Ok, where's the thread about last night's show. Surely, I can't be the first one posting about how much I hate that they've written Jack as an addict for this season! Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Other than that it was pretty good.

I was a little sad about Jack being an addict too, but if he's undercover with drug dealers then he would have to go with the flow. I guess. He sure was "on the edge" last night.

I was a little surprised at all the little wrap ups they did last night. Like Kate's phone call...thought it was funny though the camera pan from Michelle's wedding ring to Tony's.

Is Palmer's campaign manager his brother? I thought he made a comment about him being the timid brother.

Oh and I still don't like Kim.

Normally I'd have posted last night...but, didn't see the show so keep the info flowing. I checked FOX listings for a re-showing this week but no luck in Chicago. Yesterday just got so complicated and never had a chance to get near a VCR until after the show was over. Oh well.....

I thought the addiction was a nice touch. I hope they somehow bring Kate back. Maybe another phone call toward the end of the day.

I was thinking the same thing Dweez why have her in the first episode if she's not going to be around in Jack's life.

Well, it is only one day so maybe she'll be back next season. That one day thing gets me because there's no way he's going to kick the addiction by the end of the season. If so he needs to patent that detox system

Listen, it took Jesus three days to be resurected and it took Jack only a few minutes last season to come back from the dead - why can't Jack kick an addiction within hours? He's obviously omnipotent!

Plus, it seems like he's been trying to quit at least for a while.

Dweez, you can't be sweating, shaking and on the verge of shooting yourself up and be "cured" within the next 23 hours. But Sittem is right, Jack is pretty close to being omnipotent, so I guess stanger things could be done. I'm just saying I hope it's not a focus in every episode this season.

he's been weaning off it, right? so he's jack. not omnipotenet, but Focused (that's why they won't kill kim yet, that's why 'she' will come back. (i think that's also why they showed the russian roulette thing - jack will do whatever it takes to accomplish his mission, even risk death (why he shot up... yada yada ) (dory previn yada yada, not seinfeld yada yada)
so, he's off with salazar - JUST as they catch up with Kyle. ooh it's interesting!

I thought it was a great start to the season.

Kim still bothers me, I'm glad Tony and Michelle got married. It will be interesting to see what the deal is with Palmer's doctor...I feel scandal brewing LOL

(I miss Sherry Palmer already)

BWD - YOU ROCK!! I wouldn't have known about tongiht without you. It wasn't in my listings or in the online listing - but it happened. Long night though, taping both it and 24 and just finished watching both. There were commercials though so either I was distracted and missed Kate or she got cut tonight.

Surprisingly I am not hating Kim yet - she seems strangely competant. I'm sure she'll go bad and get in trouble, but if she just stays in front of her computer and at CTU she might not be to bad.

Jacks addiction is rather annoying. Everything else looks like interesting story lines. I see potential for the Mexico girlfriend and Palmer's doc - I'm wondering if she's dirty.

I'm tired now. Good night.

Kate was on very briefly- she had a short phone conversation with Jack while he was in the car. She said she had found his jacket and he said he would send someone to get it. They have broken up.

Thanks Bawdy! I watched the Thursday showing too and missed the whole Kate scene. It didn't say why they split up or anything? Maybe it was the whole undercover for a year/heroin addict thing. I could see where that would strain a relationship.

What did you all think of the Ford F-150 film-mercial that aired at the start and end of 24 on Tuesday? I thought it was kind of clever the way it mimics the show.

This season looks like another good one.

At least they put Kim in CTU so that her storyline can fit in somewhat to the rest of the show (I thought they really forced a fit with her last season).

I think Jack's addiction may humanize him a little more, but I hope they don't make a big issue of it and focus on it constantly.

It's not that hard. Just make sure you include the following:

- A mole inside CTU. This person will act strangely, and this strange behavior will be noticed by at least one other person who will stop, shrug, and then move along without notifying anyone else.

- Hand Tony and/or Michelle a phone. Have them spend the entire episode on the phone talking with various people, taking only quick breaks to yell at people in the CTU office.

- President Palmer will make a decision. Those close to him will question the decision he's made and try to steer him to another decision. It won't work, and then he'll be second-guessed for the rest of the episode.

- Jack yells at people while he and only he saves the day, without having to even change into a Superman costume. He will, however, have to call the President immediately, no matter where the President is, and get to talk to him right away. Only President Palmer will know what Jack is about to do, and he'll tell him he can't protect him but wants him to go ahead anyway.

- Kim will be in trouble. Either she will be in physical danger, or she will be required to think. Either one is a problem.

- A new character will have an emotional discussion with another new character, neither of which will interest the audience in the least.

- Edited to add: Almost forgot to include the emotional struggle that Jack faces. It is always something that could adversely affect his relationship with Kim, and leaves him viewed suspiciously by the others in his life.

We really do have guidelines here. Believe it or not, the Guidelines make things more fun. Really.

- there will be a credible threat that millions of people will die if Jack/CTU don't act to stop the threat.
