"Ryan Star...Ryan Starr"

Haven't seen any comment on this elsewhere, but there is just NO WAY Ryan Star could win. I highly doubt that is his real name, though I don't actually know. I imagine most people here remember DAW original AI contestant Ryan Starr, pseudo-rocker chick who probably wishes she could have done Rock Star instead of Idol. Has since appeared on several other reality shows and straight to video flicks.

So why in the world would he pick a name that is already used?

It cracks me up. On the other hand, it's not like the, uh, first Ryan Star(r?)'s career has exactly gone supernova either.

Maybe he was thinking this Ryan Star when picking a name http://poll.imdb.com/name/nm1501803/ rather than Ryan Starr from Idol http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1225759/

Do we know that's not his real name? Does he even know who Ryan Starr is?

Excellent point/question, Glowie. Also, I suspect Mr. Ryan Star has never watched one ep of AI.

What straight to video flicks are you talking about? I didn't know Ryan Starr did movies.

I think she was in that movie "Ring of Darkness" with Hobie from Baywatch. I've seen it a couple of times on cable.

The IMDB listing I posted lists the movie mentioned and a couple of other acting roles.

Finally! An answer to your question from the man himself. As I assumed, he did not "pick" a name.

And, fwiw, I still totally disagree with the first part of your post.

Thanks for the link Glowie. I had wondered about that too. And I agree with you, he is a contender. A hot one at that. I might have to fight HD for him.

Go Pack!

Well...he did kind of pick it. But not totally, and not out of the ether.

I will say that he has definitely grown a personality since the beginning, and has been great the last couple weeks, but 4th place is the best I can see him getting.

And the "other" one, Ryan Starr, did totally pick her name, but it wasn't in the "third or fourth" episode of American Idol, I saw her first performance and she had already invented her name.

His is at least half-given, but since he became "famous" second, it's his cross to bear.

I couldn't remember her changing the name on the show either but I thought his comment was cute. *fangirl*

I'm not sure if he became "famous" second or not. I'll do some back checking but I'm pretty sure he was "famous" before AI even started.

I totally agree with you...I never thought he made up a stage name and I think he is a very strong contender. Thanks for the link to a most interesting article. I get frustrated by much of the TV editing! GRRRrrrrr.. and this article really clarifies a few things for me.

'Ryan Star' indeed. We can all see it's Jeff Goldblum, who will reveal his true identity next week (after the break).
