do to say, once again, THANK YOU.

They were truly heroic. They knowingly entered an obviously dangerous environment, though it is now certain it was more dangerous than they had supposed, risked their lives to save lives. I think we all knew there was little hope of anyone being rescued from ground zero, but they held onto what little hope there was, gave it everything they had. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their heroism.
