I think andy's doing pretty good so far...I even liked the way he checked Kelly about the still shots. He seems to be on top of everything so far.

Not sure what's going on with Apex but listening to elizabeth ans I can see how one would be led to ask if they can fire her.

Holy smokes did he ever lay into her. Sad to say I have to agree with everything he said. She just doesn't get it and it would be really interesting to see what Donald would have to say about a team mutiny.

For some reason though, I think it still comes back to Mosaic with Maria getting the "what is wrong with you speech"

I have no reason for thinking this, but it's just what I feel.

The star of the show was on the losing team.

I am very impressed by the way Kevin tried to help Elizabeth "fix" the campaign and even after she got pressured by the other team members to dump her and Kevin's idea.

Kevin understandingly was PO'd but still tried to straighten out Elizabeth (and in private which I thought showed a lot of class). He was the only one that tried to provide a constructive dialog.

I almost would have canned raj...not for the idea...but for his third grade behavior denagrading Elizabeth

Elizabeth has changed her mind again. Kevin says he's confused. Kevin says "I wish you would make a decision". Kevin says they are five hours away from presentation time. He saiys "I think our PM sucks. flat out".

They said they need to fire her. Kevin is trying to talk to Elizabeth - trying to tell her to get it together. He says "you've got a coup in there you have no control of them". Ugh ELizabeth SUCKS SUCKS!!!!

Kevin is telling her what to do...get it together. Kevin is so cool to even try to help her. Obviously he wants to win so they don't go to the boardroom, but he did everything humanly possible to get this task together and to help ELizabeth. DId I mention how much she SUCKS. SHe cannot make a decision to save her life.

Apex is up. Their campaign looks weak (no really?). It's a mish mosh of stuff

Mosaic. Andy sounds good pitching. Kelly sounds good pitching. "When was the last time" theme seems to be going over well with the ad peeps.

When was the last time you fought terrorism? WHen was the last time you made your family proud?

Nice music in the background. It looks about a thousand times better than the crap Apex put together.

Elizabeth is going to be reemed. I would say the fact that her idea was nixed by everyone else in favor of military (which obviously was NOT pulling at the heart strings and NOT wanted) was a good thing for Elizabeth, BUT she just is completely unable to lead and there is just no way I can imagine a scenario where she won't be going home tonight.

FOr the boardroom. Jen said "I head you coaching her...you're not on our team..it's not fair".

Elizabeth and Raj are talking. Raj says he'll be under fire for having the military idea. He says if everyone thought it was such a bad idea, they wouldn't have gone with it.

The Mosaic ad was fantastic, ready for the public the way it was. Andy and Kelly both presented wonderfully. How unusual it was to see a team complete a task so well -- this is a real feather in Andy's cap!

.... Ummm, just what did Jen M & Ivana do at all during this task? They apparently did not put ANY ideas on the table at all, did not seem to be active during the filming... just what did they DO? How did Elizabeth see fit to (try) to take Raj and Chris into the boardroom when the women seemed to have made even LESS of a contribution?

It's very untypical of Jenn to not do anything at all. Probably they just edit out the part where Jen was doing something constructive.

I see the logic for Elizabeth for taking Raj and Chris. Raj is the one who insisted on the military idea, while Chris is the one who came up with the slogan about being the front line (what is it again? Is it "Being on the front line from the other side of the world" or something?)

I actually thought Apex's tag line was pretty good - it was evocative and if it was handled in the right way, it had potential to really hit people's emotions. With the right music and some softer copy - and with "hero" type shots instead of gestapo raids, it could have worked and been at least competitive. Elizabeth's instincts about the military angle was right. That pulsing music and the stark graphics in the TV ad were all wrong. And that was the worst looking print mock-up I have ever seen. The colors were awful - it was so busy you couldn't even read the copy. And Raj and Chris were like caricatures of human beings tonight - it's too bad she's so freakin wimpy she can't control her team at all.

Mosaic's finished piece came together really well. (much better than I thought they would) Thematically it moved really well between the print and the television ads. Seamless. Loved how they put a face to the uniform and had a clear, concise, powerful message. I was pleasantly surprised.

I agree. They could have played up HERO and not gone for WE WILL KILL PEOPLE and been much more effective. I never did really get what Elizabeth was trying to seel them other than not military, and frankly, I don't think it would have mattered because Mosaic's was that good. Andy totally smoked them. There was no need for sex in that ad and I'm glad that his team won and he stood his ground.

Finally a project that seemed to be complete and thought-out. I do believe that might be a first for this season. Who would have thought it would come from Andy?

I don't think Maria and Kelly were entirely off base. I don't feel like they wanted to sell sex as they much as they wanted to sex up the ads. That wouldn't work in the concept that Andy had - it would have been totally out of place. But, if they had gone a different, edgier route early on - I don't think it would have been a horrible direction to go off in. They are trying to appeal to young men primarily. The easiest way to do that is with the sexier aspects of police work - guns, the cars, the power, etc. I don't think anyone wanted to see shirtless guys on motorcycles - but an urban-themed recruiting message would not have been a total disaster.

As powerful as Andy's concept ended up being - it sounded stodgey and like it would appeal to people like - well, like you and me, kim. In other words, not their target market. I would have had the same concerns early on as they had - but, Andy put together a great cohesive package.

And I agree - I don't think Elizabeth had a clue about what she wanted other than that it wasn't what she had. It's a shame - that tag line could have worked.

Agreed, Lisa.

I think Maria should not have said "We need more sex" since I thought she meant that they should make the ad a little cooler (for lack of better word). That doesn't mean "cops straddling their bikes" but using a more hip, edgier, sexier campaign to recruit the 18-30 year-olds. But any time Maria says ANYTHING, it basically sounds like "I need more sex."

Also, I must admit, as a visitor to NYC, I have seen some REALLY hot cops, both male and female. I've stayed in the Chelsea and a precinct is right around the corner. My friend and I would just plant ourselves across the street and drool.
