"Still so excited!"

I can't believe that I waited all this time to finally post something but I was way too biased and didn't want to get into the nastiness, but now that it's all over...or rather just begining I want to post. All summer I have had to flip flop between Canadian Idol with hometown boy Aaron Walpole's talented performances and Rock star INXS where my nieces step brother JD was blowing me away. I was disappointed with the CI outcome but both me and my 10 year old son couldn't stop jumping around and screaming last night...(poor neighbors). We will definately be going to see INXS in corcert and hopefully our three degrees of seperation could get us some backstage passes (or at least really great seats)....can't wait! Congratulations JD...we love you! (Can't get that damn song outta my head either!)

So, your niece's step-brother...that makes him your step-nephew, eh?

Lucky you! How fun for you! Congratulations!

But, remember, Thanksgiving is an American holiday, Dahlink.

Carp! How about Christmas? I DID say in another thread that I was holding out for JD under my Christmas tree. And, really, I'm not real picky about WHOSE tree he is under...as long as I'm there.

Ahem! It will be my tree. I just have to make sure none of the pine needles let the air out of him.

I'm such a slut for the blues.

Canadian Thanksgiving is in October! Even closer!

I was wondering about this, and I really mean no offense by what I'm about to ask. I'm trying to word this carefully. And, maybe you don't know the answer, as JD is your step-nephew.

Why was JD living in his car? Was it a different town, where he had no family? Did his family know this? Did he refuse offers of help? Would accepting help mean that he would have to be in a different town, and would THAT have meant that he couldn't follow his dream?

Much is being made of this part of his life, as an inspiring rags-to-riches thing. Plus, he seems to have a loving family. So, I was just wondering.

I've been trying to find this article again that mentions it, because I always felt the living in the car thing was probably exaggerated.

Anyway, JD said words to the effect that earlier this year he was working on some gigs and made some bad choices and ended up staying with friends, crashing on couches a few days at at time because youd don't crash too long if you want them to remain your friends. It was easir just to crash in his car.

I took it to mean that this was not a long term thing, he was still working the music, didn't want to give that up to get a day job and didn't want to go home to mommy. Maybe mommy was too far away (not in the same city as his gigs, etc.) Maybe it was pride. I loved his "can I borrow $50?" joke.

Up2L8 -- You are so lucky to have a relation to J.D., I'm just a teeny bit jealous. You wouldn't have had to worry about the nastiness, because there are a lot of us who have been diehard J.D. fans since the beginning & have been posting our love affair of all things J.D. for weeks and weeks.

Sorry, Weltek & Geg, but J.D. is going to be under MY Christmas tree, but probably not until next year, because I won't meet him until he plays in my city next year. I'll invite you to my Christmas party, though. I'm willing to share the wealth Fortune with those worthy.

Hi everyone
As a very fringe relation (it's on my husbands side and distant) I don't really know JD at all (wish I did). I know his step-sister (my neice) very well, and believe me I'll be grilling her soon enough. I don't think that he was "in his car" for long and I can only imagine it was when he lived far away because he does have a loving family. Sorry I'm not more help.
Still can't wait to go see him and OB in concert!

JD rocks and I am happy that he won. But we have already discussed that.

What we didn't discuss (at least I couldn't find a place to discuss) was Canadian Idol and how great your homeboy Aaron was. Canadian Idol (and American Idol) are crap compared to Rock Star (way to candy-coated for my liking and the voting all seems to be done by 17-year old girls vs Rcok Star with some edge). Having said that, I thought Aaron was great, and think that he could have some edge, if the opportunity presented itself.

Since Aaron is from a fairly small town, I assume you might actually see him around, once all the CI touring finishes.

cheers

I agree that the Idol shows are far inferior. As for seeing Aaron...I just saw him yesterday. I work in the local mall and he was there doing some press (and getting a haircut..lol). He's a great guy and we were so sorry to see him eliminated...our whole city would lose our phone lines at 9:00 when voting started because we were all trying to vote at once. I'm really glad the INXS voting was on-line...much easier.
