I had such mixed emotions with Kim's mom. I never really felt an honest connection between them and I watched every episode. I think that's why Kim's still "disconnected" from her feelings, hence the supposed passive-aggressive slam at Kelly's graduation. Kim did just come back for seeing her only mother role model, grandma who had a stroke. I think she's now been pushed further into her post-traumatic father's abuse.
