"Episode 5: 10/31/2004"

Posted by volsfan on 10-31-04 at 09:18 PM
My online TV Guide has this preview:

Bree touches upon a young family mess after reaching out to Mary Alice's son; a break-in on Wisteria Lane exposes Mike's motives for moving to town.

Well, I guess someone breaks into Mike's house. I can't wait to find out who he is tracking down and a reason!

Actually vols, it would seem that Mike breaks into someone's house, not the other way around. And I haven't heard the the reason explained yet. *sigh* Maybe next week?

And each episode just brings more questions.

Why would Mike's prints be on record?

Who is the real force in MaryAlice's house - it surprised me that it was the dad who got hit. What is the kid really capable of. Breaking in and doing that Christmas thing was really pretty creepy.

YIKES! The mother-in-law and her knitting needles! What happened to her husbanb - I can make a good guess. I can totally see her in a Tale of Two Cities, knitting and watching the heads roll.

Gabriel and her boytoy - who really needs who? He seems a little more willing just now to call it off if he can't get what he wants.

My favourite line from last night was Susan on the corner "No, I'm on my break".

Mike's prints being on record is confusing me. I thought he might be in a witness protection program but now I don't think so.

Mary Alice's son is really creepy. I think he may have killed a sibling and his parents were covering it up!

I don't have anything to add about your comments on the boy toy. I just like typing boy toy and thought I would type it here! LOL!

Vols...I think mike is a thief/burgular straight out and maybe have been caught before....so that is why he is in the system...but it would be interesting to find out who the guy is that he was talking to...I think they are looking for info to blackmail people....because these people would raher pay than have their dirty laundry aired....

I think Mike's fingerprints are in the system because he's in law enforcement (local or federal?). He's likely investigating the murder of the person that was dug up from under the swimming pool and dumped in the river.

LAst night's episode was just as intriguing as all the others.....a few things were cleared up ...well not really....We now know without a doubt that Mike is a burgular....and he was wetting his pants lastnight.....anyway, it worked out for him in the end and I still love him.....

Now unto the son...Zach.. that is....My theory and you must realize by now I like thoeries....

Nice suburban couple with kids (2) living somewhere....find out that one kid(zach) has a anger or violience problem....Kid(zach) then somehow kills his sibling....so not wanting people to find out the pack up body and all, change name and move to wisteria lane as the nice couple and child(zach) and they build a pool at this new home and bury the box with other kid under the pool...end of story..live happily ever after.......with just one minor problem...someone knows about their little or not so little problem....sends a note to the wife and she kills herself...now husband has to now not only deal with a problem child but also a distraught child...I think a that's a terrible combination.....hence the reason pops got a bloody nose....and kid get shipped off to god he knows where....

so Mike is looking to get the dirt on someone or many someones on wisteria lane...but he thinks they are all nice...because on the surface they are....but will he break into paul and zach's house while they are out and find the dirt he is looking for...well we willl just have to wait and see...

what are your theories???

Nice theories sisyphus, however, if a sibling was done in by Zach and his parents chose to protect him, no mother would leave him behind as did Mary Alice. If she had covered for him up to now, just an annoymous threat would not be enough (in my theory, anyway) to make her kill herself and leave his behind.

Mike seems to me to be a good or bad choice. Either a good guy (ex-law enforcement with prints on record) or a criminal. Either way, the guy in the park seems to be his employer/boss since he didn't argue with his orders that he stay in Wisteria Lane until/unless his cover was actually blown. He seems to be looking for proof someone is not whom they seem - which looks to be everyone except Susan some episodes.

The stress of guilt and being found out could make protecting her son seem less important...plus he has his father....

If you think someone is not who they appear to be....then you would have an idea who that person is....and would not randomly break into peoples house to find dirt on them....this woman, whose house he broke into was not even a peripheral character but one just brought in for the purpose of revealing that mike is the burgular

plus he has his father....
If you want to call what we are seeing being a father. Bree had it right when she observed last night that none of them really know if all that fighting was going on when Mary Alice was alive, and it's just more noticable now.

you would have an idea who that person is....
Not if he is only looking for someone who is living on Wisteria. He may know only that the person is living there and pretending to fit in. It could be anyone, male or female, and it would make sense that he might try breakins to see if there is something in a house that would indicate the owner's true nature.

Of course, time will likely show we are both so completely off base with all our theories. AND that is what is making this show good - I don't know when they are just yelling "Look - a distraction!" or if they are giving me a real clue.

"We now know without a doubt that Mike is a burgular..."

I don't think we know for sure that Mike is a burglar, he didn't take anything did he? I think you are right though that he is looking for dirt on someone. I read somewhere that he is connected to MA's death.(In Touch or Us Weekly)

To go along with this....

Maybe Mike is trying to find out why MA shot herself. He did get into town right after she died.

You may be right, but for some reason I don't think he is on the right side of the law....why then was he so antsy and ready to get out of wisteria lane....I think it is being found out by the cops rather than being found out by the peeps on wistera lane

I agree with you about him not being on the "right" side of the law. It's only a guess, but he did seem scared of getting caught by the cops.

Maybe Mike wrote the letter? Maybe Mike used to live near/close to Mary Alice and the family years ago and he knew there were suppose to be two kids! Just a thought!

Oooohhh! I like that idea! My only question would be why hasn't the father hightailed it outa there if he knew Mike from before and could potentially be exposed? Hmmm....

Well, what time frame are we thinking the murder took place? I was thinking that Mike could have altered his looks OR maybe he just knew them or knew about them and have never really met them?

Vols...I really don't think mike sent the note....I used to think it was Mrs Uber but now I think it might be a stranger....mike, may have something to do with it maybe indirectly....

On another note I heard on the radio this morning that one of the main character will either die or be killed sometime this month....

I heard one of the housewives will soon die though I know it won't be any of the main 4.

I also liked last night's episode a lot. Although it did leave us with a lot of questions.

Yes, we do know that Mike is the one who broke into the house, but that doesn't mean he is a burglar. Actually since nothing was broken it seems he was just investigating the women's house while she was away on vacation.

His meeting seems to confirm the notion that he is perhaps working undercover for the police, fbi, etc..........since he said all of the people in the neighborhood seem nice........(not like the shady characters he is usually investigating?) and the other gentleman said someone in the neighborhood is a bad seed so continue the search until your cover is blown.

I also like the questions surrounding Zach and his dad. Which one of them is the bad guy? Or are neither of them "bad people"? It will be interesting to see if they come back from their "trip".....or if we'll be shown where they go.....

Looking forward to seeing more of this season. Am really enjoying this show!

Interesting theories guys! I never even thought of them regarding Zach and Mary Alice.

What struck me first actually is when Bree's hubby said "she owns several guns and was a member of the NRA and could probably protect him better than he protect her." My first thought was that she gave Mary Alice the gun or someone in the family at some point. Maybe she sensed her family drifting away from her and she is manipulating Mary Alice's family. She can do everything for them now that she used to do for her family. Didn't her story about her mother sound a little too contrived? Especially about the blood on the street and how hard it was to get out? I mean she had already seen Zach scrubbing his floor to get the blood out earlier.

You I think that was not true story but one to show empathy(sp) for zach's situation....on the other hand I don't think bree forsaw her husband leaving her for her to do that

I'm not sure. At the same time, when she was talking about her mother's death, I could almost see a young girl left at home and overlooked, watching the blood until she had to do something about it - it seems like something that would have affected her deeply and could explain a lot about her need to control and have everything perfect.

I agree. I think that has a lot to do with who she is now and her focus on everything being so perfect.

And I too think Mike will end up being a "good" guy.
