I personally don't mind the time continuity...you all say you want a more accurate timeline, but do you really? Do you know how much slower the show would feel? Its hard enough writing in the 2-3 main events that happen during the course of the season, but even harder when you factor in that every 42 minutes of screen time needs to come with some sort of show stopping cliff hanger to get us excited for the next week. This week, Tony fit the bill perfectly. If we were using an actual timeline, we wouldn't see that stuff till halfway through next week's ep. Not nearly as dramatic as seeing it at the end of this week's ep...now we have all week to wonder what Tony has been up to and all that stuff.

As for killing off Jack, did you know that Sutherland wanted to kill off Bauer in ep#2, but was overruled by the higher powers at FOX. That just shows you how commited Sutherland is to making this a great show, in that he was willing to sacrifice his own character in favor of making the show better. A cynic might argue that Sutherland just wanted to be relieved of the burden of having be the lead in a 24 ep TV show year to year.

It took me awhile, but I finally figured out how to see the hidden text. Think CTU needs any new agents?

Part of my enjoyment of the show is its twenty four hour premise and the fact that twenty four mini-crises are resolved over the season. Near mortal wounds don't phase these peeps. CTU must have a super secret first aid kit for all its players.

In addition, I love how people can travel huge distances in micro time. I guess CTU has some super sonic pods for that purpose. The SUVs are merely a shell.

The time discrepancies don't phase me. I just want to know what happens next.

That said, I had to miss this last night and I don't have TiVo (moment of silence, please). Does Fox repeat episodes?

yeah, the 2 1/2 hours bugged me too, but the 5 minutes not so much because i was trying to figure out who the trusted person was that i didn't notice how little time passed before Tony got there

also digging Edgar, and agree with your last comment. I found season 2 suffered from the same thing, just dumping unbelievable crises on top of one another. and i don't even find the override situation all that compelling or believable, even though I do like edgar.

I've gone through the first 2 seasons now. Didn't like the second half of season 2 quite so much. The coup attempt was kinda interesting, but it all seemed pale compared to George taking the plane down (I thought Jack being the pilot initially was also not so great...but the scene with him and George I suppose was worth it...not so much for the fact that it was filler and made Kim and her irrelevant subplot think he was dead). Waiting to see how Tony becomes a traitor now (ie what season 3 holds in store)! Liked Tony getting Tonyed by Carrie. I remember having seen exactly 2 scenes from season 2 (Kim turning the TV on in the bunker and finding Lonnie was lying, and the very last scene with Palmer) but nothing else from either of those episodes.

I don't know why the time stuff bothered me so much Monday - I'm just on a tight schedule now trying to get of town tomorrow and maybe it's just that time is so preciuos (and passes so quickly - like the five minutes I'll "waste" here!). All the time compressions just came crashing down last night in that 5 minutes.

I still love the show and can't wait each week. Hope I can find a way to watch it the next two weeks, but I hope my son will tape as a back up for me while I'm gone.

I think one of these days I'm going to purchase season 3 - I missed about 6 or 7 hours while we were out of country. In some ways it didn't matter a lot - so it's kind of like a soap opera in that way. You can miss some weeks and still pick up the main story line later. I think those are the only episodes I've ever missed so I think it might be worth the money.

I'm really liking season 3 so far. Have only seen the first 8 (rented), as well as the finale (which I saw when it originally aired, and which is one of my single favorite episodes). Disks 3-6 are all rented out at the Blockbuster I've been going to though, so I may have to see if I can find them elsewhere.

Okay something I have never been able to figure out after 3 seasons of this show.

Why the hell are all the people at CTU forced to work in the fricken dark?
The place has no lights! Has anyone ever seen an office building where everyone worked in the dark?

Um, I think it's supposed to make them look cool

haha bawdy! reminds me of that Calvin and Hobbes strip where Calvin is trying all sorts of things to be cool, including dark sunglasses, and Hobbes says "So it's cool to wander around and bump into things?" or something like

but my theory is that it's mood lighting. explains all the intra-agency shacking up going on, no?

Makes the computer screen easier to read, maybe? I know when you watch TV with the lights off the picture is clearer.
