Does anyone know if submitting a videotape is the only way to be considered for the show? Other than the live casting calls of course. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can happen both ways per the official web site.

If you're thinking of maybe season four might want to check and see if there is going to be one...all gossip points to no for a 4th season.

The last time I checked the official website, while the Pheonix casting call was cancelled, SO is still soliciting tapes from those interested in being on the show. I personally think this is a better way to choose HG's. I think it would give the casting crew more time to investigate each aspiring HG and be sure they aren't just after TV star status.

Nods and gives all a chance to be picked....most can't travel (expense wise etc) to attend a casting call.

There most likely won't be a season 4 so submitting a tape would be futile at this point. Also, if you do submit a tape don't expect to get any type of response saying they received the tape, not interested, have a nice life, or anything else for that matter unless they're interested.

I submitted a tape a few months ago and although I know it was received (thanks to delivery confirmation) I never heard a peep. It kind of sucks really because you spill your guts about very personal issues (and cramming it into 5-10 minutes) and are reaching out for help only to get no response.

I didn't have a video camera myself and had no one to borrow one from so I actually rented one because I believed they were the only ones who could help me. My advice here is don't waste your money like I did.
