"Be the Amazing Racer - Season 8 Signup Thread"

Even though the first episode has already aired, it's not too late for another season of...Be the Amazing Racer! Maybe it's better this way; we now have SOMEthing of an idea who these people are.

Feel free to jump in and play. There are 36 spots available (and I won't stop anyone from being one of the Black family).

Search the Basher archives for examples of how this has been done before.

RULES (shamelessly swiped and altered from Buckeyegirl):

1. Casting: Sign up for a Racer to speak for/represent (a sign up post is below). One spot per Racer. You may not be someone already taken or reserved. I will go by first come basis. I try to be fair and work it out if there is a problem (although, with 40 Racers, I'm not expecting any).

2. Please post at least once a week/episode, at least until you've been eliminated, after that - optional, you may still add comments from Sequesterville. (You can even become one of the Black family, even though they're already out.) If you're gonna be out or you'd like to "Osten", just send me a PM. If you miss 2 weeks without notice, I will have to reassign the character. You can opt to switch characters once yours is eliminated, if that character is still open.

3. Sign the bottom of EVERY post you write with your Racer's name or picture. 40 people are difficult to keep track of. I will provide you with a pic, or if you are really a DAW, you could make your own or add it as an extension to your existing sigpic.

4. Speak as your Racer would speak, and speak for them. Share your Racer's inner thoughts about what happened in the episode, and what they think of the other Racers. Praise, tease or bash away. Be Funny.

5. Have fun, this is not for SERIOUS bashing. Also, be careful not to post any big spoilers (like who is going). Don't bash other players personally.

6. If your Racer gets eliminated, you are technically in Sequesterville. You then get the privilege of writing your own "final remarks", so PLEASE DO. You are encouraged to continue to post/comment, but remember that you are in Sequesterville.

7. If your Racer wins, you win...certainly NOT one million dollars! But you get bragging rights.

8. Anyone not signed up as a Racer is still invited to make comments about the Racers. Be clever. One poster once became Every Airline Ticket Agent In The World, while another posted as various foods. You can also be other locals and bystanders (but not *our* Bystander!), props, camerapeople, folks on the mat with Phil, or whatever.

I'll start another thread for this week; jump in once you've signed up. If we don't get fully rolling until next week, that's cool; this is a little late.

To be honest, I wondered whether it would work myself. I figgered, let's give it a shot, and if it falls flat, it does. But so far the response has been good.

I'll let you know if I need hep with the sigs. I like your style better, and may adopt it henceforth.

Someone has GOT to take Carissa Gaghan (now the youngest in the race).

If you have a program like Photoshop or what was known as MS PictureIt!, you can make your own sigs. Look through the Help forum (under Off Topic) for examples and instructions.

Hiya, Tivo^3, and welcome to the boards! You learn product placement fast!

All you have to do is hit "reply with quote" and you'll see a couple URLs toward the bottom. The first one is the one for your sig. Just make it the last line of what you post as your character! Might want to store the URL in a safe place so you have ready access to cut and paste it.

BTW, there's no need to test post. If it shows up using the Preview button, it'll work for real.

Just took a break from the joke shop duties with my brother George and found this. Have been lurking for a while trying to figure out how you Muggles work this. Too bad my Dad and Harry are busy off dealing with Smape and He who must not be named. (Not Jonathon) I do hope I am doing the correct Muggle thing. So primitive you Muggles are. It would be so much easier to post with a spell. Anyway, I would like to try this.

If possible, let me have either one of the crazy Weaver sisters or the Gahgan mother. Those Weavers are prime candidates for St. Mongo's.
