Don't look in this thread, east coast people are posting spoilers! Beware!!! This should actually be a good fight. Alfonzo won't go down (unless he gets caught with a solid chin uppercut) and has a heart of a true fighter! Jesse, a little more experienced may have to plan an early weaking of Alfonzo's defense or else Alfonzo could win by points. What I am going to look for is Jesse really having to come up big with something or Alfonzo takes it by points.

I pick Jesse but not by him dominating it, but by him landing the ones that will count. I figure if Jesse can cause Alfonzo to stagger a few times, it will make up for Alfonzo being ahead by points. I think both are class A fighters. Jesse, however, with a few more weaknesses than Alfonzo, needs someting big tonight. He needs to put Alfonzo on the mat or aleast stagger him a few times.

You know, now that I think of it, they weren't advertising the Jesse and Alfonzo fight during commercials. I wonder if it will only be available on yahoo? Maybe NBC won't cut in until Peter and Sergio fights?

I'm glad you posted this, because I at first thought everyone had seen it streamed, and nearly posted a spoiler. But I now recall that the announcer this morning said that the Gomez-Brinkley fight will indeed be shown during the finale. I think in its entirety, although I'm not sure.

They just said they'll be showing this fight during the episode that is now airing on the East Coast.

I agree, this should be a great fight. Actually, both fights should be good! I bet neither one will feature WWE moves!

I don't know? I guess we can chat here, at least about the first fight, then maybe make a final bout thread? I don't know. This afternoon people seemed to want a separate thread for each match up.

I asked in my above post if I should start a spoiler thread. Also, Master already posted the judges totals.

I didn't want to start a new thread just for the sake of starting a thread. This place has been crazy today anyways. Maybe I will just wait until the last fight starts and begin a thread for that fight.

Hopefully, west and central people won't come on until after the fight. When I posted this thread, i was assuming east coast wouldnt post results. It doesn't matter to me anyway. It's coming on in 10 minutes here.

Yeah... I believe that Ishe should be in finale! since they wont give any scoreboard at boxrec.com

they said part of the contenders.. so i thought the show wanted to keep rating high.. drama... ishe lose!

I wish ishe fight with peter in finale, it should be awesome to watch them fight since they are HARD-PUNCH! than others!

THIS is utter most BS. Jesse was on his way to knocking Alfonzo out man. Now I really hate these 5 round bouts. Alfonzo was hurt bad in the last seconds.

id definitly agree, but during most of the rounds, jesse looked sluggish, and wasnt agressive enough to land hard punches. I think ishe should be in the finals, but not against peter, a better fight would be a rematch against sergio

I know Alfonzo had him beat on the score cards, just barely anyway. But the fight didn't even get going until the 5th round and Jesse was just starting to work up a sweat and clearing his mind. I've noticed that Mora and Gomez tried to score points early on and then dodged Jesse as best as they could during the last 30 seconds of the fight. That's when Jesse hurt Gomez and would have certainly had an impressive 6th round no doubt. The "5 round bout" hurt Jesse Brinkleys record. I emailed Jesse and suggested not to do anymore 5 round bouts (2 losses) He starts getting good in the 5th round when the opponent starts taking that breather.

I say rematch for Jesse and Alfonzo going 7 or 10 rounds this time!

I think Jesse got totally hosed. I just watched the fight on yahoo and I really think Jesse was the clearer, crisper puncher. Alot of Fonso's punches looked good, but Jesse was catching them in the gloves or on the arms, NON-SCORING shots.
I think people were suprised by Alfonso beating Peter in his first fight, and from then on gave him the benefit of the doubt in semi close fights.
The filming didn't help either, and it was that way for any fight. If Jess was active, they would show his GF jumping and screaming for him. When he hung back a little bit, even if Alfonso wasn't landing punches, they'd show his GF with a really concerned look on her face.
Anytime a big looping punch was thrown by anyone the whole crown would jump to their feet, making it seem like there really was something going on.
I love boxing, and The Contender was entertaining, but it wasn't true to life boxing.
BTW - Alfonso almost got KTFO in the last couple seconds of the fight...49-46, 48-47, I think not.....

I totally agree. I also think that the Bronze fight was the best fight of the whole day. Alfonso and Jesse were actually fighting, not just "hugging" the whole fight. Jesse was definitely in the process of starting the KO in the last five seconds or so of round five. If they would have only been going 7 rounds! Hell, one more minute of Jesse's wrath and I think Alfonso would have been on his back...
