"DWTS 17 Ep. 1 ECST"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 07:56 PM
Another season another show another round of debating who is on the Z list and who we have to invent new letters for and what song was the band attempting to butcher? Can't be certain I can do this regularly this season, but I probably can at least get a thread started and if I can't post I can do an organization with the remaining glitter coated asteroids pretending to be stars sub-threads if people would like that.

Stars dancing with a limo. AT least it isn't a Land Rover. Various "star" seen as the pros dance around them down the red carpet.Well that was a different way to start the show.
Mandy Moore snuck over from SYTYCD to put that number together.

So I finally risk turning this thing back on and the first song I have to listen to The Worst Band In All The Land mangling is Blurred Lines?Oh hell no.

"mangling Blurred Lines"Who would have thought such a thing was possible?

I think they are using the studio recordings. This is so weird. And on MJ's the rumor is they are doing the SYTYCD one show a week thing as well.

They ripped off SYTYCD and they didn't do it as well.
"Brant and Peta"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 08:10 PM
She starts with "are you single" and she is too. They start with the Cha Cha Cha.He called his mom and she was freaking out in Walmart.
He is a "single threat" maybe Peta can get him to be a "double threat".
Blurred Lines, is that the real song, not the band?
Moved things around, some space between Tom and Bruno.
Len. Sail on, that was fabulous.
Bruno. Very hot stuff, easy on the eye. Sizzling teaser, hot morsels, and Bruno calls himself out on being creepy.
Carrie Ann. Double threat potential. Chemistry fun to watch, one boo boo.

"Leah and Tony"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 08:21 PM
She says she is not a dancer at all.Dancing the Foxtrot to Tears Dry On Their Own, Amy Winehouse
Bruno. Satisfying for somone who never has done it before. You've done it before. You practiced a lot. She went Miley Cyrus for a moment.
Carrie Ann. Sass and Class, great combination. All the shades of Leah, extend a little bit more.
Len. Careful in places, clean and precise. You should be proud.

Dear Bruno,Twerk you.
Sincerely,
Everyone who now suspects Miley's coming on the show.
I felt as if Tony was doing his best to mask Leah there. I honestly don't know what the judges were seeing in her: all the movements came across as -- well, minimal is a good word. Tony seemed to be carrying her and most of Section Three.
"RE: Leah and Tony"
Posted by whimsey on 09-16-13 at 08:37 PM
Was that Jennifer Lopez in the audience?
"RE: Leah and Tony"
Posted by udg on 09-16-13 at 09:09 PM
Apparently Leah already managed to ##### off the costume department. That length, with those white gores, just wouldn't flatter anyone.

High School Musical, dancing contemporary.
Corbin matches her in the crazy department *cover's eyes*If I Lose Myself.
Karina's hands were shaking after ward.
Carrie Ann. Wooohooo that was beautiful and passionate, it flowed emotion.
Len. This is week one? The standard has bee terrific. Next week the Jive.
Bruno. Strong powerful with a tender touch.

Has MS, raising awareness about it.Dancing the Foxtrot to Pack Up.
Jlo caught on camera popping her gum, and a crewman seen walking around.
Sharon crying.
Len. You can dance, you were fabulous. Loved your footwork.
Bruno. Joyful playful and uplifting, starts singing then catches himself. He loses the spot when turning. Starts and argument.
Carrie Ann. I want to know how Sharon is feeling right now. Jack you are a ballroom dancer, so smooth, I'm blown away.
8 - 8 - 7 - 23 BOOOO goes the audience to Bruno.

LAST EDITED ON 09-16-13 AT 08:48 PM (EST)And there's the camerawork which made this show famous -- for having horrible camerawork.
Speaking of famous... he's Armed & Current Second Place!
I'm trying not to look at this early season as Battle Of The Sob Stories. MS vs. brain cancer. Who will win? Who will lose? Who will get the most people claiming they're faking it for votes? Stay tuned!
(But seriously, it so feels like AI auditions right now. Jennifer Boomerang isn't helping.)
"Amber and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 08:52 PM
Amber doesn't trust Tom.Dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Wings.
I'm impressed they figured out how to dress her so she looks good.
Bruno. You are the tigress of season 17. That is how you shake it and make it yours.
Carrie Ann. I bow to you. Turned that Cha Cha, I'm hot now.
Len. I need a medic, perspirating and flatulating, incredible flat out fabulous.

"RE: Amber and Derek"
Posted by Estee on 09-16-13 at 08:55 PM
perspirating and flatulatingThings I did not need to know.
I don't exactly wish Amber ill in any way, but I swear the last party to get this many suspect random draws was the New York Knicks. Anyone want to accuse Derek of dance-shaving?
"RE: Amber and Derek"
Posted by udg on 09-16-13 at 09:14 PM
She must have sent chocolate to Wardrobe. She looked MUCH better than the taller & thinner Leah.
"The orchestra"
Posted by whimsey on 09-16-13 at 08:55 PM
WTF!! no live band?? I know we kid and such but that's like, 15 jobs gone, right?
"RE: The orchestra"
Posted by Estee on 09-16-13 at 08:58 PM
Plus that's fifteen people who will never be hired again and ABC just saved two million dollars a season on tinnitus treatments. That old bottom line.
"Elizabeth and Val"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 09:01 PM
LAST EDITED ON 09-16-13 AT 09:03 PM (EST)He learned English watching Saved By The Bell. Want to reconnect to her love of dance.
Imagine, but not the John Lennon version, is this the band, or someone's cover.
Carrie Ann. Amazing, passionate poetic angel. You are far superior to Showgirls.
Len. Lovely, speed and quiet, lovely to watch.
Bruno. Watch out darlings the original showgirl is back and she means business. Extend your lines even more.
8 - 8 - 8 - 24
Tom says Val says first impressions are not his best thing, and awkward rehearsal clip.
"RE: Elizabeth and Val"
Posted by Estee on 09-16-13 at 09:05 PM
imagine we're going to get through the season
without any Showgirls jokes...and too late.
Is it just me, or are the scores ridiculously high for opening night?
"RE: Elizabeth and Val"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 09:10 PM
So far, yes they are very high.
"RE: Elizabeth and Val"
Posted by udg on 09-16-13 at 09:18 PM
1) I HATE that they've added CONTEMPORARY to a BALLROOM competition. WTF?2) That felt REALLY robotic. Like someone entered all the "contemporary steps & moves" into a computer, and it spat out a "dance".
"Bill Nye and Tyne"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 09:09 PM
Hot Knowledge.Dancing the Cha Cha Cha. He can swing dance.
Mad Science set. Dancing to Weird Science.
Oh dear, oh oh dear.
Audience chanting.
Len. It was like being waxed. Painful while it happened and lovely when it is over. It was fun. Not enough content for me.
Bruno. This formula will not get you the Nobel Prize. Don't pluck her.
Carrie Ann. You are the kind of contestant that makes this a special show. You were alive and happy to be dancing. You are the heart of the show.
5 - 4 - 5 - 14 And the audience is not happy.
"RE: Bill Nye and Tyne"
Posted by Estee on 09-16-13 at 09:12 PM
LAST EDITED ON 09-16-13 AT 09:15 PM (EST)It's not a DWTS season until someone says "What the @#$% was that?" Six different people just said it. I know that because they all texted me.
And in case you ever wondered what Cast To Lose looked like, that? Was it. My best explanation is that someone really wanted Bill Nye to have the welcome/training fee. Also, Dead Doll Dance 2.0: Now With Lightning!
This is the sort of thing which makes me miss the Worsters. They would be voting so hard right now...
"RE: Bill Nye and Tyne"

My first thought was he dances like Andy ##### having a stroke.
"RE: Bill Nye and Tyne"
Posted by whimsey on 09-16-13 at 09:22 PM
LAST EDITED ON 09-16-13 AT 09:22 PM (EST)It's early yet. Don't know if he's the "Andy D!ck" of this season. He has musicality not yet revealed.
That said, yeesh.
"RE: Bill Nye and Tyne"
Posted by udg on 09-16-13 at 09:22 PM
Unfortunate choreography. Let's take an awkward body type and tell him to be even more awkward. It backfired bigtime. I really hope newbie "pro" figures it out before poor Science Guy gets the boot.
"Keyshawn and Sharna"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 09:18 PM
Dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Treasure.Bruno. Like the empire state building trying to be a rockette. Bigger you are harder to do the fast dances. You lost timing, but you have the moves.
Carrie Ann. Stiff at the beginning once you started grinding.
Len. Attitude and technique. Attitude is terrific. Came out and gave it some.
6 - 5 - 6 - 17
"RE: Keyshawn and Sharna"
Posted by Estee on 09-16-13 at 09:20 PM
I saw a bit of the old Meshawn come out, but I also feel as if the judges went low on him in the hopes that Bill Nye would pull out more of the popular vote and drop Mandatory NFL Slot into last place.
"RE: Keyshawn and Sharna"
Posted by Round Robin on 09-18-13 at 11:43 AM
This can't be. The football player NEVER gets booted first, and I can't believe they'll allow it now. Especially since this football player works for ESPN, which the Mouse also owns. But who will TPTB eff over so Keyshawn can be saved?
"Christina and Mark"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 09:27 PM
Dancing Contemporary. Never partnered danced before.Dancing Contemporary to Clarity.
Spooning in the Smoke says Tom.
Carrie Ann. You move beautifully you are better than you think you are, not connecting with the audience for the first half.
Len. This dance suited you. Little wild with control. Not quite so careful.
Bruno. So much drama, I love the torment. Sometimes you have to remember about your hands, sometimes they are dead.
7 - 7 - 8 - 22
"RE: Christina and Mark"
Posted by udg on 09-16-13 at 09:28 PM
LAST EDITED ON 09-16-13 AT 09:30 PM (EST)Mark is obviously a lot more familiar with Contemp than Val. The choreography came together much more naturally. I didn't really LIKE it, but it "felt" better.
ETA: I just caught up with Live TV, so I'm gonna hit pause and go throw in a load of laundry. Don't want to have to listen to all the BS between dances.
"RE: Christina and Mark"
Posted by Estee on 09-16-13 at 09:28 PM
Now why didn't Bill Nye use that smoke in his mad science routine? Not only would it have fit, but his footwork would have been hidden!Dead hands? We have lightning for that.
"Bill Engvall and Emma"
Posted by Snidget on 09-16-13 at 09:37 PM
I'm going to catch so much flack from my friends...Wants to be the redneck's dancing King.
Dancing the Foxtrot to Hot Stuff.
Wow, so much better than I was expecting, and he looked like he was having so much fun.
Len. Week one is holding your nerve and remembering the routine, you gave it plenty of whammy, you did it.
Bruno. I felt it, not sure what it was...heartburn? I could sense a hint of elegance, hidden at the moment, we may see it next week.
Carrie Ann. I was happily surprised, you have good musicality, a little more smoothy woothy.
6 - 6 - 6 - 18
Tom, did you just say let's see how that translates into paddling??
"RE: Bill Engvall and Emma"
Posted by Estee on 09-16-13 at 09:43 PM
Tom's auditioning for Celebrity Apprentice. Fear. It's not exactly a spoiler, but I know Engvall will still be working during the show's duration: billboards claim he's coming to Atlantic City next month. So either he thinks he'll be out early or he's just going to be double-shifting the whole time.

Bruno. How criticize a national treasure. You were radiant, stylish, shoulders went up. I'm so happy you are here.
Carrie Ann. Thank you for being on our show. Dance is healing. Setting such an example, I respect you. Have to work on your spots.

Len. Lovely cuban breaks nice and crisp.
Bruno. I do like a wild child. Love the way you go for it, your legs are so well places.
