It's Motown night with the DWTS band trying to kill off singers live and in person and they can't defend themselves with a mute button.

Apparently we will getting a dance marathon as well this week.

On the rocks, please.

Takes a heaping portion of guacamole.

I should know this, being your bartender for so long, but "salt or no salt?

Gavin got swept away, who will catch the spirit of the motor city.

Smokey Robinson sings us in. (is it me or did they tighten up his eyelids too much and he cannot blink)

Martha Reeves

The Temptations

Human Nature has a Motown album and show and will be singing during the evening.

They sing for awhile before the dancing starts. Why is Tristan dressed all nerdy?

Len: If I could judge with my heart you would be top of the leaderboard. Not the best dancer, the most charismatic dancer. So appealing, easy like Sunday morning.

Bruno. Have star quality. Motown qualities spot on, like my rumba a bit steamier.

CA. Tonight is going to belong to you. I would pay to see that dance again, magical. Lot of forgetful moments, hip action fantastic.

Len: If I was home, I'd be on the phone now.

Scores: 7~7~7 21/30

Funny, I got a Groupon for Human Natures concert NYC. Glad I got it, but I thought, "I'll never find anyone to go with me". Problem solved.

Gladys just makes me smile! I love this music and so nice to hear it live, by the originals.

That was cute, not sure if it was the best, but cute.

B. Gleaming elegance, lost you footing, frame is fantastic.

CA. Like the edge of the diamond. Slip through you off.

Len. In hold it was correct and formal, out of hold it was fun and free. Joy to my eyes.

That was painful. Not the dance. The was fine. But Martha Fingernails-on-the-Blackboard Reeves? That's an exercise in survival of the ears.

ETA: But then that's how I felt about her music in the 1960s, too.

And an audience member steps in front of the camera...gotta love live TV.

CA. Got sexy at the end. In general, a bit over-exaggerated. On the drag turn foot way off the ground.

Len. Movement clipped and jerky. I didn't dislike it. Too jerky, too much syncopation.

Bruno. What you lack in size you make up in fire. Your body wants to hit the beat all the time, have to go through it. Not correct movement for the rumba but performance was good.

7~8~8 23/30

Not sure that bounce is showing up much in the performance. I'm really not liking this Samba. Maybe the beehive was too stiff.

L. Was there an earthquake, the midwife, you keep delivering week after week.

Bruno. Bounce and funk the both of you. Never been more exhilarating.

CA. You let it loose.

Guess I didn't see what the judges did.

Scores: 10~9~10 29/30

I enjoyed that, I'm sure the judges will tell me how wrong that was...

Bruno. Pizazz, Confidence, put so much into it, performances get better and better.

CA. So in your zone. Transition into hold great. Didn't mind dancing with you.

Len. I know you were disappointed with me last week. Thought you would show me some fireworks, you didn't, you exploded. Peta this man can give more, work him.

TRAVIS TOMORROW!!!!

Scores 9~9~9 27/30

Viennese Waltz to Smokey Robinson - Ooh Baby Baby

It could be worse, you could have an ugly partner.

"RE: Melissa and Maks"

CA. Worked so hard, and finally paying off. See artistry and poetry starting to happen. Watch the shoulders.

L. Rotation, control, lost a bit of energy at the end.

B. Some of the extended lines wonderful. A little puffed out (passed out?) at the end.

Len: Week One, this guy is a contender, then not work as I thought, you are back.

B. You burn that floor, biggest sizzler of the season. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

CA. Have to bring the A game every time. A game is brought.

Dancing the Rumba to Smokey Robinson - Being With You

Smoke in rehearsal, will they bring it to the dance floor?

"RE: William and Cheryl"
Posted by Snidget on 04-23-12 at 09:43 PM
Bruno. William, absolute utter filth, loved every minute of it. You two are wired for sex.

CA. On behalf of the women I thank you. I don't think that was your best dance, some moments disconnected, want more content.

Len. Impressive physically dance with confidence. Little on the raunchy side. Anyone can rock their hips, I want the forward and back hip action. Can't go into ecstasy like some people.

9~8~10 27/30

"RE: William and Cheryl"

I agree with Len on this one. All he seemed to do was stand around. He did it beautifully, but there needs to be more content.

Methinks there's a good chance somebody's gonna get hosed.

"RE: The Marathon"
Posted by qwertypie on 04-24-12 at 09:49 AM
Certainly a chance for a shake up. Then again, there is still the dance off tonight, right? Maybe they are hoping for a Derek/Maria bottom so the judges can 'save' them.

"RE: The Marathon"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 04-24-12 at 03:29 PM
Yeah, looking at that list, I think it's gonna be Gladys' turn. It would be interesting, though, to see what happens if she isn't in the bottom two.

"RE: The Marathon"
Posted by qwertypie on 04-24-12 at 04:58 PM
I would actually laugh out loud if she weren't. I am superticked about the judges' save. This is a celebrity dance competition (feel free to use quotes around dance and/or competition) -- there is no contract or money at stake at the end of this, so there is no reason for the increased judges' interference.

"RE: The Marathon"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 04-24-12 at 08:35 PM
I'm actually hoping she doesn't get in the bottom two, just to see what they'll pull next time to get her out of there.

"RE: The Marathon"
Posted by CTgirl on 04-24-12 at 09:08 PM
Katherine and Mark must have been really dancing their butts off when the camera wasn't on them because I kept on saying, "they're next," throughout the entire marathon. IMO it was really weak. I think the judges tossed the points to them because she doesn't have a big fan base.

What I felt like I saw was that they were consistent - good transitions and good energy all the way to the end. The other couples often broke the rhythm of the dance and had to pick it back up, especially after lifts.
