You are right Beav in that Mike is working for Deidre's dad to find her. Mike had some type of relationship with her and we don't know what it was. Also, we do not know the connection between Paul and Deidre.Hope that helps!

Diedra's(sp) dad paid off a cop for the police file and when Mike picked it up from him he beat him up.(not sure why other than just not liking Mike based on his police records)

You hit it MM. I took it that the person Mike murdered was a policeman/woman. The guy called him a police killer. He (the policeman) was taking his anger out on Mike about the murder.
I hate missing even a little bit of this show...

This detective is the one who the old guy hired to squash the thought of Mike as suspect in the murder Paul committed, after they found the jewlry in Mike's garage. The detective kept baiting Mike about having to deal with an ex drug dealer, and Mike replied that he had served his time. The detective kept harping on "What has the justice system come to" that he had to deal with Mike. Having enough, Mike got in his face and asked what the going rate was for a homicide detective. There was an implied threat in the words that Mike had knowledge on him. That was why, after he beat him, he threw down the file and told Mike it had been "misplaced" and no one had better, ever, hear otherwise.
I think the detective looking for Dana that Paul talked about is the reason for the body in the box. She was the detective. Wasn't she Mike's ex wife or girlfriend?
I thought when the creepy cop called Mike a "cop killer" that maybe he was referring to Deirdre. Was she a cop? And if so, did Mike serve time for killing her (thus labelling him a cop killer) and has now made it his goal to hunt down the real killer(s) to clear his name?
No one knew Diedre was dead for the past 15 years. She just disappeared and only Paul for sure knew she was in a toy chest. Could there have been a death in whatever drug deal he was involved in? If that damn Susan had opened the letter we would know.
And I REALLY do not like the character of her mother.
I hate that I missed the show last week but all this talk of diedra and her being missing 15 years. I know I'm no spring chicken at 35 but do any of these people really seem THAT old to have killed this woman when they were what 18-20 yr's old. Seems like a lot would have had to happen to this woman in a short span for her to have been killed so young.

so if the person mike allegedly killed was a woman, that being deidre, that would explain why paul told zach about the investigator. the investigator was deidre, she knew what paul did regarding zach, and so paul killed her and stuffed her in the chest.it's kind of making some sense now.
Mike didn't kill Deidre...he was searching for the missing woman. Mike killed a cop. We don't know if the cop killing has anything to do with Deidre either.
sorry, i meant paul. if paul killed the investigator, maybe that investigator was deidre.
If Paul is correct and he killed the investigator and put her in the trunk then it was Deidre. I think you are correct here.
that's what i am thinking. because zach said, i thought the investigator was a man (not a direct quote)...now to figure out exactly why...a lot of speculation out there...
this could take forever...this is my first time picking a show apart...although desparate housewives has given us a lot of clues...
