That Fogel girl really needs to learn to STFU.

Cool! They get to break their masks and find a coin.

Who was America's first spy?

The Geniuses say they need to eliminate the Fogals.

Yes, but first team genius messed up a bunch of teams again. When will people learn not to follow them?

Is that what happened to Air Force? I was away from the TV for half a second...

Good on the Southies for figuring out the arrow clue.

The fair-haired Genius guy is truly unpleasant. Their team seems about to self-destruct at any moment.

I did not expect them to make it, but they did.

Why, oh why did they spend so much time standing around the mound. As so as they got the clue they should have moved away. I am surprise the Focals did not see them from the castle top.

And it looks like that Team Genius is breaking up, they don't seem so smart in this leg.

The Southie boys must learn to trust thier instincts, if they had just gone on thier own they would be in the lead now by themselves.

I am suspicious of their time lines. I think the first 3 teams may have been gone from Dover Castle before the other teams even got there. But they are trying to convince us the race is closer than it is.

I believe you. I saw no sign of moving lights when the Fogals were looking.

Almost 4 hours of searching in the church! ETA: ...by the CIAs, Southies & USAs

I sure hope the Fogals go home tonight, but it's not looking too good for the Geniuses.

It down to Air Force vs Fogals! Who would have thought Air Force would be in this position!

Let's say a prayer:

Dear Lord,

Please let the Air Force figure out the clue before the Fogals!

Thank you,

Treasure Hunters fans

Pastor Brad had blabbed that they made it to the catacombs in Paris. So I figured this was their last episode. And I am so happy it was.

Plus, the Air Force hinted (on the ferry) about not necessarily trusting the Fogals because they are really out for themselves in the end.

Yes, but the Fogals wouldn't have hesitated to ask him for help to win the hunt!

Yeah well you'd think that the mom would get the clue that God doesn't give a shiv about them or He would have 'told' them or given them a sign where to find the hidden artifact.

I thought it was fitting they ended their race in 'their home' in the church that is full of flames.

The Fogal's needed to leave the day Mr. Fogal stole that clue right out of that woman's hand in the water! What a skunk! All the way thru they were so horrible to everyone and then would pray, ,,,, well God put a foot in their rumps when they were kicked off while the last clue was in a church! Good riddance.. a minister? his church should be ashamed of the way they acted on the show!

A-hem...

I, as a skunk, take offense to that lumping in together with the Fogals! They're much, much worse than skunks.

"Fogalls- honorable?"
Posted by newsomewayne on 07-25-06 at 07:46 AM
But they did do the honarable thing in the castle, by clueing in Air Force about the 'arrow'.

Or do you suppose they knew they couldn't just sneak past AF w/o them knowing The Fogels had the clue figured out.

That we saw them telling Air Force about the arrow completed the redemption of their edit. They weren't sure that it was the arrow but it meant leaving the castle to find out. What we didn't hear but would be in character, is that they would have feared, if they were wrong, that Air Force could have found the real arrow and left, not able to locate the Fogals. It had a self-serving side that kept both teams together in case it was the wrong place to look. Even if they did express that thought, it would have been left out since there was no more point in making them look bad.

The Fogals were the ones that convinced the others to leave the train and follow those girls to the catacombs. Look how that turned out? If they had been alone they would have really been in trouble. But they had 2 other teams with them. They knew there was safety in numbers in case they were wrong. There was no way the Fogals were leaving the castle without Air Force. They were afraid to go on their own. As always they wanted to have someone with them for help. I don't believe their good deed was as genuine as they made it sound.

I think that word travelled very fast about how the Fogals had Fogaled others and the only ones that hadn't given up on them completely yet was Air Force. Slim chance that it might not be an elimination round, they would have figured better not to screw them and have basically no allies in the game.

I loved the Geniuses statement though " I can't stand that Fogal-Force"

I finally had a chance to watch this episode on tape.

Ummm, out of eighteen contestants still in this thing, none of them were bright enough to figure out that a Frenchman involved in the American Revolution who would be famous enough to have a statue in Paris was the Marquis de Lafayette?! C'mon, that's not an obscure fact. It's elementary school history. The "geniuses" have eight dozen majors between them and they couldn't even figure that out?

Why did any of them waste so much time at the castle? When you arrive at a new place, what is the sensible thing to do. Perhaps look at a map so you have the lay of the land?! Why none of them stopped to look at the signage posted for tourists just baffles me.

Exposing the parchment to heat seemed obvious to me, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for not having any experience with invisible inks.

They obviously have to stay in groups of two and three teams because none of them are smart enough to figure anything out on their own.

i was thinking the same thing. that place was huge, and the clue was fairly specific, so you would think that they would want to stop and get together a game plan before they started searching in bread ovens and such. (i'm not slamming the geniuses, i'm just using that as an example)

i know absolutely nothing about invisible ink, but i did wonder why that short clue was on that huge piece of paper. i also wondered why they didn't look up the information on ask.com. is there a rule against looking certain clues up--or asking someone like they often do on TAR?

It was also obvious none of them had watched National Treasure. In some shots you can see some sort of symbol in the corner of one side. In the movie they state that it usually means an invisible message and heat is what will bring it out.

I think part of the problem is it seemed to take a LOT of heat to get the image to appear. Several did hold it up to the candles for a short period but nothing happened.

In all fairness, the geniuses are all majoring in science-related fields and the Marquis de Lafayette isn't vital to their success in school.

But it was ridiculous that it took them all so long in the castle.

What really bothers me is that half the teams just stop looking after awhile and sit in a circle moping about how they can't figure it out. C'mon guys, put in a little more effort! Maybe you won't spend four hours in a church trying to figure out invisible ink.

Perhaps not, but for ALL of them ("Geniuses" and non-geniuses), I am still shocked that not a single one of them could figure out his identity from the clues. From a pop culture/pop history aspect, he is one of the most notable Frenchmen of the eighteenth century --- somebody prominently mention in American history courses for his role in the War for Independence and in European history courses for being spared the guillotine during the French Revolution because of the assistance he rendered the Americans. All of the Treasure Hunters have surely been exposed to the Marquis de Lafayette on multiple occasions. Like I said, he is not an obscure figure.

And even if the "geniuses" are science majors, they still need to fill out the basic requirements in the humanities and social sciences to earn their degrees. They have probably been exposed to this information more recently than any of the others.

the average Eagle Scout (which at least one of the Geniuses are) should know more about American History than the average student, given that several Eagle required merit badges have long lists of such things they must study to complete those badges.

I must admit that I didn't remember the Marquis de Lafayette at first, but once his name was mentioned, I knew exactly who he was.

My humanities credits were earned by taking a World Religions class taught by a drugged-up child of the seventies. I'm lucky I know anything about this.

I have a horrible memory, which is why I can't become a humanities major.
The math major, of which I am a part, is for lazy smart people. If we were practical, we'd major in something useful like engineering.
