"Theme Songs"

I thought it might be fun to pick "theme songs" for the housemates, past and present, and even the Life Coaches. I haven't put much thought into it yet, but here is one I heard today on the radio.

Lisa1 - "Can't Find a Better Man" Pearl Jam
also, "Minnie the Moocher" Cab Calloway

Allison's Theme Song: (she wishes) "Popular" from the Broadway musical "Wicked."

especially these parts:

Alphaba (Denise) : You really don't have to do that--
Glinda (Allison) "I know, that's what makes me so *nice!*"

The end of the song, Glinda/Allison

"You'll be popular, just not as popular as MEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Lisa2: "Self-Esteem" by The Offspring.
"The more you suffer, the more you show you really care, right?"

Jill: "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor
"I would have changed the locks, and asked you for your key, if I'd thought for just one second that you'd be back to bother me." (about her father, whom she referred to as a "sperm donor.")

Christina: "Centerfold," by the J Geils Band. (doesn't the title say it all?)

Kim, "My Name is Luka" by Suzanne Vega.
"If you hear something late at night, some kind of trouble, some kind of fight, just don't ask me what it was. just don't ask me what it was. just don't ask me, what it was."

Pink Floyd sang MONEY...

I believe she was thinking of "For the Love of Money" by the O'Jays, which is also the theme to The Apprentice.

Lyrics.

The Pink Floyd song is the one that begins with the cash register sounds.

I gotta good one for Lisa1, but it's a real old blues number...

"You're mean to me?...
Why must you be mean to me?...
Gee, honey, it seems to me...
You love to see me crying... "

--Billie Holliday-- from movie Lady Sings the Blues...

Just had to chuckle since we were endured with those all-so-famous "crockadile" tears.

-Edit-

Also for Lisa1:

I'm sorry, so sorry! Please accept my apologies! -- from "I'm Sorry"

An oldie for Jessica:

There was a song from Peter Pan titled I won't grow up, that would work too, wouldn't it?

PETER PAN:
Are you ready for today's lesson?

ALL:
Yes, Peter!

PETER PAN:
Listen to your teacher. Repeat after me:
I won't grow up,
(I won't grow up)
I don't want to go to school.
(I don't want to go to school)
Just to learn to be a parrot,
(Just to learn to be a parrot)
And recite a silly rule.
(And recite a silly rule)
If growing up means
It would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree,
I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up
Not me!
Not I,
Not me!
Not me!
I won't grow up,
(I won't grow up)
I don't want to wear a tie.
(I don't want to wear a tie)
And a serious expression
(And a serious expression)
In the middle of July.
(In the middle of July)
And if it means I must prepare
To shoulder burdens with a worried air,

I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up
Not me,
Not I,
Not me!
So there!
Never gonna be a man,
I won't!
Like to see somebody try
And make me.
Anyone who wants to try
And make me turn into a man,
Catch me if you can.
I won't grow up.
Not a penny will I pinch.
I will never grow a mustache,
Or a fraction of an inch.
'Cause growing up is awfuller
Than all the awful things that ever were.
I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up,
No sir,
Not I,
Not me,
So there!

I won't grow up!
(I won't grow up)
I will never even try
(I will never even try)
I will do what Peter tells me
(I will do what Peter tells me)
And I'll never ask him why
(And I'll never ask him why)

We won't grow up!
(We won't grow up)
We will never grow a day
(We will never grow a day)
And if someone tries to make it
(And if someone tries to make it)
We will simply run away
(We will simply run away)

I won't grow up!
(I won't grow up)
No, I promise that I won't
(No, I promise that I won't)
I will stay a boy forever
(I will stay a boy forever)
And be banished if I don't!
(And be banished if I don't)

And Never Land will always be
The home of beauty and joy
And neverty
I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up
Not me!
Not me!
Not me!
Not me!
No sir!
Not me!

I'm loving this thread
I've always sucked at music as far as who sings what..can know the song word for word but am lost when referring to it.

The only song that comes to mind and I can't even remember the country artist (see how i suck) would be
"It's too late to do the right thing now" (think it's called a little too late?) Anyhow this could apply to all once they drag their sorry little a$$ to that show..

Iyanla and Jodi: "Open Arms" by Journey
Lying beside you, here in the dark, feeling your heartbeat with mine...

Niambi: "Delta Dawn," by Tanya Tucker.

(Partial lyrics):
And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky?

She's forty-one and her daddy still calls her "baby"
All the folks around Brownsville say she's crazy
'Cause she walks around town with a suitcase in her hand
Looking for a mysterious dark-haired man

In her younger days they called her Delta Dawn
Prettiest woman you ever laid eyes on
Then a man of low degree stood by her side
And promised her he'd take her for his bride

Christie: "1985" by Bowling For Soup.
(Partial lyrics):
"Debbie (Christie) just hit the wall. She never had it all. One Prozac a day. Her husband's a CPA. Her dreams went out the door, when she turned 24. Only been with one man. What happened to her plan? She was going to be an actress, she was going to be a star, she was going to shake her a$$ on the hood of WhiteSnake's car. Her yellow SUV is now the enemy. She looks at her average life, and nothing has been all right."

---Yeah. Christie WISHES she had a husband that was a CPA...The rest? Yeah. Fits.---

Christina: "Centerfold," J. Geils Band. "There's my homeroom angel in the pages in between! My blood runs cold, my memory has just been sold! My Angel in the Centerfold. I turn away so Angel can't catch my eye."

Kelly: "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses.
(partial lyrics)

"Bah, humbug!" No, that's too strong
'Cause it is my favorite holiday
But all this year's been a busy blur
Don't think I have the energy

To add to my already mad rush
Just 'cause it's 'tis the season.
The perfect gift for me would be
Completions and connections left from
Last year,

Niambi -- "Three Hearts in a Tangle" by Roy Drusky.

Three hearts in a tangle one heart will have to break
Tonight as I sit by my window watching the people go by
I'm trying to reach a decision but I know I can't do what's right
Three hearts in a tangle which heart should I take
Three hearts in a tangle which heart will I break

If I choose the one that I should choose then the other heart would break
But if I'll leave them both then I'd suffer which heart will pay for my mistake
Three hearts in a tangle...

OR, also for Niambi:

"Walk On By" by Leroy Van Dyke: (This is how I picture "Situation Man" treating her, and the kinds of things he'd say (sing)

Lyrics:

If I see you tomorrow on some street in town
Pardon me if I don't say hello (hello)
I belong to an other, it wouldn't look so good
To know someone I'm not supposed to know.

CHORUS
Just walk on by, wait on the corner
I love you, but we're strangers when we meet
Just walk on by, wait on the corner
I love you, but we're strangers when we meet.

In a dimly lit corner in a place outside of town
Tonight we'll try to say goodbye again (goodbye)
But I know it's not over, I'll call tomorrow night
I can't let you go, so why pretend.

CHORUS

For Antonia, these choice words from "Dang Me" by Roger Miller.

"Six rounds bought, and I bought five
Spent the groceries and half the rent
Like fourteen dollars and twenty seven cents."

(This is supposed to be about a man, but..the "like" and the "spend" well, you know...yeah. Antonia)
