Problem with Vegas judges is due to the beting i feel alot are corrupt and go with the underdog in fights to get the big doe.

I want you guys to notice something 1 judge gave every round to Sergio. Now if any of you are actual boxing fans you would admit that sergio didnt win every single round even sly and sugar said that. Now read up where I said the Judges are corrupt in vegas due to big fights and big money sergio was the underdog tonight although he clearly won. One judge was making sure there was no draw. The judges dont set side by side they set at 3 sides of the ring and I do believe this is one of those corrupt judges.

LAST EDITED ON 05-24-05 AT 10:00 PM (EST)I watched the Shane Mosely OscarDe La Hoya fight a cpl years ago where De la hoya clearly won the fight and the judges gave it to Mosely (underdog). Even the announcers were like this is a sad sad sad day in boxing.
Oh yah guess where teh fight took place?

i think your totally wrong.
Sergio clearly, clearly, won that fight, no question.
just because you wanted, or thought peter was going to win doesnt mean the fight was corrupt. A case can be made that sergio won each round, he had a tendancy to steal rounds at the ends of fights. also, 4 of those rounds were relativly close, and in many close rounds, the judges look at who threw and landed more punches. This was clearly sergio. He won the fight, i thought it was 6 rounds to 1.
"RE: Round 4"
Posted by volsfan on 05-24-05 at 10:24 PM
I don't think the poster is saying that Sergio shouldn't have won the fight. I too find it hard to believe that any judge would have given Sergio EVERY round! As you say...there were 4 rounds that could have gone either way.Boxing has been corrupt for years and some were hoping this show would bring some good to the sport. But when you watch the fight we had tonight and see that one judge gave every round to a boxer...it makes think something! Doesn't it?
I thought Peter won the first round easily and possibly the second round. Sergio came on strong in round 3. JMHO!

Seeing that every single one of the ring side commentators scored some rounds for peter shows iam right. This goes to show there are ppl who know boxing and ppl who dont. I can name atleast 10 fights that were even investigated by the F.B.I. I stated that sergio clearly won but one judge scored him winning every round. So before you go spouting like a fanboi go review the FACTS.

This is how I saw it, I am in no way a judge or anything, this is just my opinion and what I saw.1st Round- Manfredo
2nd Round- Manfredo
3rd Round- I couldnt tell
4th Round- Sergio
5th Round- I coudlnt tell
6th Round- Sergio
7th Round- Sergio
I think that Sergio clearly won the fight. But I dont see where he won every round. JMO! : )

I don't think we have to worry about corruption due to one fighter being an underdog, because there wasn't a clear cut underdog. I know on TV they were saying Mora was the underdog, but I was in Vegas for the fights and placed money on Mora at the Palms...where he was the favorite.

I give that one honestly to Sergio...he won fair and square....however, now I don't like him even worse. Way too much show off...no respect. Peter ran out of fuel. nothing left for the last 2 rounds. Why didn't they give Jesse and Alfonzo 7 rounds?
"RE: East Coast Spoiler Thread for the final fight"
Posted by volsfan on 05-24-05 at 10:41 PM
I found many of the boxers to be really into themselves but I think that is part of the sport. I agree that Sergio won the fight.
I was wondering why they didn't get 7 rounds too.

LAST EDITED ON 05-24-05 AT 10:46 PM (EST)You'll notice that he is the only fighter that seems to have the mental edge over the others and that is a huge part of boxing. I agree that it can make you want to see him go down though.
He redeemed himself somewhat by apologizing to Peter's father and said 'that was the snake talking, not Sergio Mora'.
I liked him otherwise during the show.

"My take on the final bout"
Posted by PhoenixMons on 05-24-05 at 11:24 PM
Round 1: Sergio
Round 2: Sergio
Round 3: Peter
Round 4: Sergio (this is the only other round that Peter could have possibly won, IMO)
Round 5: Sergio
Round 6: Sergio
Round 7: SergioI thought the judges would call it 68-65, 69-63, 69-63 (I thought one judge would give round four to Peter). I disagree with giving all seven rounds to Sergio, but I thought the entire fight was very much in Sergio's control...he had Peter slouched over and looking sluggish way more than half of the fight. Peter looked ineffective the entire time...no matter what he did, Sergio came right back at him with more. Sergio beat Peter soundly. Sergio was by far the more aggressive fighter and I suppose given that, I can somewhat see how the last judge could have given Sergio all seven rounds (even though I don't agree).
I like Sergio - after Ishe, he and Alfonso were my favorites on the show (both for their fighting styles and their 'character'). I like Sergio's trash-talking. Trash-talking is part of boxing. There are good ways and bad ways to go about it, IMO. I think Sergio's trash-talking is not meant to belittle his opponent as much as it is meant to empower him. Sergio's biggest advantage throughout this show was that he was a smart fighter. He learned how to use his opponents weaknesses against them. I don't think he's got as much raw talent as Ishe or Peter (he sure is fast though and he showed some serious stamina tonight), but he's got an edge when it comes to the mental aspect of the game. Dh and I watched the final bout together and asked if I thought there'd be a KO. I said no, it'll be a decision for Sergio. While I picked Sergio prior to the fight, I said if there was to be a KO, it would be by Peter because Sergio would get tired with all of his movement/thrown punches and is not as powerful as Peter. Sergio surprised me a great deal with how long he was able to sustain himself without looking tired much at all. And he really did look like he could have gone another 7 rounds after the fight...impressive.
Back to the taunting thing though...I do like his taunting (missed the part where he said something to Peter's corner for some reason) - you can tell that part of his energy comes from the crowd. He was starting to look a little fatigued in the fourth round but when the crowd started cheering "Sergio", he got a surge of energy. That's how he fights. And there is a big difference between his style of taunting and evil Anthony's style of 'taunting' (AKA beating the crap out of Brent and then boasting like it was some huge feat to knock the crap out of the likes of Brent)...
And of course, I am thrilled that Ishe won his fight (as if he wasn't going to win no matter who he fought). I am thrilled that Anthony looked like a fool on national TV yet again (wtf was that wrestling move he threw in there? Maybe he should look into the UFC?) What a loser.

Got blog?

LAST EDITED ON 05-25-05 AT 00:24 AM (EST)I saw Peter Manfredo Jr. win every round but the 4th and 7th. You dont win a round in the last 30 seconds. and for one judge to have all rounds for Mora....what a joke. Also the announcers were announcing the winner before the score cards were even in. Of all things I thought the contender would bring about justice to boxing but to see a man and his wife and child robbed on national tv was another bad mark on boxing. Sergio fought in short burst through out the fight but Manfredo fought every second of every round. Yes he did get tagged in the 7th but never went down 10-9 round for Mora. Who was scoring the fight the announcers? Alot of Mora's punches were pitty-pat shots barely landing till the 7th. Still only one round. I'm an avid boxing fan and thought the show was GREAT but to see the finale SUCKED. Watch it again and again and you'll see Sergio jump in with one meaningful shot a round and Manfredo clearly winning everything else. I'm just so disgusted with the result to see Peter Manfredo, holding his daughter, get robbed so bad. Get real judges next time and announcers who know boxing, even Alfonso Gomez was trying to tell the announcer that Sergio was only looking for one punch at a time which usually means the other guy is out working him. GO FIGURE.

What you really need to do is stop filing your nails as you try to judge a boxing match. Leaning in "ALL NIGHT" and tying up, and not being able to hit or at least hitting once and receiving four back is "NOT" dominating a fight. Peter on several occasions was dead on his feet, while Sergio looked like he could dance the Samba. You must be a friend of the family or from the East Coast. With those body shots Peter was receiving and grunting from all night, I'm very surprise he didn't go down. For that, Peter did show he deserved to be there. But about him "Winning The Fight", PLEASE!!! And I guess you think O.J. is innocent.

wrong, mora landed more punches that manfredo, and more combinations, you let your bias get in the way.

i 100% agree with this post. Sergio beat Peter, outboxed him and outsmarted him. I love how he shakes his head when he gets hit, it's such a mental game for him.
"RE: My take on the final bout"

I absolutly agree with how you called that bout. In round four, unless im mistaken was the round that sergio was dominating, started talking trash, got hit with a few good shots, and then went back to dominating.ive noticed alot of people are saying that sergio was "stealing" rounds. I would say that neither fighter was winning those patricluar rounds, and beacuse sergio hit some good combinations at the end and connected with more punches, the round was given to him.
another interesting thought: the boxer who is most known for stealing rounds at the beginning and end of rounds: no other than Sugar Ray Leonard
