In your opinion, given Janelle's height and frame, what is her ideal body weight -- and what do you believe she currently weighs?

I look forward to your answers with interest.

That's insane. She does NOT weight 315lbs. *rolls eyes*

My guess: 250lbs (currently)
Should weigh: 89lbs (with or without breast implants, but after hair extensions and collagen)

Of course, upon confirmation that she was previously a man, these numbers will change

Wait -- so when she became a woman, she lost 65 pounds? Does anyone have a time machine so I can meet pre-op Janelle?

Do you think that Janelle compares such weight loss notes with "Miss" Coulter?

Erika and Boogie are making out in the kitchen. No sign of Janelle.

Boogie starts singing "You light up my life".

Now we have flames.

Noone noticed your post is in the wrong forum.

And they're not flames.....it's Janielle getting over heated from being so fat.

Just to be technical, and for people to compare their answers to.

Let's say she is 5'6" tall (I think she might be taller, but it's hard to tell, I'm sure she is taller than me)

Her healthy weight range based on BMI is 118-148.

Most people seem to think 118 is way over fat for that height because you are probably a size 4-6 at that weight (using current sizing, not what it was when I was a kid, woman buy more clothes if the number is lower so sizes got a lot bigger than they used to be, when I was a kid). I'm guessing she is somewhere in the 125-130 pound range so more like a 6-8 size wise. Basing that a bit on Kelly Clarkson who was told she was seriously waaaayyyyy too fat at a size 8 when she won Idol, I hear she laughed at them and said I'm healthy, live with it.

Standard issue actresses come in a sample size which is about a 2, models come in 0 and 00 most of the time. You can be that size and above 18.5 on the BMI if you are like 4'11" tall. Hovering at or below 100 pounds is dangerously underweight for most woman.

Now at a size 8 that would make her a plus-size model, but plus-size models are usually at normal weights, not at a BMI that makes them even moderately overweight.

It's a tribe creation!

I think weight is so controvertial and jsut wrong. Who knows how much muscle she has. She could be 5'6"ft 100 lbs or 5'6"ft 110 lbs...and look exactly the same....but more fit at the muscular weight.

"RE: Open question for Janelle 'she's fat' bashers."
Posted by Snidget on 09-07-06 at 12:15 PM
BMI ranges take into account a range of muscle mass which is why the range is kind of wide. If you are muscular you can ride the higher end and be at a good weight, if you have no muscles you want to hang near the lower end so you don't have % body fat issues.

I have a muscular body build even without working out all that much. I always weight at least 10-15 pounds more than I look and wear clothes at least a size or two smaller than I should for my height and weight as muscle is pretty dense. My Mom was like that as well, and I have Eastern European who needs an ox to pull that plow legs from Dad's side of the family.

Janelle is 5'9" according to the IMDB site.

Where the heck do you get that stat? Most models actually
range between sizes 6 & 8. Some runway models are smaller, but
that's the average. The fashion sizing standard, i.e. mannequins, is size 8. Plus size models usually start at size
12.

No idea what Janelle weighs, but I would personally guess her
as a size 10.

So the info that all the actresses have to get down to size 2 to be sample size is incorrect.

At the weight most runway models are at their height a size 8 would fall off them.

Catalog models often do standard sizes, but you can't tell me Kate Moss is a size 8.

Now sizes have dropped a lot in the last decade or two. A skinny friend of mine who is naturally that way went from a size 6 to a size 0 in a lot of designers due to size inflation, even most ready to wear, not even the high fashion stuff. Some places worse than others. Woman buy more clothes the smaller the number is so sizes inflated as woman inflated, and I'm basing this on today's sizes, not from the 50's or 70's

I mean at 5'4 and 175 pounds I wear one of my friend who weighs maybe 110 pounds hand me ups which is a size one because when she ordered it she thought it would fit and she swims in it.

I do worry about getting back down to 125 my health weight because I wore a size 8 the last time I weighed that, but I wore a size 8 at 150 pounds because I gained weight at about the same rate the sizes inflated about 10 years ago.

I wear about at 12 at a weight that is clinically OBESE for my height.

Really, models are a size 8 and weight 140 pounds these days, who knew. They just airbrush them down to size 0 for the pictures I guess.

ETA: The size 8 model on Project Runway season 3 was considered plus size by the panel of experts and most of the other models are a size 2 or so. The ones in paris were significantly skinner than the size 2 models in New York so they had fitting issues showing the same clothes on most of them.

So I'm crazy thinking these woman who are 5'9 and 100 pounds are not really tiny????

ETF: clarity

What info?

For NY fashion week, which are among the tiniest models,
the size range is size 2 to size 6. Few designers, Calvin
Klein and Vera Wang as example, sample at size 2. Size 6
is much more prevalent.

>Catalog models often do standard sizes,
>but you can't tell me

Kate Moss is the exception rather than the rule, AND
she's only 5'7", which is SHORT for a runway model.
It is waaay tough to get a 5'10" girl into a size 0.
Granted, the cycle for the past few years has been
moving to the ultra skinny side, with many size 4 or smaller
models out there, but it's still only a very small percentage
of working models.

No need to be rude. We're just having a discussion here.
And you're still wrong. Most print models are NOT a size
0. Also, 140 lbs for a size 8 is kinda pushing it, don't you
think?

>ETA: The size 8 model on
>Project Runway season 3 was

Not so. Heidi said the outfit the girl was wearing
made her 'look' plus sized. She was either a size
8 or 10, according to Alison, so their models are
quite small, but I don't believe they're a size 2,
but I could be wrong. We're still only talking
about a very tiny percentage of models.

No, not at all. I wasn't trying to suggest that.
We are way over the top about 'weight' in this country
and it's crazy! I can tell you though that Janelle is
taller or as tall as the average male, so she's just too
'big' for a lot of guys. She's also just too pretty for
a lot of girls, hence the cattiness.

"RE: Open question for Janelle 'she's fat' bashers."

I've read several articles about actress having to diet down to a size 2 in order to get the clothes from the best designers. It seems like in the past 5-10 years skinny standards have gotten tighter. When they had the put something on a normal woman challenge the conversatsions were all about can they design for a woman who is not a size 2.

I've talked to teenagers that are freaking out because after 16 0r 17 they put on weight (normal final growth spurt weight) and can't get into their size 0 or 2 clothes anymore. They think their lives are over and they are so obese no one will want them, so I don't think that size 2 or size 0 as being considered "normal" by people these days is that far off the mark. It is insane, but that is the standard it seems these days.

The point I was trying to make is most of the ideals for what a woman should way are insane.

I think you feel the same.

I don't know why you seem to think I think that size 2 woman are normal, even with the reduction in sizes that is rampant these days.

I think that size 10 being plus size is obscene as most normal woman that are in the 5'7" to 5'9" when they are normal weight should be like a size 10, the taller your are the bigger "normal" is IMO.

Now I have a muscular body type so I appear smaller than my weight indicates, but I wear a size 12 at 170-180 a size 10 at 155-165 and a size 8 at 140 in the sizes that currently I find at any department or discount store. The more expensive the clothes (except for formal wear that is still sized the way it was in 1960) the smaller the size I wear.

When I first hit 115 when I got my final height I was a size 8 and size 6's were too small. As I gained weight the clothes got bigger, it was really weird, do you think I am lying? Now I couldn't wear the 115 lb 8's at 140, but when I got fat the clothes got big, really

Here is the sort of article I've been reading.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2104-2280785.html

PS. It is only through the lens of that sort of riduculousness that I think Janelle is seen as fat. Most of the guesses at her weight here that are 1/2 way sane have her at a very healthy BMI for her height which is a lot taller than I initially thought.

But, based on the article you sent, things are getting sick scary!

According to Janelle's Myspace.com web site, she is 5'9. She is by no means a small framed girl. For a female, she is stocky and solidly built. I am guessing she is a large frame. Based on that information and her height, my guess would be 155lbs (including hair extension, breast implants and cologen).

Her ideal body weight would be whatever it is now, give or take 10 pounds in either direction because I'm no dietician, and subtract all the hot air and nicotine she seems to be full of.

Janelle is only a little bit fat, but she is getting fatter. Nothing wrong with that, if I was trapped in that house all summer, I'd look like Jabba the Hutt by now. But to say that she is not a bit fat (or that she is a size 6 or 8 - please) is to ignore the evidence of your own eyes.

I don't know what the right weight is for her, but it would be something like whatever her weight is now minus 15 pounds.

now.

"RE: Open question for Janelle 'she's fat' bashers."
Posted by Colonel Zoidberg on 09-07-06 at 06:49 PM
It's one thing to gain weight in the house. People's weight fluctuates all the time in the house. Chicken George lost weight thanks to the slop diet, but it's not surprising that Janelle put on some weight, since she was not on the slop diet. When she's not competing or sleeping, what else does she have there to do besides eat, drink, smoke, and whine? Keeping oneself amused in the BB house is often a trick.

She's nowhere near as bad in that department as the all-time weight gain champion of BB history - Jun from BB4. Howie from All-Stars is likely to have given Jun a run for her money, but Howie was a big lug before BB. Jun wasn't.

<<...She's nowhere near as bad in that department as the all-time weight gain champion of BB history - Jun from BB4...>>

That was classic and the producers demonstrated not only a degree of ingenuity that summer as they showed her constantly eating then stuffing herself into the same bikini that fit relatively well at the outset, but also what they thought of her.

I'm offended.

Not that Estee started this thread, because I think it should be discussed, but because we are discussing the weight of a healthy young woman.
Oh my goodness! Is she 8 lbs. bigger than she was 3 months ago?
Oh my, what a sin!

What offends me is how harshly women are judged for their shape.

Oh bash a reality game playing woman for her attitude or her alliances, for acting like a jerk, I may agree or disagree with you, but to bash her for her body, well that's wrong.

There are rarely fat women on TV, and reality TV is no different.

Women being bashed for not being perfect shaped, sends a message to all women.
You aren't curved enough, you aren't thin enough, you aren't tall enough, your breasts are too small, your breasts are too large, your breasts aren't natural, they aren't perfect. You aren't perfect. It's not okay to not be perfect. You are flawed.

This is what our society does to woman.
It's why girls starve themselves. It's why we have a warped sense of what a woman should look like.
Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and Janelle happens to be curvey. Fat? Not by about 50lbs.
Our view of what is healthy is so skewed now.
Erika looks unhealthy to me, but for all I know she is one of those women who can't gain weight. Stress also affects ones eating habits and appetite. But I won't judge her as a woman, by her shape. ( There are so many other reasons to bash her)

I know this thread was done in jest, Estee, and I know some are playing along with the joke, and I get the joke.

But I worry about those posters that insist that this healthy young woman is fat, I worry they may have children who hear these kinds of comments.
I worry about our society and how we judge women.
That is what offends me.

i'm with Buggy.

i get the joke--and i try not to be serious if at all possible, but i really worry about young women who are constantly subjected to the stick-thin ideal and the way that being called fat seems to be the lowest of insults.

i don't have any problem with joking about it, i only hope that the young people reading this or hearing people call Janelle fat get the joke--and the people who really think she is overweight understand the effect that reducing a woman's worth to the size of her waist can have on young women. i would add the way that it impacts our society in general, but then i wouldn't stop typing for quite a while.

Thanks PQueen!
If just one person agreed with anything I said, I don't feel so stupid posting it.

I totally get that this thread was to mock those that call a thin shapely woman "fat".

On the other side of the coin, women are bashed for being too thin as well. It's a no win for women of any size.

What happened to healthy? It's so about looks and size and perfection.

...being called fat seems to be the lowest of insults.
It does. Why is that? And it isn't just 300 lb people that can't walk or breathe. It isn't the unhealthy. It's the slight ripple that is called fat.

I'm still waiting for all the "Fat" Bashers to post a pic of their perfection.

I think it's fair to bash, say, Nicole Richie for being too thin. Good heavens, she looks like a starving person from the Third World.

But I noticed a couple of posters have bashed Erika on this thread for being too thin. Let's get real. Both Erika and Janelle are beautiful women by any objective measure.

You know...I think this is a perfect example of how behavior and personality can effect how we see people esthetically.

I thought Erika was great looking her first round at BB. I know a lot of ppl think it's just her hair......but I thought she looked great all the way around. I thought it was neat that she didn't really age a few years later and looked pretty fit (at least to me).....after knowing she slept with the Boogie man..I couldn't see her as attractive anymore. Then after she backstabbed Danielle....she became even less attractive..THEN...after what she pulled on Janielle......you know.

And to the poster that pointed out that thin women get a bad rap too..You are so right. Tough world!

I agree with you too, Buggy. I think you made a very valid point. No one makes fun of Howie for putting on some weight. So, why is it that the women of the house are always being judged by their figure?

"RE: Open question for Janelle 'she's fat' bashers."
Posted by cambo on 09-08-06 at 00:23 AM
I have to agree Janelle is not fat at all! She simply has a figure. Erika has more of a weight issue than Janelle. Erika is probably too thin and has the figure of a 10 year old boy. Being so thin and having implants so large makes her look like a cartoon character.

"RE: Open question for Janelle 'she's fat' bashers."
Posted by Snidget on 09-08-06 at 06:37 AM
Well that is in part I think the whole issue with society's skewed view of women, unfortunately.

With the extreme underweight that is expected of woman you can't have the DD breasts that are also required.

The "Ideal" shape that seems to be what people expect is a size 2 woman with size 12-14 boobs.

That body shape is very very rare. Most woman when they are really skinny have small breasts. I mean how can you hav3 5% body fat and have all of it be in the breasts (does happen, just not very often).

If you are the size 2 that they expect you to be any woman looks like a 10 year old boy.

I do know woman who have health issues that make it so they can't gain weight, but you usually can tell when they are healthy at the weight they are.

I'd like to see us be more accepting of all body types and shapes as being beautiful.

I gotta get this out. I was a kid during the 50's and 60's. By today's standards, Marilyn and Jayne Mansfield would be considered fat. Those were our "ideal woman" models. Then I remember Twiggy came along. Everyone was shocked at a nude picture of her. She absolutely looked malnourished. But, that was when the model began to change. So, with my decades ago frame of reference, I would call Janelle volumptuous (sp). The other thing is that the more expensive the clothes the smaller the size. In other words, when I was in a size 10 many years ago I bought a very expensive, designer dress. It was a size 6. I wonder when we hear of celebrities who are wearing tiny sizes, what would those sizes be in the Karen Scott label for instance.

"She actually is fat."
Posted by Bob Tomato on 09-08-06 at 03:52 PM
Oh for God's sake. She's not that fat and this is not an indictment on society's preoccupation with skinny women.

My beef is that the LoJ regards Janelle as the paragon of feminine beauty. Sure, she's cute. But she is a little chunky and she got chunkier in her stay in the house. She had a freaking roll around her middle for the last few weeks. It's bigger than mine and I'm a middle aged guy who could stand to lose a few pounds. To say otherwise is just to deny the obvious. Like the grinch's heart, your 'Janie-Doll' has grown three sizes or so.

She's not obese, she's not even overweight particularly. But she makes a living off her figure. The bikini modelling career is necessarily on hold until she gets back into the gym and does some crunchies.

Agree with you 100% Buggy. I understand people bashing Janie because they don't like her or her game play. But this "Janie is fat" diatribe that has been going on just floors me.

It's why girls starve themselves. It's why we have a warped sense of what a woman should look like.

I think of all the girls--pre-teen, teenagers, young women--who may be reading this board who aren't thin, who are more Janelle-like than Nicole Ritchie-like who look in the mirror and see "fat" instead of healthy. It's hard enough to be young and female, but to see a lovely woman like Janelle called "fat" repeatedly has to make people who look like her question what they do see in the mirror.

Yeah, I get the joke too. It's funny to call her fat. Once, or twice. As a joke. Because she's not fat. And because the truth is she's not fat, to call her fat is cruel to not only her, but to all young women like her. Janelle will probably never ever read this thread, but there are so many young women like her who will. If you think about it that way, it's not so funny any more is it?
