"Ep 14 promo pics and a spoiler"

Ep 14 (if you count the premiere as two episodes as the Lost folks apparently do) promo pics are floating around - time to see what clues we can deduce from these pics.

First let's get to the episode description:

Violence ensues and a mysterious island beast makes a re-appearance when Michael and Locke clash over Walt's upbringing. Meanwhile, Charlie is tempted to read the missing Claire's diary, and Sayid enlists Shannon to help decipher the French woman's map, on "Lost," WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19

Now the pics...

And the spoiler is in regard to someone's death. I was flipping through the channels last night when I came upon a short bit about Lost on E! - they show a few clips of characters (forget who) and then say that one of the most beloved/good characters will shock everyone by killing another character sometime this season. I would think the 'beloved'/good characters in the viewers' eyes would be Charlie, Jack, & Hurley. I'd put Sayid in that group as I know he's got a huge fan base (me included) and he seems to be a good guy, but I don't think him killing anyone would be shocking. I doubt this is in reference to killing Ethan (Charlie or Jack - anyone really I guess) because I don't think that would be much of a surprise. And apparently Kristen from E! also said that one main character and one secondary character would die/be killed this season - also there was an article in which one of the creators (Lindelof I believe) said something about one of the main characters going off into the jungle with a secondary character and we all expect the secondary character to die, but it's the main character who dies. Seems to me that if a secondary character is killing a main character, this main character would be responsible for the death of a secondary character and not a main character. I don't think it would be Ethan because that wouldn't (I don't think) be a shock at all. Perhaps a now unseen/unknown secondary character?

Spoil/speculate away my Lost friends...

That pic of Micheal in the wheelchair brings back his days in OZ!

Mons, I don't know how familar you are with Kristen on E! but she is very rarely right in her spoilers. So, take that with a grain of salt. IMHO!

I haven't read the article your talking about with the creator of the show and don't think I have even seen reference to it here. Can you remember where it came from?

The creator of the show was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly and he said that Jack was suppose to be one of the first characters killed within the first couple of episodes. However, they liked casting and are keeping him in the show.

From the article that I read in this week's TV Guide and posted here, I would say there is a very good chance that Jack is the one that kills someone and I don't think it will be an accident.

Didn't we just read somewhere that Jack eluded to his character having a "darker" side or something? (Sorry for lack of memory)
I agree that Jack killing someone is a strong possibilty, probably imo, because someone turns out to be dangerous/bad. I really hope we get to keep Sawyer for a while.

Kristen is crap at spoiling reality shows, but she does a pretty good job of spoiling regular shows. Her Buffy/Angel/24 spoilers were always more or less right on target.

Cool. Even though I watch 24, I didn't know she had any spoilers. I guess it would be easier to have inside info for scripted shows.

If she'd just stick to the non-reality shows, she'd have a terrific reputation as a spoiler. She has excellent contacts and her super-secret spoiler zone is normally right on target.

She's had good intel on other JJ Abrams shows, so I would expect her Lost spoilers to be sound.

You know the difference between you and me? I make this look good.

The article is linked within another thresd here

I guess for the average viewer it would be a surprise if Jack were to kill someone. For me it wouldn't be - both because I know we are to expect him to 'turn bad' (if you will) and because I just always figured there was something about him...I think the most surprising would be Hurley, but though he does have a huge fan base, I think maybe the average viewer would consider either Jack or Charlie as the 'most beloved' while also being 'good'.

What is that white fluffy furry looking mop thing in the right just below center of the last picture (the one with Locke and Michael fighting)? If it is the monster making his reappearnce, it's white and covered with fur? Maybe a Yeti, Sasquatch or Abominable Snowman (to fit in with the polar bear? )

In the 3rd picture where Michael, Walt and (I assume) the mother are sitting on the floor, you can see the electric outlets. Unless things changed in the last 6 years or so, the outlets look different than what I've seen in pictures my Australian friend sent. If this is right, then at least this part of the flashback would be in the US.

I noticed that too, but the odd thing is they are looking past it, into the distance. So whatever it is, it must not be threatening, imo.

"Boom mike"

That's the speculation going around about the fluffy thing. I think that's probably what it is (promo shots aren't always the "finished product" shots - seems a bit silly that they wouldn't crop it out of the pic, but...) - looks like a boom mike to me, anyway. I should ask my sister. A boom mike fell on her eye when she was taping a commercial when she was seven and I am sure she'd know a boom mike when she saw one after that close encounter! Ouch!

"Boone and Locke"

Concerning the E! Spoiler about the character deaths:

When Boone and Locke are tracking through the jungle, Boone (a secondary character) makes reference to Star Trek's tradition of beaming down a few extras as monster fodder, while the main characters always return safely.

At the time, Boone is ripping the red cloth to make tree markers, and calls the Star Trek doomed the red shirt guys or something to that effect.

He then tells Locke (a main character) that he'll take over the tree marking duties.

Was this foreshadowing for the moment when Boone survives and Locke dies?

Does Boone kill Locke?

These reality show contestants need a reality check!

I was wondering the same thing. It is like they are taking different themes and weaving them into the story. I think it was most certainly some foreshadowing of death.
