"Regional Voting"

Watching MiG survive and reading Braiderd's post made me wonder, are we watching regional voting? Any Aussie's out there who can comment?

I have to admit that I started out that way and that the Canadian media has really, really, really pushed the show and the Canadian rockers (maybe why the ratings are good here). But now, I am just voting for who I love...although she happens to be Canadian!

I've also wondered if most Australian's were voting for Mig. It's a big generalization, so I'm not willing to hang my hat on it. Maybe there are many from other countries who would also like to see an Aussie fill an Aussie's spot. Can't blame them, I guess.

I think Mig has fans all around the world, not just Australia and Asia. I've seen them post on other boards where this topic has come up and DH and I are non-teenage (to say the least!) Americans voting for Mig. I only think he arguably "deserved" bottom three last week, not the week before, and it's not the first time a contestant other than Mig and Jordis "deserved" bottom three and did not get it.

Second week in a row that MiG was spared the bottom three. Even he knows he should be there.

MiG was born in the Phillipines and apparently has a prominent family there although he moved to Australia when he was very young. I get the impression that MiG is pulling in a lot of the Asian vote based on his Asian background. Also, someone on another board explained how popular karoake bars are in Asia and how the more successful western performers there tend to be more pop-oriented rather than the hard rockers or edgy groups.

This actually makes more sense to me when trying to understand how MiG has not hit the B3 for the last few weeks. Maybe to a Western eye, he is not "rock" enough but more bubble gum and that's exactly why he appeals to the Eastern eye. Also, although he's very sexy, it's a very safe sexy as opposed to J.D. who is sexy and dangerous and I think he's getting a lot of teenage fangirls to vote for him.

Just guessing anyway. If he wins, I hope INXS enjoys touring Asia and Australia.

Agreed Cassandra, although I'd say Mig isn't sexy at all.

Did you see him trying to take his shirt off during his Hard to Handle performance? He didn't even know how to do it.

Such a waste of such a beautiful bod!
