How long is this show supposed to last?

Let's talk ideal world, for a minute, as in great ratings. Were they planning to have this be a summer show? Or were they thinking, yeah, let's have this go into mid-October?

Here's my point: they may start eliminating 3 at a time...

If they eliminate 1 per week to leave 2 at the end, that's 8 weeks, to early October. And since the ratings aren't what they hoped, that may be too long for a bunch of network suits. (Then again, CBS stuck with Numb3rs for a whole season. Did ANYONE watch that?) Two at a time every week would be 4 more weeks to a showdown of 2. Hmmm. Maybe that's it. 3 at a time would be too much, too fast. Instead of the bottom 3 singing to see which one gets eliminated, they'll be singing to see which one gets to stay.

Last night Brooke (?) the host said by the end of the summer one of the rockers would be the new lead singer of INXS. It's anyone's guess what "end of summer' means.

Hi everyone, I've been lurking almost since the show started. These boards are so much easier to read than those other places! I never planned to watch the show and didn't know it was on when flipping through the channels. I'm now hopelessly addicted.

I saw this earlier today and according to this article the show is supposed to end September 20.

Sorry, I just saw this story, I think I'll be replying to myself. That'll look dumb. This says that the Sep. 20 end is 2 weeks sooner than planned so I think eventually we'll see another double elimination.

They're moving the Monday night 1/2 hour to V-H1 on Sundays?!

I'm very surprised that all three weren't sent home last night. They have to start speeding up this process somehow.

Actually, there are seven weeks until the final show on Sept. 20th. That means if they have two people left on the final show then they would only need to have one more double elimination between now and then. If they have three people on the final show, they could get rid of them one at a time since it's seven weeks with nine people left. Make sense?

If most weeks are like this week, it wouldn't be fair to knock out two people since they did so well! It's fine by me to have three people on the last show. Maybe it wouldn't be as boring as the last few American Idols.
