"“The Apprentice”"

So who is gonna watch this?

http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Apprentice/

Series Premiere
8:30/7:30pm Thursday, January 8th

Episode 2, Regular Night/Time
8/7pm Wednesday, January 14th

In a bold new reality series that tests competitors' survival techniques in New York City's corporate jungle, NBC and executive producer Mark Burnett (“Survivor”) will team up for "The Apprentice," a 13-episode series in which candidates vie for the chance to become an "apprentice" to a "master." During the first season of "The Apprentice," legendary business tycoon Donald Trump will serve as the "master" and his business empire, The Trump Organization, will be the hub of the competition.

In the series' concept, approximately 16 candidates from all walks of life, including both Ivy League MBA graduates and street entrepreneurs with no college education, will endure rigorous selection as they are tested for their intelligence, chutzpah and street-smarts. They will face the challenges of living together in close quarters, must complete sometimes humorous but always difficult job assignments and will be forced to think outside the box in order to outshine each other to get to the top.

Candidates not completing the job assignment successfully will meet face to face with Trump after each round of competition, enduring a grueling interview session with Trump and some of his key executives. Each week Trump will fire one candidate from the contest. In the season’s final episode, one promising and ambitious person will emerge supreme and will win the chance for the dream job of a lifetime with the Trump Organization.

Burnett is the Emmy Award-winning executive producer of “Survivor” and “Eco-Challenge.” Burnett’s entrepreneurial spirit inspired the birth of the reality “unscripted” drama series, garnered skyrocketing ratings and introduced millions of Americans to an entirely different television genre. Burnett is partnering with Reveille and Magna Global Entertainment to produce NBC’s “The Restaurant,” which will be broadcast this summer.

“The Apprentice” is produced by Mark Burnett Productions. Mark Burnett is executive producer and is represented by Conrad Riggs who will also serve as a producer on the project.

I'm definitely going to watch... if only because I've read that these people have real talent and brains-- so they're supposedly looking for more than just their 15 minutes. I guess we'll see!

I put up a story profiling the contestants (and headshots) yesterday:

Oh yeah, I gonna watch. The winner actually gets to work for Trump? Looks very competitve considering the applicants education and achievements. And the ones without a college degree will have to rely on their "streets smarts?"... I can see the Drama unfolding as we speak.

I'll probably try it. I think the key will be making my job look better watching other people do shi__y menial tasks for The Donald.

The mitzvah that is my signpic courtesy the genius that is our own JSlice. Such a nice girl! Now, have some more borscht.

I am going to watch just because it might be different than the other reality shows. We are not as likely to see contestants on this who have already been on Blind Date and other shows. I don't think the contestants on this show will be there for their 15 minutes of fame as much as to prove they can do the job.

It does sound pretty intriguing, even if I'm not too crazy about The Donald... the fact that Mark Burnett is producing this thing has piqued my interest, as well.

Bring it on, it sounds fun!

I can't wait! As a "survivor" of more than one corporate battle, I bet this thing will get downright nasty somewhere along the way.

Talk about Type A personalities!

I'm looking for sabotage, politics, brown-nosing, espionage, threats, deals, backstabbing, the kitchen sink. They'll get catty. They'll get snarky. And MB will craft a masterpiece. These people aren't palying for a title and some money. For most of them, this is the career opportunity of a lifetime, for a lifetime.

Who would have thunk - wall street types would be involved in:

I'm shocked!

I'll absolutely be watching. I think this sounds like a great show. I can't wait to see some of the egotistical jerks get their egos stomped on. I hope there are a few I will love and root for.

I'll be suckered into watching at least the first couple of shows. The fact that MB is behind it makes me think that it'll be worth watching. I can't wait to see the backstabbing begin.

I wouldn't miss it. I'm hoping one of the "fired" contestants will lose it and tear off The Donald's hairpiece.

Welcome to the jungle! Business is the only reality show.

Trump intimidates with the ostentatious (bad but effective taste) suite to plant the psychological seeds of success and dominance in his opponent’s head.

$ex $ell$ BIG TIME! But don’t depend on T&A alone for success, even if you just selling T&A. Women are bitche$. But you gotta love em.

Woman’s team leader’s insecurities manifests as control. Needs to let talent breath. Tammy Lee go home. Omarsoa – interesting. Heidi, Jessie, Kristi, Ereka, Ameika - $ex $ell$ !! Which ones were the doers and team builders?

Dave – gone. Maybe he added the numbers and counted his fingers after shaking Trump's hand. I’d have booted him too. Jason – Insecurities are making you belligerent. The man will not suffer a fool. Kwame – Hustles. Great scheme to cut costs. Sam hustler, but neurotically greasy slick. He was selling #####, but at least he was selling. Or was he? Nick I think may have said something intelligent. Bowie and Bill – who were they? Troy – great motivator. Fair leadership traits. Is easily misled by trust. When Trump asked, “Would you trust him with your bank account?” The correct answer was – “No, I never trust anyone with my money”. He also simply trusted the location without question. Product/Customers/Delivery. Where in NYC are there thirsty rich pedestrians? Wall Street? Time Square?

I PREDICT the winner to be Kristi – one of the girls that took control, got something done, and sold the old fashioned way – with a pretty $mile.

I half-heartedly applied because as Quick_learner also observed - the deal was too vague. A job or a #####? I’d rather have $1 million and you can take this job and shove it. $200K for 1 year of my life sucking up to the man, waiting for crumbs, with a deal so vague that says only one thing – I got nothing. I’d rather live poor in a great place than rich in a sewer infested gold plated rat hole. Besides I’m too psycho to have money and power. I’d use it to sterilize humans and charge them to create diverse perfect children. Think about how many problems that would solve. I’m a real visionary - almost as bad as Hitler. Next to me simple avarice doesn’t sound so scary.
