Oh, poor Karinne. What's her problem? Is she filled with angst over the "Born for Porn" label that will adversely impact her quest to be seen as a "legitimate" performer/author/mother, or is she upset that she's going to have to fight for her cut of the profits of the skin flick she starred in? (to be donated to charity, of course)
Wow, she sounds very indignant for a woman who's celebrity is based on her "Superhead" noteriety. So let's straighten this out: Karinne is a young woman who wanted to be a star. That's hard work and the competition is fierce, but Karinne decided that she was going to get there - no matter what. If her talent wasn't enough, she just made sure that potential employers knew that she was open to taking "short cuts". So, certain industry people took her up on her offers, and in the process, her name and reputation got around. So, to a certain extent, her plan worked. Did she ever give a second thought to the other young women, perhaps more talented, but less willing to negotiate in flesh, who were passed over for a job in a music video that was "owed" to "Superhead"? Did she ever think about how she was contributing to a system that degrades women? I don't think she was concerned with "empowering women" at that point in her career, but hey, she is NOW! By the way, the ugly parts aren't really her fault - it was the crack she was smoking.
Fortunately for Karinne, she wasn't too stoned to keep a pretty accurate record of her exploits, and those exploits not only got her parts in music videos, but, as we now discover, they got her starring roles in porno films too.
Now it's time for part two: In order to get her name out to an even wider audience, Karinne shopped a tawdry, tell-all book to publishers, and she found one who was willing to print and market the story of all of those "arrangements" she had with the very people who were responsible for giving her any noteriety in the first place.
Now she stands on that platform, and after hanging up her g-string, she begins to dress and speak like a respectable young celebrity. Are we supposed to embrace her message of "empowerment" that is directed towards the young women in talk show audiences and even Starting Over? Sorry, I'd rather hear from the women she stepped on (and over) to get where she is.
She'd at least get some pity if she packed it up and headed for anonymity and a nine to five. But right now? Not an ounce of respect...or sympathy.
Only in America, Karinne.

Ms Video Vixen, Superhead, Karrine Steffans dated Bill Maher....hmmm interesting. This girl really got around.
I don't judge Karrine for her past. People learn the most from the hard times in life. Plus, if you want to learn how to be a woman of honor the best lesson will probably come from a woman who has been dishonorable. Sometimes you have to have been there to truly understand what it takes to get out of it.
If I were an alcoholic trying to clean up my act I don't think I would want to hear the advice of someone who has never took a drink.
I guess what I am saying is it takes one to teach one and to know one.
