The show has a cool hook, but WTF is this show about? Is it even a reality TV show?
Edited to add, I read in one of the preview articles that Carmen Electra was going to be "ginger". Obviously Rachel Hunter is "ginger". Big woop. Is Rachel Ward 6'6" tall or is everone else on this show a midget (see group shot)? Can't say for sure but the 'lovey' character could be CE. Not that I really care at this point.
Edited again to add: Ginger or Maryanne? I'm sticking with Maryanne.

I posted this on another site for those who care, but I think I figured out the millioniare and his wife:Check this site out:

The age, occupation, and where they live all match.
How I figured this out? Dont ask! I just troll all these boards, and finally decided to post something worthwhile for once.

If this is really them, it sounds like they are going to be quite insufferable. I just hope that unlike on the sitcom, the millionaire, his wife, and Ginger are all forced to do their share of the work on the island -- that alone would be good for some Outback Jack-like laughs

yes, insufferable, would seem to describe them well.

Actually it was her mother Jan on Amazon and she was accused of sneaking in food in her daughters Teddy Bear - Our MaryAnn

AAhhhhhhhhhhheeemMMM!Ginger should NOT be a blonde.
Although I admit there is an uncanny resemblance between Ms. Hunter and myself, other than the hair.

(blink)Oh, gawds. Summary hell. Green and Gold? I wanted to do the names of the characters throughout, and now my choices are either real names or Gilligan Gr vs. Gilligan Gl? HTML color tagging every cast member? Shooting one tribe in cold blood because there can be only one? I hope no one remembers I originally wanted to do this series.
(That was kind of counterproductive, wasn't it?)

My research indicates Rachel Hunter is 35ish, she looks older in that photo. Have a nice day Rachel. As said previously, the Gingers should have red hair. At least they could have colored their hair. The MaryAnnes and Skippers where probably easy to cast. The ones they picked look very believable.
The Millionaries and their wifes are too young. The wifes look younger than Rachel Hunter, but then who doesn't. The two million dollar net worth of the one couple doens't really compare with the implied wealth of the couple on the original series.
A 6'7" Gilligan? That is the best you could do for the skipper's 'little buddy'?
The younger Professor looks the part, but a Sociology Professor? Not! The original professor was a Professor of real science, not sociology. The other professor is just too old. But maybe they will pair the older professor up with Rachel Hunter, that would be a good match.

I still don't really understand this show. I guess I will have to tune into the first ep just to see what is going on.

TBS is still intentionally keeping everything pretty vague but it sounds increasingly like it's going to a Survivor ripoff with two groups who are standed on the island competing against each other in weekly challenges and then merging once half the contestants are eliminated.

Have we started a list of those interested?
I know there were a few mentions on the fall summary thread.
I am still interested

I think the silence means you just volunteered for the premiere.
(In case you ever wondered what the sound of everyone else taking one step back was like.)
"The Gay Professor!"
Posted by volsfan on 11-27-04 at 09:58 PM
The young professor is gay (Eric). The Advocate is a gay "news" magazine (best words I know to describe) and from the article it can be summarized that Eric is gay. Might be interesting how that turns out!

Yeah, when I read that, I was rolling! This will prove to be a very interesting show, I can't wait!
Crafted in the spirit of Christmas & Friendship by Mon Cherie!
I wonder if they have it on their site...*runf off to look*

I remember seeing the "advocate" reference in his bio, but didn't know what that meant. I don't have anything against gay people. But, casting a gay Professor is just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong... wrong!. That's almost as bad as his being a 'psychology professor'.

Actually, in the gay community and from others that I have talked to about it, there have always been the question if the professor was gay. He never made any advances to Mary Ann or Ginger. He was always a book nerd.

looks like George Cloney, but I think GC would have been 15 years during the series. Frankie Avalon?

John Gabriel. He played the Professor in the pilot episode.

For reasons I will never know, nor care to know, some members of the 'gay community' feel compelled to project their sexuality upon fictious TV characters. Such fantasies don't deserve a serious responce, but I will provide one anyway. Both Ginger and MaryAnne used to successfully flirt with the Professor in order to influnce him. Flirting was the only skill Ginger and MaryAnne had, for him to agressivelly pursue either Ginger or MaryAnne would have forced a showdown and tilted the balance of power on the island. In order to mainatain the storyline the Professor had to act frustrated and/or indifferent. The same is true with the Skipper and Gilligan, but since the Skipper was not considered a realistic suitor for either Ginger or MaryAnne, the Skipper was free to act like a dirty old man occasionally. ps: the Professor clearly suffered from Aspergers Syndrome (j/k)

I think you are doing the same thing the gay community is doing! You are trying to "prove" his heterosexuality!I think the point that they have casted one of the professors as a gay male points to the fact that the gay community wasn't the only one that picked up on the idea that he may have been gay!
Personally? I could care less if he is straight or gay. I just find it very very interesting that they casted a gay guy for this part. Makes you wonder!
"The Lost Gilligan's Cast"
Posted by dabo on 11-28-04 at 04:51 PM
In case it ever comes up in Trivial Pursuit, imagine the show with the following:Jerry Van Dyke as Willy Gilligan (turned down the part)
Carroll O'Conner as Skipper Jonas Grumby (tested for the part)
Dabney Coleman as Professor Roy Hinkey (tested for the part)
Jayne Mansfield as Ginger "Bunny" Grant (turned down the part)
Racquel Welch as Mary Ann Summers (auditioned for the part)
Eunice "Lovey" Howell was that character's full name.
After the series started airing they decided Gilligan was the character's first name, his surname was never revealed.

"About the Gingers"
Posted by Bebo on 11-30-04 at 09:26 AM
According to EOnline, they have a boyfriend in common that Rachel stole from Nicole, so there's bad blood between these peeps. Not sure whether it's going to end up on the editing room floor or whether they'll get into the backstory.
You know the difference between you and me? I make this look good.
"RE: Mindy Stearn"
Posted by RangeRover on 12-01-04 at 01:33 AM
I could not believe my eyes...Mindy was a dental hygenist I believe from Portland whose big break came on of all things OPRAH.
She was in the audience for some clothing giveaway and she did a chicken call for the item then somehow parlayed that into a reporting gig for a Portland station. Then ET in some misguided attempt at fixing their show hired her for a minute. Now she is married to this "millionaire" WTF?

She is also the coach(p. e. teacher) on the Princess Diaries which is on tonight on the Disney Channel. I knew I'd seen that face before.
"Mary Ann- Kate Koth"

is the daughter of Janet Koth from Survivor Amazon.
Have there been other reality-show offspring on other shows?
