"Be The Houseguest: Signup Thread"

Okay, this is the next phase of this game: the signup and the rules.

To have a permanent character, you'll need to sign up in this thread. Now some of you have already expressed interest in being certain HGs, so I'll try to accommodate them below.

How the game works:

1. Casting: Sign up for a HG/LC to speak for/represent. One spot per HG/LC. You may not be someone already taken or reserved. I will go by first come basis. I try to be fair and work it out if there is a problem.

2. Please post at least once a week, at least until you've graduated (if applicable), after that - optional, you may still add comments. If you're gonna be out or you'd like to quit, just send me a PM. If you miss 2 weeks without notice, I will have to reassign the character. You can opt to switch characters once yours is gone, if that character is still open.

3. Sign the bottom of EVERY post you write with your HG/LC's name or picture, or at least sign as who/whatever you're posting as. I will provide you with a pic, or if you are really a DAW, you could make your own or add it as an extension to your existing sigpic. But PLEASE use these pics only in the game threads. Just right-click on the pic, jot down its URL (I store mine in a Word document), and when you post, make that the last line.

4. Speak as your HG/LC would speak, and speak for them. Share your character's inner thoughts about what's going on in the house, and what they think of the other HGs/LCs. Praise, tease or bash away. Be Funny. LCs, you can always call your own BOR! But. Keep all gameplay in the designated thread. We'll start Monday and change threads each Monday.

5. Have fun, this is not for SERIOUS bashing. Also, be careful not to post any big spoilers (like who is going). Don't bash other players personally out of character.

6. If your HG graduates (or is booted), you are technically out of the house. You then get the privilege of writing your own "final remarks", so PLEASE DO. You are encouraged to continue to post/comment, but remember that you've graduated.

7. Anyone not signed up as a HG/LC is still invited to make comments about the cast. Be clever. Someone, for example, could post as The Cupcakes. You can also be other house visitors, former HGs, Andy P., props, camerapeople, or whatever.

8. These will be role-playing threads, NOT DISCUSSION THREADS. That's mainly addressed toward non-game players.

Cyg, I am so lame - how do I transfer my TJ Sig to show up at the bottom of my posts? I appreciate any help on this because I don't have a clue how to do anything besides type on here

1) Right click the picture Cyg made for you.

2) Choose "properties" from the bottom of the dropdown list.

3) In the new window that opens up find the address (URL) and highlight it.

4) Do a ctrl-c to copy it to the clipboard.

5) Open a Word document (or whatever you use for word processing).

6) Do a ctrl-v to paste it into the document.

7) Save the document.

8) When you create a post in the thread just open the Word document and copy (same as above) the address you saved in it. Paste it into the message (same as above) as the last line of your message.

Mystic, thanks for the help but when I tried it won't work - windows xp - I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong I guess if I can't get it figured out someone else will have to be TJ cuz I know we need to use the sigs.

Now that I understand the rules and know I have to approach it through HER eyes I'm wondering if I can stop bashing her character long enough to portrait her but I'll give it a try.
P.S. Inanimate objects..someone could be the alchohol in the house I'm sure it will show up there at least weekly?

In Amazing Race 7, I grew to hate my character as the season went on, but I still had fun in a "bad guy" role.

And yes, the alcohol (even more specific?) can also be fun to do.

Just check the rules above. You can post without signing up if there's some other one-time character you thought of.

Example: during one Amazing Race episode this fall, one of the families won a lifetime supply of gasoline (a heck of a prize!). In our Be the Amazing Racer thread, someone came in and posted as the CEO of BP, which supplied the prize in exchange for a LOT of product placement and sponsorship.

But he only did so that one week.

You're already the Universe. You can let that go if you want, and someone else can take that.

And only one recurring character to a customer. You can post as the ashtray, but I won't necessarily make a sig for it.

I'm already signed up as Andy Paige, but is it OK if I sign up as her mom too? I have a dandy sig set up for her. I work from home and find the game a great distraction, and have the time to post usually more than once a week.

I figure Andy's mom won't be real recurring, but just pop in every once in a while – especially since Mr. Internet has shown a little interest (see his note below his sig).
