"TAR 7, Episodes 5/6 ... TAR Fans, It's Time to Vote!"

Posted by PepeLePew13 on 03-28-05 at 11:50 AM
Welcome, everyone, to this week's voting thread! The purpose of this thread is to tell us who you think will be eliminated in this week’s episode.

First... have you read Landru's summary? Worth a read, and bring a whole pot of coffee and snacks with you!

Team TARsucks Spoilers, WOO HOO, we nailed the correct eliminees for the first time this season! Our team picking record is now 1-3-0-1. Keep up the good work.

This week is going to be interesting ... we've got a double episode. Feel free to make your predictions on how it'll unfold -- i.e., will there be two elims, or a Non-Elim and an elim or nobody getting eliminated?

The Rules, the same old brak brak

1. Please put the name of your choice for this week's bootee IN THE SUBJECT HEADING! This is really easy. Just erase the bit where it says "Re: TAR 7, Episodes 5/6 ... TAR Fans, It's Time to Vote!" and replace with your vote, i.e., Freddy/Kendra. This makes it easier to tally votes quickly and accurately. Nicknames are tougher to tally unless they're REALLY obvious without actually reading your vote, so please save the nicknames for inside your post and only use their proper names in the subject header.

Please note that those who do not bother to put contestant names in the subject heading will likely not have their vote counted because it’s time-consuming to go through every post and count the vote in there.

2. If you feel there will be a Non-Elimination at the pit stop, put down "Non-Elimination" in the subject header.

3. Reply ONLY to this post! Curves on women are good. Curves on vote threads are bad.

EXCEPTION TO RULE 3! VOTE CHANGES!

If it just so happens that you want to change your vote for whatever reason, REPLY TO YOUR ORIGINAL POST! Your new post heading should read "VOTE CHANGE: Adam/Rebecca (or Whoever)".

4. THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION THREAD! There are plenty of places on the Spoilers/Speculation Forum to debate the merits of people's arguments. Let's keep it out of here, please. Feel free, though, to explain the reasoning behind your vote, predict who will finish first, get yielded, Fast Forwards, etc.

5. Have fun!

THE TEAMS:

Lynn/Alex (Boyfriends)

Me first!

I actually changed my mind on this today. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the show was expanded to two hours just because of all the stuff happening in the previews. I don't see why they'd cram two legs into one night. Brian/Greg will lose serious time with the accident, but they'll be saved by non-elim (it's time).

I am changing my mind. Why? I looked in TV Guide, and sure enough, it says they run two legs of the race tonight.

M/G fall behind in the first part, but the boys can't recover from the time lost in the crash.

ETA: Sorry -- I just looked at the rules again and realized I didn't put "vote change" in the subject line...

I think the first leg will be non elimination with the brothers or Meredith and Gretchen last and elimination will be Ray and Deanna (or at least I hope so that they will lose to the "old people").

I think there will be two distinct parts to the show -- that's why TV Guide or whoever is calling it "Episode 5 and Episode 6" so we'll have a non-elimination in the first part and an elimination in the second part.

It's hard to know for sure, but I think Brian and Greg are going to be wiped out enough and have to wait long enough for a replacement car after they hit an ostrich, so they end up well behind other teams to the pit stop.

Then in the second part, a bunching point somewhere along the way allows the brothers to catch up and get back into the mix of things. They're young and strong, they won't let a car roll-over stop them for too long. Ray's repeated comments about not letting the older folks will come back to bite him on the ass as Meredith/Gretchen beats out Ray/Deana to the pit stop.

First part a non-elimination due to accidents but I think it will be M/G last, they may be stuck at hospital for a while.
Next part Ray/Deana eliminated hopefully.

It's the background and editing that puts Ray/Deana out of it.

"NE-Ray/Deana + Elim: Ray/Deana"
Posted by ARnutz on 03-28-05 at 01:54 PM
Why?

In the first leg, Ray/Deana go for the fast forward and "make a huge mistake" because somebody else gets it first and they have to go back to complete all tasks. This puts them way behind.

In the second leg, they'll have to beg for money which will put them even further behind. Plus, I think his "losing to the old folks" quote was forshadowing.

Of course, I could be completely wrong because it's all just speculation.

*crossing fingers* I am right so I never have to hear "SUCK IT UP!!!" again.

Meredith/Gretchen will be eliminated in the 2nd hour. The 1st hour is a NEL. I don't think their average will improve much.

Team average
Rob and Amber (3rd, 1st, 5th, 1st) = 2.5
Lynn and Alex (5, 5, 1, 5) = 4
Uchenna and Joyce (8, 4, 2, 3) = 4.25
Brian and Greg (4, 9, 3, 2) = 4.5
Ron and Kelly (10, 2, 4, 4) = 5
Ray and Deana (7, 3, 6, 6) = 5.5
Meredith and Gretchen (6, 7, 7, 7) = 6.75

Posted by Flowerpower on 03-28-05 at 02:17 PM
The first hour will be very exciting with all of the huge setbacks.....don't worry though, it's a non-elim. The second hour will be for real, and Ray/Deana will finally finish in dead last. Deana will find something that she really can't do...go one more step with Ray.

"Non-elim - Ray/Deana"
Posted by Loree on 03-28-05 at 04:43 PM
I think the first half will be a non-elim. Then I think Ray and Deana will be booted before the old couple and it will just kill Ray.

"NEL (Ray/Deana) - Elim - Ray/Deana"
Posted by Voltec on 03-28-05 at 06:00 PM
I think that Ray and Deana will be last in the NEL - hour 1 and then have no money for the second hour... and be ELIMINATED.

It isn't just my predication, I truly HOPE it happens - they deserve to eat Gretchen and Meredith's dust!

Tough week. The editing & background spoiler are both rabidly screaming: "Ray/Deana! Ray/Deannnna! Ray/Deannnnnnnnna!" Well, I'm going to ignore their shrill cries and march to the beat of my own drummer.

I place little faith in the background spoiler - tomorrow represents the first week where CBS can throw us a true curveball. If they don't throw it now, they may have to wait until the final episode, and I don't think they'll wait that long. As for editing, I think the Meredith/Gretchen vs. Ray/Deana rivalry can be extended another week or two.

One of the main difficulties this week is trying to place which challenges and which events occur in which episode. The answer to that question obviously determines the difference between who is saved by the non-elimination and who is skewered by the elimination. I think it's OK to presume that the teams will start out in South Africa (Episode 5) and move on to Botswana (Episode 6). So, what takes place where?

Banzai's map (Preview Vidcap thread) seems to indicate that the cave challenge (Gold Reef City) indeed takes place in the fifth episode. The Fast Forward almost assuredly also takes place in this episode, unless it is available at the very beginning of the sixth leg (which I doubt). The additional challenges here are not clear, although it could very well be the orphange. They really can't take a great amount of time though, since the airport logjam will probably take up the first fifteen minutes of the episode.

That is why I think the safari vidcaps are from Episode 6. Both the lion feeding and spear throwing occur on the same day. This also squarely places Brian/Greg's car accident during the elimination episode as well. The TAR hints blame the accident on an "intense drive" (An intense drive ends with one Team getting into a horrible car accident. Will they recover and stay in the Race?). The term intense drive seems to denote culpability on the part of Brian/Greg. Even if they aren't hurt, they'll be psychologically shook up. And although I know other people quite strongly disagree with me, I don't think it is so clear cut that they are entitled to a replacement vehicle. If the car accident takes place in the sixth episode, Brian/Greg are eliminated - no ifs ands or buts.

"Ep5 - Non-Elimination (Meredith and Gretchen) Ep6 - Brian and Greg"
Posted by Gingerman28 on 03-28-05 at 08:28 PM
I think Meredith and Gretchen fall way behind during the Roadblock and have difficulty catching up with the others for the Detours. They are saved by the NEL. In Ep 6 it is not clear what the tasks are, but it looks like the accident is certainly on a different day than the other task performed by Brian. In those tasks he is wearing a blue short sleeved shirt. In the accident scene is is driving wearing a sleeveless white shirt. This puts them way behind and perhaps even without any possiblity of catching up since they will not get a replacement car to continue.

"Non-Elimination (M&G) then Elimination (Ray and Deana)"
Posted by callasin on 03-28-05 at 10:08 PM
I'm guessing that they want us to think Ray and Deana will fail the FF but they don't and Meredith and Gretchen come in last.

During the second half the accident will cause Brian and Greg to loose time but someone, hopefully Ray and Deana will be so far behind they end up being eliminated.

I also predict a non-elimination for the ostrich. I think it looks like a person on the ground not the bird.

Just to go out on a limb and I hope I'm wrong. Lack of presence in previews and the first week that the Early show is having the TAR eliminees.

Post 33 including 32 votes, 1 vote tally, and 1 vote change.

We only have two UTR teams this week: Ron/Kelly and Uchenna/Joyce. Meredith/Gretchen have a slim lead over Brian/Greg as our choice for non-elimination in EP5. Ray/Deana, on the other hand, are our run away favorites for elimination in EP6.

Leg 5
12 NE Meredith/Gretchen
08 NE Brian/Greg
08 NE Unspecified
03 NE Ray/Deana
01 EL Meredith/Gretchen

Leg 6
22 EL Ray/Deana
03 EL Brian/Greg
03 EL Meredith/Gretchen
01 EL Lynn/Alex
01 EL Rob/Amber
