The preceding title may have been a joke. Or not. We'll see how things go.

Hey guys, I'll join you for the second half of the show (I'm just leaving the lab...stupid thesis takes up too much of my time).

Kristy and Lloyd -- definite improvement over last week, but with this scoring, that's probably the difference between a 7.8 and an 8.2. Whee.

Tonight's theme is 'the 70s.' I've asked this before, but was the entire world on hard drugs for ten years?

As with the premiere, the pacing isn't bad so far -- not too much filler.

Tonight's added element: synchronized steps.

I've asked this before, but was the entire world on hard drugs for ten years? Ummm... pretty much, from what I remember anyway.

They really did do a nice routine in spite of the costumes and music.

Next up? David C. and the requisite white disco belt...

They were a lot weaker than last time. Let's face it: the routine was partially built around both of them being immobile for portions of the song. When your showcase is sitting and doing nothing, the scores are going to suffer for it.

Team Olympia also seemed to be down on energy, and the spark that was present in the first dance didn't show up in this one. I blame the purple pants.

Can't disagree with you there.

Sweet. So I get home, and my cable is all funky...it keeps going in and out. DF is sending me a digital copy later tonight so I can write a summary...my new cable company sucks.

Oh, it's back. Somehow I don't think Jillian's groin injury will actually cost them the competition.

Jillian has a groin injury. Where's Dick Buttons to keep asking her about it? Over, and over, and over...

She's looking a lot better tonight. The layback spin was weak, but she's still miles ahead of the other skaters. The footwork was alright...her free leg has improved. You could see where the lack of check and lose free leg throw her off balance at the end of the sequence.

I'm still not impressed by the lifts...she isn't doing anything.

I can't hear 'groin injury' without thinking of the Cheers episode where Sam was a substitute sportscaster for a week. 'Groin injury, geh-geh-geh groin injury.'

Team Eye Candy didn't have the same passion as the premiere. They were trying what looked like some fairly advanced technical stunts, but the emotional energy was down -- and Jillian keeping an eye on her movements didn't help.

Deborah and Kurt - She still needs to bend her knees. I particularly appreciate when Kurt grabs her waist and pushes her in the direction he wants her to go.

I'm not entirely sure I saw a footwork sequence, but I'm guessing it was that thing in the middle that had a couple of 2-foot three turns. Without reviewing my tape, it went something like "glide on two feet, turn around on two feet, glide on two feet, turn around on two feet, glide on two feet, glide on one foot." Not exactly footwork...

I missed all of Deborah and Kurt's performance, so I can't really say anything about it.

Well, actually, I saw the whole thing, but my eyes never left the toupee.

Dorothy Hamill gave them an 8.2 for technical merit????? They didn't do anything. I want to have Dorothy Hamill as a judge.

"LOL!"

Todd and Jenni - I have far more respect for a guy that learned lifts (even if they aren standing still when they do them) than a girl that learned lifts. There's a lot more danger with a guy that doesn't know what he's doing than a girl, and the lifts the girls have been doing don't require much along the lines of strength or even practice.

oooh...I was just typing that Todd was standing up a lot straighter this week, then he fell. Ooops.

I totally missed their footwork...is that what he fell on? It's hard to recognize footwork sequences when stroking (plain skating) counts as footwork...

Ooof. Poor Todd.

Wait. Todd and Jenni get 7.9s for technical merit, but Kurt and Deborah got an 8.2????? Todd and Jenni did lifts. Yes, he fell, but what he did was harder than anything Kurt and Deborah did...

Todd and Jenni are going home.

I hate that they call elements "tricks."

I would have preferred to see Nancy and Dave go home, but that's because I hate Nancy Cow-again, always have.

Lloyd and Kristy looked ridiculous but skated well. They're still my sentimental favorites.

Nancy and Dave need to go home. Dave, there's a reason for the toe picks. You might want to give them another shot.

Tai and Bruce. Not even the potent power of Buggy's purple pants could make you look good. It's time to hang up the blades.

Jillian and John still amaze me. There are moments when I forget that she's not a real skater.

Kurt and Deborah. As much as I want to cheer for the Canadian content, they're just not doing it for me. Maybe it was the hair that threw me off.

Jenni and Todd were entertaining. In a train wreck sort of way. When they talked about doing a lift during practice bot mr lights and I gasped, "Is she effing crazy!" She was brave (and a little crazy) to attempt it even though they were standing still.

Thanks for doing the summaries Waterdrop! I really enjoyed the first one and look forward to the rest!

I must have borrowed someone's drugs from the 70's, I totally forgot it was on last night. Sighs.

I am in Southern Calif. So I will probably be able to see some highlights on Good Day L.A.
