How long did they spend in that church before they figured out that clue?
As soon as I saw the clue at the castle, I noticed the large amount of empty space and figured that there would be something that made the clue show up. But it took them so.long. to figure it out.And why do people follow locals in these things? Many times, locals don't know about all the touristy stuff in their own cities. I can't tell anyone where to find the touristy stuff around here, but I can easily direct them to any A&W within a three mile radius.
I knew the spy was Benjamin Franklin before the episode started. When I saw that they were headed to Paris and London, I said, "Yeah. This all has to do with Benjamin Franklin." But I have read an 800-page biography of him, so maybe I have an advantage.

So basically I should be on this show. Except I'd have to go with someone who's slightly less physically inept than I am. And slightly more mature with common sense.

DH figured out the candles immediately too. It took them 4 hours, DH had it in 4 seconds that they needed to heat up the parchment with the candles. We both laughed and said "Didn't they watch National Treasure before they left for this?"

Maybe I'm wrong, but why didn't they use their *product placement* (but I forget the model) laptops and good old *product placement* ask.com and do a little research on Franklin to see what ways he used for his hidden messages?The old-invisible-ink-brought-out-by-heat thing is fairly well-known, I believe.

It is the same for the Catacombs. Both ASK.com and Google point to a page that not only tells you which subway stop to exit at, but also tells you that the entrance to the catacombs is directly across the street from the subway exit.Why are the teams not using thier computers more? Don't they know how to use them off-line so that they collect info in Paris then read it while on the ferry for example?

I wonder if they can only use Ask.com. I would imagine Google and other search engines are blocked somehow and maybe, just maybe all of the information they need is already downloaded to the search engine. I only wonder because putting in clues into Google vs Ask, Google gets to the solution much faster.Anyone know for sure?

I would guess for 'product placement' reasons alone. On the otherhand I used ASK.com to see how well it answers the clues. And if the answer is not the top entry (which it often is) I have always found it on the first page from ASK.comThus that is not really a limitation that would explain them not using the computer more.

As a child, we wasted (in mom's opinion) many a bottle of lemon juice writing secret messages to each other. Since she thought candles were too dangerous, we had to use the oven instead. Didn't any of the contestants do this?

Well, carrying an oven in their backpacks would have been particularly tough for the contestants to do.Seriously... I never knew that about lemon juice.
Still, big piece of paper and only a small amount of text? Hellooooo? There's a reason for that space on the paper.

Did you get the idea from Mr. Science like I did, or from those non-adult mystery books that I saw later? I even believe one of the Scooby-Doo cartoons used that idea once.

I had it in an activity book as a kid.And they've used it on Alias too.
