We're now in the Semi-Finals, and tonight the couples will have to dance 3 different dances for our enjoyment........Hopefully that will cut down on the filler tonight.....
Drink of the nightSangria, chilled with frozen fruit
snack of the night
medium hot salsa, mango salsa, guacamole with chips
bean, 3 cheese, onion and green pepper toastadas
Sangria and guacamole, wOOt!
Could someone please tell the horns section of that blased band that they're part of the reason that some think that the band is teh svck?Tonight they'll be doing 2 new individual dances, and the third dance will be the knockout dance that they were gonna use during the double eliminations/dance off weeks.........
They've enlisted Gilles from last season for advice on how to make this Tango belivable: Make people uncomfortable (sexy uncomfortable, that is)Dancing the Tango to Black and Gold
LAST EDITED ON 11-16-09 AT 09:12 PM (EST)That was uncomfortable for the wrong reasons. I couldn't even tell the dance was a tango. Sad. I so wanted it to work, but between the dress shredding and Donny losing the musicality, it just fell apart.
That was more comfortable like an old pair of shoes than uncomfortably sexy.
Something went awry during the dance....... Donny blames seeing Marie in the audience, but it was possbily something that went awry with the hem in Kym's dress?Scores: 7~7~7 for a total of 21
The best part... Gilles!
Amen, sister!
I've been rooting for Donny all along, but he has gone as far as he can go. It just isn't there.
The music didn't do him any favors, either.
Brooke Burke came in this week to give Joanna some advice and how to deal with Derek....... Brooke asked them to roleplay, and the girls showed Derek how he behaved......Dancing the Viennese Waltz to Hallelujah?
I LOVE THAT SONG!!I really enjoyed this dance. Joanna has really grown on me during the season.
Well done.
Yeah, Brooke!I hate to admit it, but that was lovely.
It was nice when they finally started dancing, they seemed to spend a lot of time futzing around on the stage before they got going.
I don't like Joanna or Derek.
LAST EDITED ON 11-16-09 AT 09:22 PM (EST)Three musical acts tomorrow, including Alisha Keys, and Barry and Robin Gibb...... Also last season's 3rd place couple Melissa and Tony will dance during one of the songs....
Scores: 9~9~9 for a total of 27
ETA: this should be under Joanna/Derek's first dance.....
This'll be the first Latin dance of the night, and during the Latin (non-knockout dance) dances they are required to perform a solo portion........Kelly was rocked by the news that the dog that she was taking care of had passed away.....
Dancing the Rumba to Loving Angels Instead?
Kelly's solo was in the middle, but I'm not sure about it.......
Gosh that solo showed me just how much Louis makes her look good.
No, she wasn't sexy/vampy/hot in her solo, but she has become so much more that her first weeks. I applaud her progress. Those matronly, British hips and clogging feet are goneDamn, did I just say that? whimsey, step away from the sangria
She's come a long way, but I still say when Louis has a hold of her she is a lot better. It could be a confidence thing. If he has her in hold she just has a lot more ease, for me, then when she is by herself.
How fluid she was in her solo, that last position - fab! I just want to smile at her and cheer, she has come so far.
Next week in the Grand Finale there will be a Dance Off between Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice. Also one of the musical acts will be Whitney Houston.Scores: 8~8~8 for a total of 24
They did better than I expected. Kelly has improved.
Last week they were the first to get the perfect 30.Mya set up some ground rules for this week: Late pays a fine, miss a step gives you pushups, breaks only last 10 minutes, and finally listen to Dmitry.......
They also camped out in their studio at least one night.....
Dancing the Waltz to Amore E Musica, it seems.
That last spin might've had a lift, but it was hard to tell by the dress......
Yep, I really couldn't tell with that skirt what was going on with her feet. That was pretty, but something about her never quite connects with me.
I feel Mya's intensity, and that is offputting to me. She is very serious about this competition. I want her to lighten up and enjoy. Thank goodness Maks wasn't her pro, she'd be in traction.
I am officially possessed. More sangria for whimsey, please.
Dmitry scared me at that first dip, I didn't think he'd make it to lift her from that backbend. But my heavens, that man does make me quiver.
Scores: 9~9~10 for a total of 28 and the lead after the first set of dances.
I guess Carrie Ann only notices lifts when she wants to. I find Mya boring.
Yeah, I was surprised Carrie Ann missed that lift. That was huge and obvious.
They have 21 from the first round, 4th place.Where did Donny come from: Born in Utah, sang on the Andy Williams show when he was 5, met his wife when she was 16.... tried to be a solo artist in the 80s which failed.... but he perservered.
Dancing the Samba to One Bad Apple Don't Spoil the Whole Bunch Girl?
Donny's solo was also in the middle of the dance..... again not so much, I think.....
One Bad Apple, Jackson Five. That was fun, it wasn't great, but it was fun.
That falsetto singing by whoever put the vise grips on his privates made my ears bleed, but other than that...
"One Bad Apple" is the Osmond Brothers with Donny singing lead - their first hit if I remember correctly.
One site said Merrill was lead, Donny did the refrain. Looks like both groups did it, but the Osmonds did it first.
Scores: 8~9~9 for a total of 26 for the dance, 47 for the night.
I had a big goofy smile on my face during that dance. I couldn't help it. I liked it.
The V promo...*shudder*
Tell me about it...... I'm now askeered to watch that show....
But they know us...they like our shows...
they come in peace... right???Uh, askeered, too.
LAST EDITED ON 11-16-09 AT 10:04 PM (EST)ETA: They came into round 2 in 2nd place with 27 points.
Where did she come from: Born in Communist Poland, came to US around age 5, just her, mom and her sister. She had ballet lessons but had to quit at age 9 due to lack of money....... Moved to LA to pursue a modeling career.
Dancing the Cha Cha Cha to I Just Can't Get You Out of My Head.
Her solo was on the stage at the beginning of the dance.
It was OK, just seemed to be lacking some chemistry or something like that.
I guess the band slipped Len a nice check during the previous commercial break because they had to stop the show for Len to praise the "best band in the land" *retch*Scores: 9~9~9 for another total of 27 for the dance, 54 total for the night so far.
I always feel like the judges are scoring Derek and not Joanna.
I gotta get me some of those red fringy pants.
LAST EDITED ON 11-17-09 AT 01:01 AM (EST)ETA: Obviously this is Kelly/Louis, on their 2nd dance....
Entered the round in 3rd place with 24 points.
Born in England, lived on the road with her brother Jack during Ozzy's touring. Also was on The Osbournes in the early part of the decade, and her being thrust into the limelight caused her to dive into drugs for a time, but she got herself out of it......
Dancing the Quickstep to 99 Red Baloons
Man that was fast, and fun. Good job, girl.
Scores: 9~9~9 for a total of 27 for the dance, 51 for the night
That was fun and entertaining. Louis has worked wonders. I usually don't like him because of his level of focus and drive, but it worked for Kelly. Yes, she had a couple of oops, but nice.Of Joanna, Donny or Kelly in the finals - I choose Donny and Kelly over Joanna.
Kiss.Of.Death. for Kelly and Donny
Kelly has really impressed me tonight. Her and Louis look so happy.
They led after the first round with 28 pointsWhere did she come from: Born in Washington, DC. She has extensive tap dancing experience from classes in her childhood. Her singing was first displayed in school in secret before she finally showed her parents around age 14...... Around the time her parents were getting divorced, her mother also developed breast cancer......
Dancing the Salsa to Las Isla Bonita (Salsa club edition)Mya's solo was in the middle and seemed to be Josephine Baker inspired..... (I think that was who it was....)
Dmitry, shirtless*thud*
Good call on the Josephine Baker, vince.Even Dmitry couldn't wait to break this out. So great, so fun. Mya was excellent.
Scores: 10~10~10 for a total of 30 for the dance, 58 for the night so far. They lead through 2 rounds.
LAST EDITED ON 11-16-09 AT 10:34 PM (EST)THAT WAS AMAZING!!!! I loved loved loved it!!!
I HOPE the viewers vote her through... it's actually a tough week considering how well Kelly's doing and how blah Donny is...
At least when they dance it gives me the opportunity to go and get a glass of wine. I find her cold and clinical. There is no warmth to their partnership.
They enter this round in DFL with 47 points. This round features the "Knockout" dances or the dances prepared for the Dance-Offs this season: The couple had complete creative control for these dances. They chose the dance style, song, and clothing........
Dancing the Jitterbug to Jump, Shout, Knock Yourself Out?
Jump Shout BoogieHis best dance of the night, that was fun.
Donny is back! That was quite cute.
Scores: 9~9~9 for a total of 27 for the dance, 74 for the night.
Now we know what Donny and Kym were going to do while wearing those horrid green outfits.
They entered this round in 2nd place with 54 pointsDancing the Salsa to.... I have no clue. (it was in Spanish and couldn't figure it out in the small amount of time that the dance was on.....)
It was good, but just didn't do it for me. Sometimes the in your face sexy show off she'd double jointed thing can be too much.
Ditto
Scores: 9~9~9 for another 27 total, grand total of 81 for the night..... They're nothing if not consistant tonight.....
This is the couple I hope do not make the Final 3. It would be really nice to have a non-Ballas/Hough finale after 5 seasons of them winning. And it was funny to watch Joanna with the b!tchface behind Mya when she got her final 30.
They entered this round in 3rd place with 51 points.Dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Girls Just Wanna Fun
Nicely done.
Another Dance Off announced: Chuck vs. Mark (both from this season)Scores: 9~9~9 for a total of 27 for the dance, 78 for the night.
That was fun.Dancing beyond the bunions. OUCH!
Turn the tub around for I can't believe it's not butter.Egad, I know some people on Idol say nasally is a legit singing style, but that was sinusy.
But, Megan Mullally is an icon a legend...I tried, sorry, that was unfortunate.
They came into this round leading with 58 points.Dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Fire Burning on the Dance Floor?
LIFT! Mya's feet left the stage while they were both still on it.....
"Fire Burning"I think I finally spotted Mya's personality, but those green fringed booty shorts are tragic.
shorts = quelle tragique
Scores: 9~10~10 for a total of 29 for the dance, 87 for the night and way in the lead for the Judges Leaderboard.
tonight was "salsa caliente"!
Bruno is getting on my nerves. He needs to calm down. And Carrie Ann was annoying too. I wonder why we can't have more guest judges next season.
