Tonight should be beyond interesting with those song choices. Aww, I feel bad for Marty.. How can a guy sing that song w/ a straight face? I can't wait to see Mig, then Dave...Dave has done an amazing job being honest yet neutral with his comments especially with the position he's in. I love that, Dave's doing a wonderful job.

if Marty's is anything to go on it should prove to be interesting.Dave, he's being honest but to be honest myself that boy kinda makes me cringe. He comes across as so smarmy and condescending sometimes =/ His is an interesting position to be in through all this I think. He doesn't really have any stake in the competition itself, it's not his band that's picking, but he's getting plently of face time. I don't know..he just rubs me the wrong way a lot I guess. Not a bad guy, but not my favorite either.

Britney Spears - Hit Me Baby One More Time.I think it is hilarious. Really should he be penalized if he refuses to sing that song. Shouldn't he be able to ask for a new one? Seriously - Do you think INXS themselves would be caught dead singing that song? So why should he?
OMG! You have got to be kidding! Why would INXS do that to him? I feel bad for him. Even with his talent, I don't know if he could pull THIS one off. It should be interesting!

From what we saw on the show each singer was given a letter with their song. The letter told them why they were given that specific song. In Marty's letter it said that he was always so serious. They wanted to see him have fun with a song.
Of course, he should be penalized. It was a song chosen by INXS specifically FOR him due to a perceived weakness or unseen side of the performer. I really don't think INXS cares whether or not the performers believe that INXS would sing or play a particular song. IMHO, I think that the band sees this as a continuation of the whole "teamwork" lesson and to see how they overcome surprise, adversity, and the adjustment to their weaknesses.I think the whole Britney Spears thing might be the funniest thing I'll have ever seen on reality TV.

I'm just afraid that it won't be funny. when he was strumming his guitar, trying to "find his voice," he sounded awfully serious about his style.

It must be frustrating to them if they want to see something out of a certain singer and that person always sings a type of song that the band has already seen. Plus I wonder if the band will become frustrated if there is a specific singer that none of them like and that person is never in the bottom 3. This way the band could give that person a hard song to perform hoping they will fail and lose votes from the fans. I really do wonder at what time the audience will quit voting and the band gets to boot someone they do not think is right for INXS. I am sure by now INXS knows who they want in the top 3. And they may be forced to have someone that they don't want last till the end if that person always gets alot of votes. Of course INXS won't have to pick them for their band. But it does make you wonder what they are thinking. They must be just waiting to boot certain people.

T think there is a chance, albeit slim, that Marty will get the boot.I don't expect it, but the reason they gave Marty that song is because they wanted to see what he would do with a pop song. And apparently, what Marty is doing is trying to de-pop it and sing it like a Nirvana song or something.
Maybe it will work. Minor possibility that it will backfire. I think if Marty is bottom 3 he could go for not doing what INXS asked of him.
It is going to be very funny! I think Marty will make it fun, as they asked of him. He has consistently listened to their advice and responded in a professional way. Don't know if he'll pull it off, but it will be interesting to watch - I can't wait! I don't see him in the bottom three.

I think he'll be fine.
A couple years ago I was in a club to see a friend's band. The opening act was a couple with guitars doing very edgy/folky kinda stuff. Think Fiona Apple & that ilk. Very cool stuff.
She started a new song, and was kicking its arse. Everyone in the bar stopped to watch her - she was amazing, mesmerizing.
Can you tell where I'm going with this? It was "Baby One More Time." No one realized it until she got to the chorus, and then the whole place pretty much shrieked (in a good way) because we couldn't believe that song was actually that good -- stripped of the over-production & the Britney-cooing that is.
A couple of years ago I was watching some talk show, may have been Ellen, Rosie, or Oprah, and they were interviewing one of the Hobbits from Lord of the Rings. He grabbed a guitar and sang an acoustical song. I recognized the tune but couldn't place it. He sounded darn good. Yup... when he got to the choruse I recognized "Hit Me Baby One More Time." It was like Keith Urban goes Britney.If Marty can't pull this one off maybe INXS should start considering Hobbits?
One of the other things in Marty's letter was the fact that the song was more difficult than you would think. Can't wait to hear what he does with it.I can't wait to see what everybody else has to sing. I was so frustrated when they only showed MiG, Marty's & Suzie's songs.
I really think, INXS pretty much has it narrowed down to who they want, so their assigning songs could be their way of trying to take more control on showcasing strengths/weaknesses for us viewers to see. They want to take some of these guys out of their "safe" zone, like MiG & even Jordis (who had her first bad performance last week) and put them to the test.
I'm on pins & needles for the concert show tonight.
The show was definately interesting and I couldn't help but laugh when Marty had to sing that horrible song,poor guy it looked like it was "painful" for him to say, but I must admit he did rock it.
I thought Marty's version was awesome. Kinda dark. Loved it.
