a publicity stunt is the challenge.marry erica? this is absurd. i think erica should have some dignity and pride and decide that marrying a stranger is completely ridiculous.
i'm completely with candida on this one. candida, when you come here to check in, i just want you to know that i am completely on your side. erica is not a business. and you shouldn't be selling her off. gawd. thank goodness *someone* is the voice of reason. however, it's early in the episode, so i don't have much faith that you managed to talk the dimwits out of this plan.
guess we'll find out.

the girls found the guys' ad on the site so they know what they are planning to do.this is hilarious.
i don't quite get what the dudes are planning. some jews vs arabs soccer match? seems like they are completely going out for being weirdly offensive. i'm confused.
someone explain.

LAST EDITED ON 12-07-04 AT 08:22 PM (EST)I think the women's idea is absolutely the dumbest idea ever! However, in London...the guys and the soccer match is a great idea. IMHO! If they can pull it off!
ETA: The women had more press but I still think their idea is just plain dumb!

Why didn't the guys make a bigger deal of it? I would have been throwing flyers all over the place! The women have loads of press!

LAST EDITED ON 12-07-04 AT 08:39 PM (EST)If any press HAD checked out that debacle, they would have turned around and left as soon as they saw the 6 people playing, crowd consisting of one wet dog and collapsible goals. Even if it was a good idea, it was very poorly executed.

I agree totally! I think they had a good idea but was almost impossible to complete in 36 hours. There was no way they were gonna get a celebrity in that short time span or it would have just been luck!

This was a personal preference choice, nothing else. Then again - it's HIS company. I guess that's a fair criteria.

Our family is still hanging in there....We enjoy the show!
Still wondering why he repelled down the building, but didn't streak!!!
Talk about a publicity stunt for his show!

I am also still watching but I thought I might have misunderstood the premise.Promote a company - and the company was the model? That confused me and then marry her off to a man of their choice? I am sorry while they got the press it was just bizzare and made no sense. What exactly are they promoting? The fact that this company can marry someone off the street? Okay.......
As for the boys soccer "peace on earth goodwill towards men" seemed a little too sanctimonious for my taste. Trusting an internet cafe owner to assemble your team? And the company being promoted was Lovesac? How were exactly they being promoted? As the sponsor? Yes I could see an unknown company to the English promoting an absurd soccer match as a real attention grabber....
However that blonde moron is still in. Richard has to be keeping Boogie Jr for some reason one that totally eludes me but over iron jaw, it made some sense. He reminded me a tad too much of an Apprentice reject. Something screams "I tried to get on the Apprentice but this will do" about him.
Right now I am more impressed with the women as they managed to jump hurdles and still work together. Frankly Candida's assessment was right on but they won so ends justify means perhaps.

Even though I thought their idea was pretty dumb--all publicity is good publicity so the girls team legitimately whupped the boys.A soccer match in the name of peace & love sounds good, but Lovesac? I totally got the giggles picturing hairy, sweaty futball players canoodling in the Lovesac. Also giggled when it wound up being the Arabs and the Jews vs. the Americans.
And Steve thought he was going to get George W. Bush to be his celebrity guest? Seriously delusional!!!
The guys are dropping like flies. Nikki and Erica need to go next.

"And Steve thought he was going to get George W. Bush to be his celebrity guest? Seriously delusional!!!"But wouldn't it have been funny if the "leader" of the free world showed up to that ragtag rinkydink soccer match?!
a sig by syrenAnd what kind of message would it have sent with him watching a soccer game between Americans and a combined force of Arabs and Jews?!

So the idea was to get "publicity"? Okay. that seemed well a bit vague but I get the idea. The boys soccer match actually in the case of legitmate ideas worked but they had no time and should have realized that something of that "magnitude" takes time. Its up there with Band-Aid and We are the World.
Why could they have not used the legitimate Virgin companies and draw attention that way... free concert or free phones/trips/etc? This competition just reeked.

The guys had a pretty solid idea, they had the teams, they didn't have the media. The girls had a lame idea, however they had media, but almost no groom.
Both lacked in solidifying the concept and marketing it but pretty hard to do in 36 hours.

Since recycling reality stars seems to be more and more common, it's too bad that the star of "The Littlest Groom" was not available...

I still can't stand Steve. I wanted Shawn to drag him along to the elimination. But no such luck. He brought along that guy who I have already forgotten. And now he is gone and we still have Steve.

I don't find any of them particularly interesting. They are all just blah. I don't have a favorite to win - and I don't have a favorite to hate. As the weeks go by, I find myself saying snooze to this show more and more.

I will watch this show all the way through its run. Though I hope that it doesn't lose any more steam. The stunts at the beginning of the show grabbed me and screamed "don't leave the room, don't miss a second!". The stunt that had them on top of airplanes flying upside down and the stunt that had them jumping, falling hundreds of feet and then swinging over jagged rocks gave me chills. But last week's Sing or Streak stunt really didn't impress me at all.

I guess it all depends on what your phobias happen to be. All of that stuff so far looks cool to me. But I would never do any stunt that involved snakes!

I really like this show... much better than the Apprentice or possibly even Amazing Race IMHO. I might look here more now that Survivor is done for now.
