"Episode 2"

Well, I am having to tape it because it is showing at 2:00am. Has anyone watched or was it pre-empted everywhere?

I watched it. But the pre-empted thing. Pre-empted? Did something happen? Something BIG? Like Canadian Mounties storming the White House and ousting W?

There was an hour long telethon raising money for Jerry's Kids.

How disappointing that my Canadian Mounties scenario was wrong. Do you want a spoiler? Or Two? Or meet me in the bar and I'll spill the kibble.

I watched! I missed Episode One but I ran into someone the other day who told me that she used to work with Mitch so I had to watch tonight. Now I'm hooked.

The teams chose between red and white, large and small, and French Indoor and American Outdoor. The Eager Beavers got to throw an American Outdoor party (with synchronized swimmers), use the large kitchen, and serve red wine. The Artisans got to throw a French Indoor party (with annoying mimes), use the small kitchen, and serve white wine.

The Artisans planned to serve lobster tail, which fell apart and looked awful (cooked by Michelle). They also served lamb, which was undercooked and the judges labeled it inedible (cooked by the girl who survived the vote last week). They had killer desserts (Michelle), but warm bubbly.

The Eager Beavers had a beautiful tablescape made of a tablecloth with leaves glued on it, and grass centerpieces (designed by Mitch, but with a lot of fighting with Denise? the girl who won the car last week). Mychaela made a beef dish with succotash that won rave reviews. Another girl claimed that she was just as good a cook as Mychaela, but her dessert bombed and was labeled inedible.

Eager Beavers win again. Michelle, who makes truffles in a tall box, and Dawn? (short dark hair) who sticks a candle on a badly framed mirror lose the individual competition. Michelle is voted out 2 to 1.

Next week they have a competition with camping: who can make it more luxurious with accommodations and food.

Sorry, vols, I went to the bar and got talking and never got back until now. The only thing I can add is that the Artisans ran out of hors d'ouerves before Bobby Flay got there, Candice didn't like Mitch's deviled egg appetizers cuz they were too big for her mouth (hard to believe, but that's what she said) and the Crafty Beavers were all in the kitchen while the guests/judges sat down to eat. Michelle hid 5 pounds of flour from the Home Shopping Diva who wanted to rescue the chewy lobster by making a rue and Michelle is gone. Tonight's lesson, don't screw up dinner and a Home Shopping Diva all in one day. The diva-ometer went through the roof on both teams again and finally, bickering between Mitch and Denise broke the darn thing and we'll have to replace it before next week.

What was up with that?

She wanted the Ornate Seamstress to get the hell out of her kitchen.

I ADORED the synchronized swimmers! Not a one of them was born before the summer of 42. And they wore these tap shoes while they swam!

I also really like the floral stylings of whatshisname on the Crafty Beavers -- hey, you people who watched Ep. One - WTF did they choose that name? -- even though he's a petulant queen.

Mind you, some of my best friends are petulant queens. But I digress.

roux the day!

I thought I was seeing things when those swimmers had footwear. Thank you for confirming that, ginger!

I'm sorry I can't help you with the Crafty Beavs' name. I missed the first show.

Crafty Beaver was (is?) a hardware store, I believe. When I heard it, I thought they were a sponsor or something. Kinda lame name.

When you all get to your tapes/tivo recordings, I want you to know that lamb should be served rare.

And what is up with "Candace BushNELL" - emphasis on the last syllable? She was plain ole Candace BUSHnell til this show aired.

Also, what exactly is an "ornate seamstress"? Is it the sewing that's ornate, or the woman herself?

I'm not exactly sure why being a writer makes her a good judge for this show either. Isnt her only claim to fame the "Sex in the City" book
