Who will maintain the high standards set this season, who will falter, will America watch without any train wrecks or controversial dancers, will the band make any song played tonight recognizable?

Keep all the answers to these questions and more until the West Coast finishes watching the NCAA championship game.

The Afro scares me, why was that choice made.

Melissa seems to be the most under dressed and that takes some doing against the professionals.

Drink of the night

Chianti

snack of the night

From the Meatball Factory - choice of meat lovers, veggie or turkey:
sauces - marinara, vodka and spicy

Of course, there's garlic bread - cheese and plain.

Since it is sob story night, I may need an extra glass or 12 of the Chianti.

"Jack and Anna"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 08:07 PM
Most memorable year. Last year. 2011 had a miracle happen. Young girl grabbed him, said I'm your daughter at a concert. Dancing to one of his songs from that show.

Samba is a celebration.

He starts on the judges tables.

Dancing to no earthly idea. Something about moonlight.

"RE: Jack and Anna"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 08:10 PM
Looks like daughter in the audience.

Len: had a couple of happy pills. Totally different side of you. Liked the rhythm, upper body a bit forced, great mix of steps you best dance.

Bruno. Got the party started. Tonight you were on it, timing much better.

Carrie Ann. I was crying in your package. Clean and neat, something effervescent. Want to see more of you.

8~8~8 24/30 Highest score so far.

"Maria and Derek"

Most memorable year 1988. 10 years old. Parents worked hard and they'd go to work with them. Material Girl was a song she played on the jukebox whenever she found a quarter.

Rumba to Material Girl. This could be odd.

The dirgifying of pop music has finally reached DWTS.

I was too distracted by the music to notice much other than they were laying down at one point.

B. I felt it. Is it aphrodite, the goddess of love. Danced all this with a melodic line, difficult to do. No beat.

C. That was the vertical and horizontal expression of the horizontal desire. The maturity and the sensuality, languid movement. Breathtaking.

L. Mix of ball room with a touch of the bed room. Smoldering intensity, technique good. Fabulous dance.

Scores after the break.

Twitter wants to know if they kissed.

9~9~9 27/30 Highest score of the season. Maria was doing something in a wrestling ring with the broken rib.

Again with the 9s so early in the competition.

So again, both Derek and Mark have really good partners. Poor Tony has never had this kind of luck.

"Gladys and Tristan"

Foxtrot, 1957. The first tour. She was 13. Boy did she learn some things.

Dancing to Cupid by Sam Cooke.

The borrowed a red door from American Idol across the hall.

Nice, nothing special, but nice.

CA. Saw improvement in your frame. Dance like you sing.

Len. (we are the same age) the amount of work and the dedication to come out here, I couldn't do it. Liked the flow of this. Frame better. Can I please be a pip?

B. Such grace and finesse. Frame was better, gorgeous out there.

Scores after the break.

8~8~8 24/30

"Roshon and Chelsie"

Samba to Jackson Five. 1996 first time he saw Michael Jackson on stage.

Travis Payne, MJ's choreographer came into help.

Dancing the Samba to I want you back.

"RE: Roshon and Chelsie"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 08:43 PM
Len. Like the exuberance, did the MJ stuff more. Liked a bit more traditional Samba. Give it 100$.

B. You go. MJ would love it and so do I. This is it. I thought I was watching him.

CA. Great tribute, sometimes the transitions through you out of timing, loved the innovation.

Tomorrow night music from Seal and Rascal Flatts.

8~8~9 25/30

"Gavin and Karina"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 08:49 PM
Billy Joel New York State of Mind. A Billy Joel Concert is what had him go into music. Dad really believed in him.

Dancing the Rumba.

"RE: Gavin and Karina"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 08:54 PM
B. You've got hips and you can move them. It is good to see, extending your moves, watch the turns. Getting better all the time.

CA. I'm caught up, heart all fluttery for you. Something so sexy and sensual, authentic attention to detail. I've got Gavin fever.

L. Thought your heart fluttered because you were next to me. Good hips, more musicality, didn't mind the pivots. I see progression.

Song for design a dance announced tomorrow.

Gavin can't talk during the interview.

8~8~8 24/30 seems to be the score you get for most everything tonight.

Well, that was kind of a shock. I liked it and he made me tingle just a bit!

"Kathrine and Mark"

1996, Dad had lung cancer. Pulled out of class by auntie to be with him when he fell into a coma in hospice.

Josh Groban's "To Where You Are"

Dancing the Waltz

"RE: Kathrine and Mark"
Posted by whimsey on 04-02-12 at 09:05 PM
It pains me to say this, but Mark was as emotional as Katherine. He was restrained and controlled and danced for her. Hard to say it, there it is. *sigh*

"RE: Kathrine and Mark"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 09:06 PM
CA. Your Dad is smiling, magic, like your father's arms around you, amazing.

L. There is lovely movement, I am in an exceptionally good mood. There wasn't quite enough dancing in hold. She is so great when she is in hold. Next time I may not be so happy go lucky.

B. Sensational.

10~9~10

29 out of 30.

So Whimsey, how about 10's already?

William better be nekkid! I keep thinking, "These are not the pimp spot dances"!!! What is to become of us?

But then I switched over to The Voice and there were actually nekkid guys!

"Sherri and Val"

Son really sick. Oh gosh I can't take anymore sob stories.

Stuggling with the rumba in practice.

Brought Jeffrey in.

Dancing the Rumba to If I Could.

"RE: Sherri and Val"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 09:17 PM
She needs to stop pulling those faces so much.

L Well done.

B. Momma can move.

(I'm getting tired, and tired of the sob stories, just can't keep up with them anymore).

Ca. So true to yourself. Lines best I've seen.

Tom ushers them across the stage and up the stairs.

8~8~8 Default score of the night.

"Melissa and Maks"

And the who has the biggest sob story contest continues. 2010 Surgery and was walking with a walker, broke her back.

That hairography at the end was an awkward end to a mostly awkward dance.

B. But the Raunch into the Jive.

CA. Loved it, so dynamic.

L. Happy endings, you have come into the competition.

Scores after the break:

8~8~8

Gee, I almost typed that in before the break. How could I have guessed that score.

"RE: Melissa and Maks"

Awkward is a good word to describe her. I'm not sure why, but there is something about her that bugs me.

Dancing the Rumba.

No idea what song this is.

"RE: Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by Snidget on 04-02-12 at 09:37 PM
CA. Bye Bye Urkel, back in the game. Just glide like nobody's business.

L. Competent, hips going with rhythm, a little stiff in the arms.

B. Play it cool, smooth. Rumba has to be fluid, don't throw it.

Off to the skybox before the audience riots.

Tonight, brought to you by Kleenex.

Scores

9~8~8 25 out of 30

Well, that was just way too much emotion for spent on Stephan. I found that annoying. He is not one of the young ones, so surely there has been something that has happened to him that was more significant than playing Stephan!

"RE: Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by Round Robin on 04-03-12 at 04:41 AM
They didn't show it, but there was a report on the DWTS14 thread over on Sucks that Jaleel & Kym had a huge fight. They totally swept it under the rug, but if what I read over there became common knowledge, Jaleel would lose a lot of votes.

"RE: Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by JessicaRN on 04-03-12 at 04:06 PM
I saw that story and if it is even close to being true, he is despicable. Poor Kym.

"RE: Jaleel and Kym"
Posted by Round Robin on 04-04-12 at 03:34 AM
Everybody involved is saying for public consumption that the whole thing was blown way out of proportion, and given the generally low quality of the media outlets reporting on it, they could be right. But they usually show the fights between partners, so for this one not to have been shown or mentioned at all, it must have been pretty ugly.

L. Will put a whole new meaning into Free Willie. You conquered the Salsa.

B. Can you come closer please. I hate you, that was amazing.

CA. What do you say to that. You are ridiculous. Issue with Cheryl, got stuck with legs.

Dancing the Rumba to One Sweet Day.

"RE: Donald and Peta"

Oh yikes the singing is bad. Peta going into the light.

CA. The passion you expressed was mesmerizing. THe love I felt emanating. Even a bit of a turned in toe and a bit of a lift, and I'm not calling lift.

L. Didn't expect you to dance with such warmth and emotion. This whole evening. Awesome.

B. What I like is you push yourself to the limit. Professional standard, always in control. Battle of the hunks.

ATT spotlight performance will be a tear jerker tomorrow as well.
