"Why Did You Choose Your Roleplay Houseguest?"
Posted by kircon on 07-17-06 at 04:51 PM
We have had such fun this last week. And we can't forget the past weeks. We really came together as a great team. I can hear Antonia's voice, De-Bor-ah talking about "Mah ole day-ud husband", and Sharnina, thank you for all the wonderful pictures & sigs. You are all fantastic writers. Let's do it again. So tell me why you picked your houseguest?

the roles that i picked myself (kelly's bathroom, christina, and sommer), just seemed like they'd be fun- the bathroom b/c of it's part in a little (so house style!) controversy, christina and sommer b/c they seem a little similar- girls that are bit mixed-up, make bad choices, but are just sweet girls, deep down. sharnina asked me to take on jodi, and i just had fun with it. no deep reasons, just tried to pick those that i thought would be the most fun

Kelly chose me. I started in week 10. I had just finished playing several Survivor games. I had some extra time & thought I would try my hand at Be The HG. Kelly was the only one left, so between Kelly's Bathroom and her fight with Kim. I started cleaning the bathroom. With the best tool for tight spaces. A tooth brush. Kelly fell in love with her Bathroom. I actually checked out the cleaning aisle for products to use. Kelly was fun to play. Scrub, scrub, scrub.
I started playing Niambi when Kelly graduated. Niambi was young and the "other woman". I found I could use her running. I also had fun with Mr. Situation. Great picture. I also had fun pursuing Lanre. They do make a great looking couple. Niambi reminded me of a hurt little puppy. I was able to give Niambi's quote for her sig.
I love Maureen, the drive by comic. She allowed me to be a comic. All I really remember about her was that she wanted to be a comic & had a fire in her condo. She should try out for Last Comic Standing. Maureen let me use a lot of one-liners I have gotten from chain emails. You know the kind of jokes, the ones that make you grown. I love that she married her teen idol. I giggled when David said yes.

LAST EDITED ON 07-20-06 AT 00:23 AM (EST)I didn't really choose my characters. I was enjoying the game and had commented as a guest a few times early on and then thought it would be fun to have a recurring role. When Antonia came on the show, I just jumped in. I initially couldn't stand her bratty, foul mouthed personality but I felt she had spunk and wouldn't be boring. It was fun to play her alter ego...and no, I don't have an accent, lol. Lisa1 was also very annoying to me in real life but she was up for grabs so I took her too. And I liked spoofing on her though she was almost too easy. It's funny, you start to almost feel like you know these semi-real characters. I'm sure Antonia will miss all her game playin' friends heyah. Are you freakin' kiddin' me? It was big a$$ fun!

Thanks to my knight in shinin' ahmah! *toothy grin*
ETA sigs...Hey anybody got one for alaholly? Send her a pm...

Frankly, I didn't know thing one about Jon Murray, except that he's one of the early pioneers of reality TV because of The Real World and Road Rules. In fact, any resemblance between the real Jon Murray and mine is probably intentional coincidental. And we needed someone to kick off the game each week. I thought the interplay between Jon and Rhonda was a riot (winks @ Sahara).

I brought in the ghost of Mary-Ellis Bunim a few times to demonstrate how the show had strayed from its original premise, a fact not lost on the folks on this forum. I meant no disrespect whatsoever.
What made this game unique was the addition of so many characters from beyond the show. At first, I thought such a thing would be dangerous, especially if "houseguests" weren't posting. But eventually I got into it, even bringing NASCAR racer Jimmie Johnson in for one visit after peeps complained that his rain-postponed win in Atlanta pre-empted SO one Monday.
Great jaerb (as Coach Z would say), one and all!
And remember: opportunities exist to play "Be The . . ." for other shows, and it's usually a case of the more peeps, the merrier!

I did not choose Rhonda, I feel like Rhonda chose me! I had just started playing "Be the Skating Celebrity" and was having a blast, and then when Cyg decided to start a "Be the Houseguest" game, of course I could not resist! When I saw the sign-up thread, several of the houseguests and Iyanla were already taken, and nobody had chosen poor Rhonda. So I was up for a challenge...and oh, my gosh, I have had so much fun! This game is my stress relief. I am going to miss it so much.
I get into my characters...I actually had my feelings hurt when Jon-Boy rejected Rhonda! lol Yes, Cyg, that interplay was the BEST. She is so easy to play...lots of good material from Rhon-DAW.
Dr. VantToLookJung came up just as a one-timer one day. I had had a bad week the week before and had been unable to post, so I felt the need to explain Rhonda's absence, and so voila, there was Rhonda's Botox man! And then when Cyg found that hilarious picture, I knew Dr. V. had to come out and play some more. He and Bridey were a hoot, also! I have a soft spot in my heart for Dr. V.

Hey, I thought she would bring a bit of pizazz into the game. Such an obnoxious houseguest is just full of material.
I have had SO much fun. I think I wish the show would come back just so I can play the game! I will miss it greatly, and thanks for all the fun, friends!

AF 2006
I am a Be the...addict. Is there a twelve-step program? I was playing five of those games at one time.

Andy is just so -- so -- out there, and so unlike my real personality, and I think that's why I wanted to play her. She's so downright prissy I thought I could put her into some difficult situations just to see how she'd get out of them!

Naturally Andy's mother had to be a total, polar opposite of Andy, somebody Andy would see as wild, and feel the need to "rein in," somebody who would embarrass the daylights out of Andy and break down her prissy façade. And the idea of the bride of Frankenstein's monster literally popped into my head! I just loved the fact that Vanty fell for her, and they became a couple! I found myself actually kind of thinking they were real people!

What can I say?! I honestly haven't kept up with this guy except to hear, every once in a while, some piece of bad, crazy press about him. I felt like he'd be a real caricature of a reality-show "star," and someone we could all have fun with.

I got a kick out of Dr. Stan buddying up to Cat Stevens. I mean, can you imagine?! What a pair! So I tried to make Yusuf/Cat the total opposite of how he comes across in his real life -- I tried to make him more of a tough-talking, Vegas-y type who might have tried to pal around with somebody like good old Dr. Stan.
The rest of the folks? Just sheer craziness on my part, and playing off other peoples' characters. So many talented, funny people played this game, and I want to thank all of you for allowing my "drive-by" appearances with all the crazy characters!
This is the first time I've ever played a game like this. It was a real blast, and I have enjoyed not only the game, but this whole board, as well. The threads are so well-moderated, and it's obvious you mods take your jobs seriously. This, of course, results in a better time for all of us, and I do appreciate it!
