"Hawkeye 10, Episode 10"

Hawkeye 10, Episode 10: "Where gnome man has gone before" OR "Birdbrains in Turkey."

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

6. Speaking of gnomes (another little-known fact: Travelocity is a sponsor of this show) Meredith named his gnome “Jerome” after Gretchen suggested the slightly less inventive name, “Gnome.” What did the other racers call their gnome? Bonus: What would some of the eliminated racers have called theirs if they had made it this far in the race?

7. According to Phil, weighing people is a common practice on the streets of Istanbul. Why is this popular in Turkey, and why hasn’t it caught on in the streets of New York City yet? Reality Crossover Superbonus: If Katie from “Survivor: Palau” had been in Istanbul at the same time of the race leg, how many times would she have had to step on the scale before the racers reached their kilo quota?

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

Only four people did my Survivor hawkeye. Don't make me sad like the Survivor fans did.

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

Naming rights for their first born child

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting
married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.

There is no experience that can prepare you for the ultimate torture. A recent memo found in Iraq for Osama Bin Laden directed that Kelly be captured and used to torture captives

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

India does not want it's labor to be organized because then the US will off-shore all call centers to Mali to reduce labor costs. The Indian Government set up Rob Jedi Mind Jamming Devices to protect the public which turned the travel agents against him

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

Any of the ones that changes the behavior of the host so that they are more likely to get themselves killed

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

He would have been looking for a represenation of Nome, Alaska.
He would have checked people's ab's for scars

Rob and Amber: Lex
Uchena and Joyce: Uchena Junior
Ron and Kelly: RPG

7. According to Phil, weighing people is a common practice on the streets of Istanbul. Why is this popular in Turkey, and why hasn’t it caught on in the streets of New York City yet? Reality Crossover Superbonus: If Katie from “Survivor: Palau” had been in Istanbul at the same time of the race leg, how many times would she have had to step on the scale before the racers reached their kilo quota?

currently 3, if she makes the final two, 1

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?

When they replace Phil with a talking Pitstop Mat

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?

Separate vacations

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

The roads are infested with gnomes

The next edition of TAR has four person teams, and of course Rob and Amber need to be on that one also, but the tour guide and his girlfriend could complete their foursome.

Because Gretchen paid the travel agents not to tell Rob, and if Rob had any questions the travel agents could just point over to her where she would be grinning ear to ear.

The scientific laboratory where the human genome project was taking place, as it was in his mind because he and Amber were discussing it the other day after he read an article on it in Scientifiic American.

Or he would have flown to Nome, Alaska.

Rob and has been calling out "Amber, Amber" thorughout the race, and it seems to be working for him.

Rob doesn't have his Red Sox hat so when you are sitting so high up in the driver's seat it is hard to know whom to drive the bus into.

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the
couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited,
what else might they have offered him to get him
to stay for the extra 12 hours?

Amber.

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly?

Having the audio from Gretchen's travels piped directly into your ears twenty-four hours a day. That's your future in forty years, Ron. Only louder.

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India
be “so over Rob?”

Okay, so maybe it wasn't Amber...

And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight
Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

And here we've been presuming that anyone who recognized them would want to help them. Oops.

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that
best describes her personality and racing style.

Tapeworm. Attaches herself to whatever's handy, hooks in deep, drains your strength, and no matter how many times you vomit, it doesn't make her leave.

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island?

Gretchen.

And what would have happened if the clue asked
him to find a scarab?

I'm not sure, but I think the phrase 'Yankees suck' would have come into it somewhere.

6. Speaking of gnomes (another little-known fact: Travelocity is a sponsor of this show) Meredith named his gnome “Jerome” after Gretchen suggested the slightly less inventive name, “Gnome.” What did the other racers call their gnome?

Rob/Amber: Dicque
Uchenna/Joyce: 'Our sweet little baby, and we don't love him any less for being adopted.'
Ron/Kelly: Rumsfeld.
Lynn/Alex: Totally unfashionable.
Ryan/Chuck: Poppa.
Brian/Greg: Dude.
Debbie/Bianca: Retro.

7. According to Phil, weighing people is a common practice on
the streets of Istanbul. Why is this popular in Turkey, and why hasn’t it caught on in the streets of New York City yet?

A. Your average resident of Istanbul doesn't weigh three hundred pounds.
B. Rub it in, rub it in, rub it in...

Reality Crossover Superbonus: If Katie from
“Survivor: Palau” had been in Istanbul at the same time
of the race leg, how many times would she have had to step on the
scale before the racers reached their kilo quota?

She probably would have comitted murder after the second request, so the initial killing quota would be two, followed by whatever number of witnesses happened to be around at the time, followed by everyone who'd seen the tape, followed by everyone who might see the tape...

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to
inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out
“Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called
out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be
useful in the race?

Talking to her husband. (Inanimate object: something which does not have the power to move on its own -- wait, that also describes Gretchen...)

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you
to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000
they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice
to them be?

'Iraq's nice this time of year.'

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are
shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

Rob and Amber stopped their bus to see if there was anything they could do to help Brian and Greg.

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

An autographed red T-shirt with a lowercase "a" on the front.

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.

Watching endless hours of footage from "Jonathan & Victoria's Greatest Hits" while simultaneously listening to Flo harping on Zach.

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

Indian travel agents are big Lex fans.

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

Mosquito carrying the West Nile virus. Obnoxious in the short term and sickening in the long term.

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

See, Amber's college degree is good for something after all. She probably would've known what a scarab was as well! Without her, Rob would have spent hours looking for a local who spoke English to help him find this "gnome".

Uchenna/Joyce: Baldy
Rob/Amber: Derek Jeter
Ron: Saddam
Kelly: Miss North Carolina
Brian: Greg
Greg: Brian
Debbie/Bianca: "No hablamos ingles"

Public ridicule apparently isn't a deterrent in Turkey like it is in NY. Did anyone notice that only Turkish men got onto the scales?

Katie wouldn't get on the scale at all, as that would mean she had to do something.

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?

If TAR has an Alias-themed roadblock requiring entry into a secured facility to steal a Rambaldi device.

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?

"I'm sorry, Ron, but you can't use all the money to book a one-way ticket for Kelly."

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

Gretchen is riding in front of them in a wooden elephant, and darn it, THIS IS A RACE!

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?
An invitation to stand up as best guide at their upcoming nuptials.
2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.
Working as gardener for Jonathan and Victoria for a year.
3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?
Rob was confused and thought he was speaking of the Cleveland Indians, which naturally irritated the heck out of the good folks of India. This resulted in the travel agents being extremely pissed at him.
4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.
She is kin to computer parasites that infect your system and refuse to allow you to do what you want, instead, hijacking your system and making it do what it wants.
5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?
Rob would still be on the island, looking for a clue. Had he been looking for a scarab, he would be looking for a man in Thobe (traditional Arab dress).
Others called the gnome "Extra Weight".
Turkey - stopping to get weighed is a social event. New York - Stopping is a suicidal event. Katie - Wouldn't work - the scales only go so high.
8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?
Practice for talking at Meredith when he in a drunken stupor from trying to escape the sound of her voice.
9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?
Ron could use it to get away from Kelly for a rest - somewhere more peaceful, like Iraq.
10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?
Joyce is afaid it will begin to buck like the horse she had to ride. Meredith because Gretchen is on top of the bus waving her arms at bystanders and yelling "Help Him!"

I'm so sorry. I am stealing this time to respond here, cause I feel so bad about not having the time to do the other one.

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

A new job "organizing Indian labor".

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.

Chugging half a gallon of Sunbeam blended blood-fat leeches on "Couples Fear Factor".

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

The Indian Labour (sic) Union announced a peaceful boycott against anyone else attempting to "organize Indian labor".

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

Kelly (she is a parasite, after all).

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

Rob would have asked a local to pick up an abridged Hindi/English dictionary (at their own expense, of course) at the nearest book shop, and later look up the word in both languages.
As the for the scarab, Rob would say, "Oh, that's easy, there's plenty of scared Arabs around here, just don't tell the other teams, especially Ron."

Gretchen (alternative): "Heeeeere, gnomie, gnomie!"
Uchenna/Joyce: The Om Gnome (with their curiosity about other cultures, finding out that Om, pronounced correctly with a long O, is a holy chant in religious culture in India).
Rob/Amber: Stoneface
Ron/Kelly: Unresolved argument over "Huey" and "Bob Barker"
Lynn/Alex: Impenetrable
Megan/Heidi: White butt
Brian/Greg: Grandma's next Christmas gift
Susan/Patrick: Dad's next Christmas gift
Debbie/Bianca: Los Andes
Ray/Deana: (Unnamed) trailer park decor
Chuck/Ryan: (Unnamed) used for .22 target practice

7. According to Phil, weighing people is a common practice on the streets of Istanbul. Why is this popular in Turkey, and why hasn’t it caught on in the streets of New York City yet?

The latest advisory from the State Department indicates that there exist a possible, but unverifiable, danger to American citizens from scale bombs in public places.

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?

During the climax of the final leg, she calls out "Here, mat, mat!" and the TAR welcome mat flies like a flying carpet (with Phil on it) to their location before the other teams arrive.

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?

"Well, let's see... you've been to Baghdad, so let's book you for a one-way no-class vacation to Pyongyang, complete with added bonus of a prison tour courtesy of the Dear Leader."

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

Dang it, they drive on the left side of the road!

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

A menage a trois!!!

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.

A week with Colin, Ray or Jonathan.

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

They are so over Rob because he tried to steal one of their sacred cows from the street. You see, he was hungry and figured he could get at least 4 pounds of meat out of it.

His powers didn't work because he doesn't have Jonathan's Jedi Mind Trick ability.

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

Whichever one is the most ignorant.

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

He would have been looking for the Turkish version of Sanjay.

If it were a scarab, he would've quit just like Marshall and Lance did.

Uchenna/Joyce - junior
Romber - dwarf
Ron/Kelly - statue thingy

No bonus this time!

We don't do it here in the states because we Americans are too overweight. Although, I've heard it's catching on out in L.A.

Ummm... I don't watch Survivor, so I have no idea.

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?

If she were talking to Amber or Ron.

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?

Go in opposite directions.

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

Kelly and Rob are having trouble too and almost crashed into them.

Woo hoo! You have almost double the amount of replies here!

I've never done one of these before so I'm going to not read anyone elses answers so that I don't borrow much better answers.

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

An chance to be best man at their wedding?
2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.

Doing an allstar version of TAR with Janice Dickinson (or is it Dickerson? the judge from ANTM)
3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

They are big Lex fans over there?
4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

a preying mantis, but that's not a parasite.
5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

I think he would have waited to Ron and Kelly got there and convinced them to tell him and then left on the ferry without them.

R/K: Powome
U/J: Hairome
L/A: Gayome
R/D: Suckitupome

R/A: Lex

I think you'd get punched if you tried to weigh people on NYC streets.
I think Katie would exceed the scale limit and therefore be illegible to compete. She could stand around and do puppet shows about other people being weighed though.
8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?

Yes, when talking to Amber!
9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?

Ron: Go to Austraila, Kelly: go to Siberia. Is that far enough apart?
10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

There is no one to follow!

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

An old Nomar jersey that Rob has been trying to unload for months.

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.

A group therapy session with Christie and Aaron, for starters.

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

a) India has a hard time understanding Rob's accent on the phone when they call for tech support.
b) The smog got in the way of his brainwaves and reflected them back to Uchenna.

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

That gross scorpion-looking thing that came out of Chekov's ear in one of the Star Trek movies.

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

a) A rock, of which there were only a few thousand on the island.
b) He'd have hurt both his knees.

R/A: Too bad he's no longer with the Sox, because "Gnome-ar" would have been most appropriate.
R/K: Projectile.
U/J: Former CEO (to be hurled off that suspension bridge in the background of the Pit Stop).
###
Lynn/Alex: Rob (to be crushed under a 4x4 tire).
Brian/Greg: Bottle opener.
Ray/Deana: Stress reliever.
Susan/Patrick: Whine suppressant.
Debbianca: Navigator.
Megan/Heidi: Oh, how CUUUUTE!
Ryan/Chuck: Block for our Chevy (we need only 3 more!).

It's actually a very new leisure activity, started by Ryan and Chuck after they were Philiminated. They figured since they wanted to load-test things, they might as well try Turkey (the most populated European country) and see how many Turks it would take to tip Western Europe up into the air. The only reason it hasn't caught on in NYC is people are afraid if someone takes their weight, they won't give it back.
(I pass on the bonus because I don't watch Survivor.)

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?

If ever the race goes to Saudi Arabia, she won't have to run to the mat. She can just call, "Mat, mat!" and it (or someone named Matt) will come to her.

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?

"How about two weeks of timeshare presentations?"

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

They're being circled by the TAR 6 teams who are still trying to figure out those damned Trabants.

1. Rob and Amber’s “tour guide” apparently stayed with the couple during the pit stop. Since their money is limited, what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?
The next free trip they're supposed to win.

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.
Perhaps some kind of "Live the Middle Ages" vacation package, where he got to play "The Heretic".

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?
They just didn't understand him. The only foreign language they speak is English.

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.
A flea. Fleas are small (petty) and they make your skin crawl just thinking about them.

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?
Maybe he'd think it was an acronym anagram and look for an emong or a nogem. Scarab...hm...barcas...brasac. Yeah, that's the one: he'd have been looking for a brasac.

U/J: no name, they were just so happy to have a gnome
R/A: whoever was the pitcher for the Red Sox when they won the WS
R/K: Redhat trash

Brian/Greg: Yoda
Ryan/Chuck: Billy Bob
Mega/Heidi: Little Gnome-y Guy

Did you just call NYC fat?

Bonus: I don't watch Survivor. Is it funnier if I say "2 times" or "2000 times"?

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?
All the good mat jokes have been taken.

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?
Kelly: Iraq. And give her an "I hate Mohammed" shirt, too. Ron: the opposite direction.

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?
Meredith left his turn signal on. Rob keeps cutting the others off, but waving thanks, like they meant to let him in, when they really didn't. Joyce keeps missing opportunities to merge with traffic. Kelly puts on lipstick using the rear-view mirror and swerves all over, nearly crashing into the others.

Dammit. Thanks, Cygnus

That's an "anagram", hon.

I am also confused about acronyms. For example, Lynn and Alex came up with this one for Romber that I could not figure out:

All Star Survivors Hold Onto Lead Every Show

Nice one.

Actually, I know what both an anagram and an acronym are. I sometimes say the wrong word, and think I'm saying the right one. Witness my use of "Roadblock" instead of "Fast Forward". I once insisted to a manager that I had charged someone $5 for a large pizza and drinks, when it was $15. I am quite capable of having an entire conversation about cantalope when I mean watermelon. I'm glad to be corrected, by the way. I also want to know when I have something stuck between my teeth.

Some wicked seats for the Ohpenah at da Fenz next season.

2. Ron realized he had several things to do in life before settling down and getting married. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly? Hint: You're probably not aware of this, but Ron was once in Iraq. That experience doesn't count.
Listening to 10,000 hours of harpy eagle screeching at 120 dB.

3. Rob said he was “so over India.” Why might India be “so over Rob?” And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?
George Steinbrenner is considered a Hindu god, just below Vishnu in their hierarchy.

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.
The Robfaddah, mastah parasite in two-- count 'em-- two Reality World favorites.

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island? And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?
He'd be looking for a town in northern Alaska. If the clue had called for a scarab, Robfaddah would have looked for a guy from Mecca wearing a kilt.

Joyce called hers "Harry" ("Hairy"); Ambah called hers "Jiffy"; Ron called his "Kelly".

The sinking Turkish economy allows for limited entertainment opportunities, so people have taken to weighing contests to see who gets control of the one remote in the entire city. It would take 1937294712947629105729483 Katies to reach the kilo quota (but only if they were soaking wet when on the scale).

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?
Wait a minute, you mean Meredith actually is animate?

9. You are a travel agent, and Ron/Kelly have called you to ask for advice on how to spend the $20,000 they won to use at Travelocity. What would your advice to them be?
What ever you do, don't book a room next to Saddam Hussein!

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?
The driving instructions are printed in English.

1. what else might they have offered him to get him to stay for the extra 12 hours?

Knowing that afterwards he would never need to see these two again...that in and of itself is priceless.

2. What sort of life experiences would best prepare someone for being married to someone like Kelly?

The name of a good divorce lawyer.

3. Why might India be “so over Rob?”

Is this rhetorical or just asking the obvious?!?!

And why weren’t his powers of persuasion strong enough to convince the India travel agents to tell him about the flight Uchenna, Joyce, Meredith and Gretchen caught?

He called them gnomes (see answer to question 5)

4. Kelly called Uchenna a leech. Now pick a parasite that best describes her personality and racing style.

I think entomologists have a new breed in development and have decided to actually call it "kelly"

5. Rob, quick to assess others’ intelligence, wasn’t sure what a gnome was. If Amber hadn’t been there to define the word, what would Rob have been looking for at the island?

You see, the producers told Rob the look for the Gnome with the airplane (see conspircay theories), but unfortunately Rob thought "gnome" was the local word for travel agent and he was supposed to look for a gnome for the earlier flight. Unfortunately their combined brain capacity is extremely lacking (hey they have to remember to breathe don't they?) so after their orirginal search for the gnome failed he thought the word was no longer useful enough to remember.

And what would have happened if the clue asked him to find a scarab?

"Hey Amber we need to find crabs, but I don't know why they have a typo?!?"

6. What did the other racers call their gnome?

I don't know what they called them, but I know what they did with them off camera:

Joyce was seen trying to cut off its hair for use.
Amber quickly knit a little red "a" shirt for it and a red baseball cap
Ron told it how he reminded him of the lawns in Iraq

7. Why is this popular in Turkey,

Because it was the deal breaker for getting TAR to stop there.

and why hasn’t it caught on in the streets of New York City yet?

Now that Bloomberg knows this he will be sharing this plan with the Olympic Committee for the bid.

Reality Crossover Superbonus: If Katie from “Survivor: Palau” had been in Istanbul at the same time of the race leg, how many times would she have had to step on the scale before the racers reached their kilo quota?
To repeat the others "getting up" would probably be too much effort.

8. Gretchen seems to have adopted a habit of talking to inanimate objects. In the town square, she was crying out “Scales! Scales!” Later, on top of the fortress, she called out “Here, key!” In what situation might this tactic be useful in the race?
She figured if Romber could ear her when she talked so could these.

9. What would your advice to them be?
Is there any place left in the world that will not remind him of Iraq?

10. In the previews for next week, Joyce and Meredith are shown having trouble driving double-decker buses. What's happening on the road around them to get them so frustrated?

You missed the behind the scenese footage...Joyce and the rest of the cast and crew are rolling over with laughter because Gretchen decided she needed to climb on top of the bus and Meredith keeps stopping short in an effort to throw her off.

Hi baroque! Loved 1, 5 and 10 especially. Welcome to the boards, and hope you keep playing.
