Casting twins on the Race is not stunt casting. Casting Romber was stunt casting. Casting twins on the Race is, so far, a guarantee that the twins will not win.

For Big Brother, it's stunt casting. Not sure how it'll work here. Two sets isn't a good sign, though.

At least I'm not getting the Weaver vibe from the Fogels. Yet.

I don't want the two groups to meet up in the first episode! I want them each to elimate three teams, have the remaining ones think they're Final Two and heading for the finish line, and then -- heh. But they ruined it. Figures.

My local tv critic had the same complaint, only with the strategically-placed strikeout. He also bashed the show. So far, the overall reviews aren't looking too good: the Metacritic average is somewhere in the 30s.

ETA: Okay, I was wrong. So basically, they must have been flown in at separate times, brought to the building in buses on different approach roads -- anything to keep them from seeing another bunch of people with camera and sound technicians following them everywhere. Mt. Rushmore isn't in NEbraska, it's in South Dakota. It's about an 8 hour drive from Omaha, if you take I-29 North in Iowa. They may of taken a state hi-way through central NE.

The live finale is so that they can incorporate the online treasure hunt in the show. They're going to fly 10 of their online contestants in for a "special treasure hunt" and plan to incorporate that, ahem, action into the show as well.

Pretty good showing so far. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy the first hour that much. I didn't really like bouncing back and forth between locations that much. And watching them decode the Morse Code was a snooze.

However, everything from Nebraska onward was good. I liked how cleverly some of the clues fit together, such as the location names and the different items. The Mount Rushmore code was pretty nice too. Not too "out there" and farfetched at all. With some careful thought, the solution comes along pretty logically.

I'm liking the clues so far. It was hilarious to see those Deliverance Boys inspect anything that they could move. Hey, that rock looks suspicious...

I agree. I am liking the clues! This looks like it will be a great, fun summer show!

The Mullet Man (men?) were ridiculous with the "everything's a clue" stuff! "Hey, look! A pile of broken branches! Let's move them all!"

They definitely don't live like that "hardcore" Eagle Scout (is that an oxymoron?) who would/should "leave no trace".

I'm liking it to, and not just because it featured my home state. It feels like a cross between TAR, a great show, and The Mole, the greatest game show ever created. A few teams are obviously out classed, but should be a great race to the end.

I can honestly say I did not like the show. Maybe it will grow on me, but so far, I feel like TAR blows it away. This is so disorganized and a free for all. There is more thinking involved, I like all the traveling and hard core racing. Maybe that has yet to come...I will keep watching because summer TV is down right horrible.

I agree too, and it not like you can get away with not being in good shape. If the Browns were in the first bus to arrive at Mount Rushmore and they would have been last if the Genius & Y.P. teams had not messed up.

Opps, I am wrong, I just realized team 'Hill Billies' would never have solved the puzzle on thier own. But how can they win (Browns) when just a walk up the stairs/hillside causes the really fat one to collapse, and we will not talk about swinning events

The young Professionals were eliminated.

I liked: - The clues such as having the bus going in the wrong direction until you tell the driver where to go and then having a wrong destination accepted!

-The Bunching had a purpose. It matched the best teams of part 1 together, leaving the slowest paired up.

I hated: The host.

-The product placement with Motorola featured on every clue Laird gave.

The unbalanced teams. I can say right now that either Air Force, Ex-CIA or Southie Boys are going to win and may all be in final 3. Teams "Wild Turkeys", "Too much Brownies", "Miss 1 brain for 3 bodies", Team "Guess how we got our As" and Team "We have 9 diplomas and don't know what to do with'em" don't have a chance. The "Weavers wannabees" are going to be the vilains. A preacher stealing a clue and his wife rejoicing in others' misery; nice!

I really liked this show it reminded me of the first season of TAR when contestants had figure out where they were going rather than just being told where to go. It makes it so anyone really has a chance.
HATE the New Weavers if I were racing Mama would have gotten a punch in the throat from me for all the screeching

Lust the Southie Boys (have weakness for Boston accents)

sort of rooting for the Browns as I always go for the underdogs

loved that they started out with in two different places

I'd alos like to see the grad students do well as they are an all female team but I dont have a lot of hope I expect Ms's USA will be gone soon

I enjoyed the show. And yes, it is more like the first season of TAR. They had alot more puzzles to figure out back then. Now TAR puts on contestants that can't find the box no matter how many times they walk right by it on a bridge. *sigh* I remember the days when they had to analyze things and it wasn't printed in big bold letters for them.

This show makes them figure things out. I like that. The Miss USA gals standing around Alaska waiting for someone to help them was just pathetic.

And The Fogels are quickly becoming my team to hate.

I love reading these "live" threads, you guys crack me up. I need to get my laptop fixed so I can get back online while viewing.

Anyway, I enjoyed the show so far. Sound/editing/casting could be better, but not everyone is Mark Burnett, so I allow some leeway for that.

I love that there are real clues in this competition, though I really thought they were all too easy so far. I couldn't believe some of the teams had a hard time with "Stillwater Washington" before I even saw there was a map I figured it was Lake something. I was also surprised it was so difficult for the teams to figure out Mount Rushmore and when they had to open the boxes with the combination I was extremely dumbfounded that so many teams didn't immediately put in the numbers of the president's term in the order they were on Mt. Rushmore. To me, all the clues were pretty obvious and I agree with the team (YPs, I think) who said they were OVER-analyzing.

The second best thing about this is the fact that they could give 2 answers the driver will follow with only one right answer. That was great.

The casting could have been a lot better -- as said above with the stereotyping with the "Browns" -- was this the only African American family/related group that applied? You had to choose 3 less-than-fit men who can't swim? I have to say that until reality shows I never realized that so many African Americans are bouyancy-challenged. This stereotype has got to be blown on one of these shows.

I agree that it seems a foregone conclusion which teams are most likely to make it to the end, as so many don't have a clue no matter how hard they look for one *ahem-mullet-brigade-ahem*. So, will there be a romance in the making between Miss USA clone and the mullet?? She sure finds is sexy. My money is on ex-CIA or Air Force with the Southies being the dark horse.

Damn those geniouses for giving the answer to wild mullets, now I have to watch that mullet look at everything under the sun as a potential clue with the hillbilly twanging in the background. Shoot me now. Yet more stereotyping at its finest.

I liked the show -- for the most part.

I agree, the casting is rather weak, but it is just following what has become di regueur for reality shows these days.

I'm worried, however, that the show will prove to be too esoteric for the tv public and will meet a slow and lonely death.

Even the online poll seems to assume a higher level of education then most. I'm not sure how many in the average audience have heard of Petra or why Crete or Jerusalem may be a place to look for treasure.

I don't know if I'd watch it if it weren't summer-season. As it is, I thought it was OK.

The preacher family didn't bother me as much as they seem to have bothered everyone else. I thought they were a refreshing change from the religious folks who go on reality TV and then say that they won't bluff (lie), weasle, fight, etc to get ahead. IMO, if the rules allow it, you had better be doing it, and if you're not willing to do what it takes to win, sit your butt back down on the couch and let someone play who really wants it.

I loved that they could pick the wrong location.

I liked that the clues required a bit of deductive skill.

I hated that they replayed the video phone instructions a billion times each. Twice, I can see. Four or more times is way over the top. The show was only 2 hours long, fer cryin' out loud. (Producer to audience: I think that you're all total idiots who have been watching so much TV that your attention span has been reduced to levels that would make a freaking goldfish blush with shame.)
