So tonight they're gonna do two dances, the second one will be "dancing through the ages" as we see a return of the time-era'd theme dances.........This should be an interesting night.
50s, 60s, 80s, 90s, and the future are the eras this time...... 70s get no respect.......Erin: Doesn't trust Maks, but this round suits her.....
Evan: Has the total package, but he needs chemistry with Anna.
Chad: Beautiful posture, good frame...... but doesn't know how to move around the dance floor
Nicole: Almost unfair how good she is, but she doesn't enjoy the ride.....
Niecy: Elegant, but must be lighter on her feet and technique....
Even with 10 dances we have so much filler so far.Hopefully they will get going soon.
Drink of the nightChenin Blanc
snack of the night
fettuccine with broccoli and carrots in a cream sauce
He's finally in touch with his sensitive side. Doing the Jive and Tango (no mention on the era for the Jive, though....)He's prone to mood swings....... and it might be driving Cheryl crazy.......
Dancing the Tango to Beautiful Nightmare?
Yep, Beyonce Knowles : Beautiful NightmareThat was pretty good but didn't really excite me that much.
If only I could wear that dress the way she does ...
I wouldn't have to work for a living, that's for sure.
The judges say that it lacked polish......Scores: 7-7-7 for a total of 21. Not exactly a hot start for the night......
Chad always bores me. I agreed with their scores.
Niecy knows that she has something that the others' don't....... she doesn't know what yet, but she's sure that she has it......We get to see a glimpse of her day, including her tapings at The Insider, which is around 7:30am local time........
Dancing the Viennese Waltz to I Got You Babe
That was a nice dance, but I almost ran screaming from the room from the singers. But they can come over and dust my floor anytime.
![]()
They did have complimentary things to say, but there were some parts for them to pick apart.....Gypsy Kings and a College Dance Championship....... Purdue vs. UCLB, I think.....
Scores: 7-8-8 for a total of 23......
That was quite lovely and well done, I think. I love Louis more and more.
I like Niecy. She always makes me smile. But her hands were distracting. I felt like I was watching a windmill.
They got their highest scors to date, but yet they landed in the Bottom Two......Erin seems to be a little scared of heights....... especially jumping off of a stage and into Maks' arms........
Dancing the Argentine Tango to what appears to be Argentine Tango music......
Yikes that lift was scary.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Pillows?
thank you
It was so hot that Carrie Ann planted a big wet one on Len!Len called her a dirty, dirty girl and loved it.....
Bruno called Maks a very lucky fire hydrant...........
Dance Center returns tomorrow!
Scores: 9-10!-9 for a total of 28 and the current lead.
Wow! Loved the jump. That has to be my fave dance this season.
I agree -- it's my fave so far too!
Very very good. Deserved better scores.
He scored the first perfect 30 of the season......Evan decided to let loose and turned the tables on Anna, teaching her how to ice/figure skate.....
Great news for Evan, no hip action in the Waltz.....
Anna says that Evan comes across as cold at times........
Dancing the Waltz to Open Arms
Len is not sure what to make of it, but both Carrie Ann and Bruno compliment him on his lines........ Carrie Ann also tells Evan to 'lose himself' in his dances......Scores: 9-9-9 for a total of 27.
That was very nice. Nice. Evan is a great technician, but he just doesn't have "it". That something that tips the scales over into WOW.Emmit had it, Giles had it, Helio had it, Joey Fatone had it, hell even John O'Hurley had it. Evan just doesn't have it.
You hit the nail on the head. If he had Niecy's "it" , whatever "it" is, he would be my favorite. He is still on top of my list for the season. Nicole, to me, is just too obvious of a ringer. At least try to disquise it a little.
Very nice, but also seems to be in Evan's wheelhouse (to steal a phrase that is all the rage on Idol, lately)
Missed part of the dance. I like Evan more than Nicole among the ringers.Derek is annoying me. Does he have to mug for the camera before every commercial?
Yes, yes he does.
Yes, yes he does.
Echo Echo Echo EchoHonestly, I am not stalking Snidget. I started the reply and got distracted before I could hit the "Post Message" button.

They'll be dancing the Paso Doble and the Fox Trot this week, but no indication on the time period.......Derek says that she's still growing as a dancer, and they then show some of her frustrating moments.......
Dancing the Fox Trot to I Just Haven't Met You Yet?
They started on a park bench with a specially made paper.....
Cute, but seemed more Broadway than Ballroom to me.
More of the Derek Hough show after these messages...
Scores: 10-9-10 for a total of 29 and the lead after the Ballroom Round
YAWN
I thought it was fantastic! They are so entertaining. I'm always so captivated by their dancing. I can't say that about anyone else. I don't mind Derek at all. Of all the professionals he has the most personality and energy. He is far and away the best choreographer.
It's a Tribe!
{snarky tone} well he does tend to get the best dancers which makes choreographing much easier {/snark}
Nicole/Derek 29
Erin/Maksim 28
Evan/Anna 27
Niecy/Louis 23
Chad/Cheryl 21
Chad: Good, smile. Bad, he's a tad too tall
Niecy: Can be too loose.....
Evan: Problem is lack of emotion
Erin: Expect a lot of romance, but she can be sloppy
Nicole: Can be a great dancer, but can be way too nervous.....
On how to make a dance interpret a time frame.......Futuristic Waltz (?) that got them DQ'd from the 2006 Dance Championships for being too edgy.......
Gary and Rita Geckman
LAST EDITED ON 05-10-10 AT 09:09 PM (EST)I remember this broohaha! I thought it was much ado about nothing. Seemed technically brilliant. But what do I know?
This one should be right in his wheelhouse......: His character is a pimp and does things that Cheryl says that he normally does.......Dancing a 60s themed Jive to Love Man
Did not do much for me, but I do want Cheryl's boots.![]()
Austin Powers meets 70s pseudo-disco. Definitely a 60s dance choreographed by folks who weren't around then.
Purdue/UCSD are the colleges in the Collegiate Dance Championship.Scores: 8-8-8 for a total of 24 for the dance, 45 for the night.
Cheryl looked great. It was an OK dance.
Loved her slam about how DWTS should be about people with no dance experience improving.
Yes, me too. Do you think she was talking about anyone in particular? Hmmm...
Niecy's having a little problem with the intensity of the Paso Doble...... but she channels her inner Diva.......Dancing the 90s Paso Doble to Rhythm Is A Dancer
Didn't look that great, but I still like her.
That was interesting. Would loved to have seen Pam/Damian do this one.
Niecy was a little out of control in the dance.......Scores: 7-6-7 for a total of 20 for the dance, 43 for the night......
Unless her troops come out in droves: *plays taps*
1-800-868-3405
That wasn't very good. Niecy seemed lost and heavy footed at times.
Stupid song choice. She was offtime at the beginning and I think that threw her for the rest. OUCH!
Yeah, the whole thing didn't work. The clothes looked like curtains from the 1950s. Sad. I made sure to vote for her anyway.
They drew the 80s to match with their Rhumba, and Maksim says that besides the outfit and music, he's probably not gonna change the dancing style too much, because he believes that it wasn't that different.......Dancing the 80s Rhumba to I Ain't Missing You At All
That wasn't that great and what did Maks do to peeve off the costume people those pants are not the right cut for him.
*eyeroll* at the Band Pimpage.......Brooke tries to play up them using this dance to show their romance that's been rumored all season........
Scores: 8-8-9 for a total of 25 for the dance, 53 for the night.
Yikes! I had such hopes for this dance: Maks channeling Don Johnson in "Miami Vice" , come on people, what could be better? Apparently lots of things could be better.
Not their best. But I enjoyed it. I love Maks hips.
Not an attractive era for Maks. He should have taken his shirt off.
They drew the future for their Cha Cha Cha....... and Evan is playing up his Evan-botness.........Dancing the Futuristic Cha Cha Cha to Bulletproof
Anna's outfit is inspired by The Fifth Element
That was FAB! Really entertaining, maybe not a cha cha cha, but fun.
I liked that even if the robotic and cha cha doesn't quite mesh well.
Len's confused because even though he was playing an android (which is supposed to be stiff) his Cha Cha Cha lacked fluidity.....Scores: 9-8-9 for a total of 26 for the dance, 53 for the night, and currently tied for the lead......
I enjoyed that. Great job Anna.
WOW, I liked it.
They drew the 50s for their Paso Doble..... and Derek's not very happy........ 50s is happy emotions, but the Paso isn't good for that......Elvis meets bull fighting? Hoh boy.
Dancing the 50s Paso Doble to 50s styled Paso Doble music.....
Bruno loved it, and Carrie Ann had a gigglefit before calling it brilliant! Len is dissapointed that there was nothing for him to critize...... he doesn't like to compliment the same couple for multiple dances........Scores: 10!-10!-10! for a score of 30 for the dance, 59 for the night and the outright lead!
Aargh. very. argh. well. ARGH! done.Damn fine choreography, Derek must have called Corkey Ballas.
LAST EDITED ON 05-10-10 AT 10:07 PM (EST)Thanks for the play by play! I hope Chad goes, but I have a feeling it'll be Niecy this week.
Even though Nicole is clearly the best dancer, I just can't root for her. I'm tired of her crying and pretending to be stressed out. It's getting old...not to mention Derek's obnoxious behavior.
My personal faves are Erin and Evan. Hope Erin gets the votes this week!
yes, nicole is the best dancer. that's why i'm rooting for her to win.
derek obnoxious? i think he's hot and sexy. he's one of the very guys you want to pay attention to instead of their female partner. of course except this season where the girl(nicole) is equally hot and sexy.
Should I have watched, I decided to make a siggie rather than watch Derek for a second time.
I will probably be hated by those who hate Derek. I don't know him or Nicole - but they appear to fun, they are attractive and are both talented. I enjoy watching them dance.
Welcome, and we won't hate you.I, like many, used to be a Derek fan as well. But when he and Brooke won, he went all ego. As the trophy was being presented to her, he yanked it away. On the Jimmy Kimmel show, he kept interrupting Brooke and talking over her about his accomplishments, etc. He is very good looking, a brilliant and charismatic dancer, and a wonderful choreographer. But, his ego has gone overboard.
No, Lorr, we won't hate you. This is America, and you may like an egotistical horse's behind if you wish. But Dan's post pretty well puts it in a nutshell why a lot of us hate Derek despite his many good qualities, and why having Derek as a partner has probably cost his last 3 partners viewer votes. To ever win it again, I think Derek needs to take a season or 2 off, then come back with his ego turned off. Otherwise I think his partners will be forever doomed to lose the votes of viewers who detest Derek due to his ego.
I think even getting a couple of seasons where they don't pair him with someone likely to go deep in the season.I'd like to see how he could choreograph when his partner doesn't have long legs and great lines and is gorgeous.
Why can't he ever get one of the clumsy or unpopular? So many of the other dancers only get a shot a the top 5 or better once in awhile and he seems to always get someone that we can tell could make the finals in the first week of the competition.
Rumor has it that Corky Ballas has a lot of clout in the show, which would explain how the Houghs and his son (usually) get the prime dancers. Don't know how true that is. IMDB doesn't list him in any of the credits.
Next Season, Derek gets Tiger Woods. I would watch.
I can't enjoy watching 2 people I don't like dancing.
Exactly. Their personalities ruin it for me too.
Another excellent job. Soooo much better than some of the performances tonight.
Yes, Thanks Vince.Once again, I didn't get to watch, so I really appreciated the comments.
It sounds like the combined weight of Derek and Nicoles' egos and theatrics are finally taking a toll on the viewers' will to live - through any more of their antics.
If I could vote against their personalities (Grandiose and Disingenuous Ringer), I would.
