Lost returns! Lost returns! ...and on my Mom's birthday. How nice.

From the ABC promos, looks like a big storm is a-brewing on our happy little island. Those nasties that we saw doing target practice on not-Penny's boat have made it to land and have Alex as hostage. Guess we'll see if Ben really does love his daughter.

Hidden Text: Possible Sayid\Ben episode again.

I hated that article. It was a bunch of people coming up with stupid theories and the Lost Creators laughing at them....that is it.

The last theory was actually, as DL and CC pointed out, very spot on with last night's episode, generally speaking.

Stoopid effin' ABC scheduled it for 10 Eastern... That's 11 Atlantic! Shouldn't the show about the whiny doctor be in the later time slot?!

This is like perfection TV night for me. I have NBC lineup until 10 then Lost!

I was thinking about the last episode and how disappointed we would have been if that had been the last one until next year. However can you imagine if they did not run that episode and after all that waiting that was the "premiere" one?

It was not a bad episode but still not a jaw dropper.

"Charles Widmore and Ben"
Posted by trigirl on 04-25-08 at 07:11 AM
So Charles really is in charge of not-Penny's boat, but he and Ben have a little more history than he alluded to. hmmmm.

Charles is "from" the Island and cannot die, just as Michael cannot die. Was he Dharma? Some relation to the Hanso's...remember he bought the journal from the Black Rock.

Why can't Ben find Penny? If Desmond can find her eight years in the future, why can't super Ben? Watch out Des, Ben is not your friend.

We know that Ben was in the future (September 2005) but was it a flashforward or did he do a little time travel? We know that he did not take Libby's boat and that he had some groovy new Dharma coat on when he "landed" in Tunisia. Portals perhaps? Portkey, Potter fans?

The smoke monster? Hmmmm...

So Dr. Dead-guy is two places? An effect of the time shift or are we back to the twins and parallel universe thing.

Loved the game of "Risk". What did Sawyer say....Australia is the most important. A clue?

How freakin' great was this show?!?!

Yeah, I loved that Australia remark too!! There was another line that wasn't prophetic but made me laugh out loud- said by Sawyer, but it has been driving me crazy trying to remember it!! Anyone?

RE Ben- if he really travelled the way he said, boat to Fiji then chartered a plane, why on earth would he need a jacket that was more suited to the Antartic than the Sahara Desert? And any clues on what happened to his arm?

"Portal Theory"

I really think there must be some black hole - portal thingy's that Ben is using for time travel. There is obviously one in Tunisia. Polar bear that Charlotte found and Ben have both transported there wearing a Dharma item. I also think there might be one in Siberia. Just a guess. We have had the Siberian scientists at the end of Season 2, we have polar bears, we have Ben in a parka and we have Siberia in play during the game of "Risk". Coincidence?

"RE: Portal Theory"
Posted by zombiebaby on 04-25-08 at 11:05 AM
I think Siberia is the key not Austraila too.

Maybe that is how Dr. Candle or Hallowax lost their arm? Polar bears? Hee.

"RE: Portal Theory"
Posted by moonbaby on 04-26-08 at 11:47 AM
I was also thinking that was how Dr. Candle lost his arm. Ben's arm was bleeding but it wasn't clear if it was a gash or a gunshot wound. Was it the same arm that Candle was missing?

"RE: Charles Widmore and Ben"
Posted by survivorscott on 04-29-08 at 09:02 PM
Australia is the most important

When that was said all I could think of was:

Iocane poison comes from Austraila
and Austraila is completely inhabited by criminals
and criminals can not be trusted
therefore I can not trust you

By the way, wasn't it Hurley who said it, not Sawyer

Good returning episode. Observations and questions:

1. Was it just me, or did the body that washed ashore look like Widmore?

2. Alex's death made me sad. I really liked her character.

3. That smoke monster is just freaky.

4. I wonder if Charles is Ben's constant.

5. Ben obviously made it to the Sahara via whatever time shifting Desmond and Minkowski experienced. Where he had been in that coat is an intriguing question.

6. Jack has a tummy ache. Here's some Pepto.

7. Now we know why Sayid is working with Ben.

8. Ben needs Locke to communicate with Jacob.

9. That's all I've got.

Plus the fact that he was wearing a heavy coat in the desert. Did he intend to go there? Does he need the jacket to travel?

Oh yeah one more thing! What was with that baton? Was that a mind eraser or something?

"HOLY COW!"
Posted by zombiebaby on 04-25-08 at 08:12 AM
1. "Austraila is the key to the whole game" says Hurley! Wasn't Risk shown before?

2. I got a strange vibe between Jack and Ben. First we have Jack holding his back and saying he feels sick. Then in another scene we have Ben playing the piano exactly like Jack did when he stayed at the Other's camp. Then when Ben first arrives in the Sahara he throws up. The gash in his arm...is that where Jack's tatoo is? Does this explain Jack kissing Juliet? I don't think they are the same person but maybe a jumping into a consciousness? I just fgelt that piano scene jumped out way to much to not mean something.

3. Ben was wearing Hallowax's jacket! He was the guy in the Dharma video!

4. Is the ship doctor and Nadia's killer the same guy? Is it the same guy who was Desmond's army guy?

5. So very tense between Sawyer and Locke. I really thought that Sawyer might get it this episode. Well done.

6. Killing Alex might be the most ballsy death they have done so far. Poor thing hearing Ben's last words to her.

7. Is Desmond on the island on purpose? I mean did Desmond go there originally for Widmore? Remember their scene in the washroom and he was nice to Desmond? Is he using Desmond to save Penny? Does Desmond not remember because his brain got fried?

8. So Sayid is going to have to kill Penny? Is she the Economist?

9. Strange that Ben was allowed into Widmore's room like that.

10. The biggest thing that struck me was the mention of a game. Anyone ever read that site that thinks the whole thing is a game. Is it really a big role playing game between Ben and Widmore?

Yes that whole exchange was interesting and very "game-ish"

I don't like the new time but because of that episode it might have made me go to bed earlier. Had it been on regular time I would have been on the computer very late Instead I went right to bed and just thought about it.

I had typed up a longer post before but my 1 year old came over and she banged the keyboard and I lost it all.
I'm a bad mommy the day after Lost, I'll admit it.

I also thought the comment "he changed the rules" was interesting- not he broke the rules but he changed the rules

The look on Ben's face- the smirk- after he convinced Sayid- Ben is SOOOOO evil!

I thought Claire was going to bite it- I thought her contract was up or something?

Looks like Jack has appendicitis

I heart Bernard!!!

"RE: HOLY COW!"

Yeah I thought Ben could or did that disappear?

12. Upon review of some Lost message boards I must agree that Ben killed Nadia. What motivation would Widmore have to do that?

13. Vincent was in this episode. Does that mean anything?

"RE: HOLY COW!"
Posted by Wacko Jacko on 04-25-08 at 10:22 AM
This was a great episode with one exception...it makes me wonder about Desmond's fate.

If Widmore did in fact have Nadia killed...first off I don't understand why he would have Nadia killed and not Sayid. But later Ben when talking to Sayid calls Desmond 'your buddy Desmond', how does Ben think he will get Sayid to kill Penny if Penny is Desmond's girlfriend? Especially when Sayid says he searched for Nadia for 8 years.....Desmond has pretty much had the same challenge with Penny. The only way I think Sayid would do this is if in fact Penny did something to Desmond. We still haven't seen any Desmond flashforwards.

Widmore...first off I don't understand why he would have Nadia killed and not Sayid.

I think someone was spot on when they said that Ben was the one who had Nadia killed. How else do you recruit the perfect gun-for-hire....one that cannot be killed himself. Sayid has the Island protecting him.

I thought whoever said after the last episode that Ben had sent Alex and company out because he INTENDED for her to get captured to set his game up was a genius. But now I'm not sure Ben is as in control as he thinks he is.

"It's All A Game - Theory"

The biggest thing that struck me was the mention of a game. Anyone ever read that site that thinks the whole thing is a game. Is it really a big role playing game between Ben and Widmore?

While I like this theory, it does seem to go against everything that DL and CC have been saying in their interviews and podcasts. Surely the "it is all a game" is not too far off "it is inside a snow globe" which they have adamantly refused.

However, as many of you have pointed out...the way Ben freaked out over Alex's death and the "he changed the rules" sure is weird. I still want to know at what point did Ben's flash-whatever occur. Did it happen when he went into his saferoom? Could it have been a time-out from the game?

"Eye color change"
Posted by zombiebaby on 04-25-08 at 11:10 AM

Have you ever seen those screen caps of character eye color's changing in different episodes? The game theory is that is when a character is being used by a different player or something like that.

I'm not sure I'm on board with teh whole show is a game thing but it does seem to have merit after this episode.
Also that site mentions the similar names of so many characters:

John/Jack/Jonathan/Nathan
Charlie/Charles/Charlotte
there is a whole list there. If nothing else it is a fascinating read and very involved theory.

"RE: HOLY COW!"
Posted by J I M B O on 04-25-08 at 05:02 PM

Wow. Really great list there!

Regarding the game thing...he also talked to Widmore about the island's location and how he wouldn't find it.

But Widmore's "guy" is the one who shot Alex...so correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that mean it was found?

Or is Ben certain that the people on the boat will all die without communicating their location??

Tangent: this also starts to fill in some of the blanks about why the Oceanic 6 are silent about the other survivors. Not totally, but where I couldn't see any likely scenario that made sense before...now at least there's an inkling.

I'm thinking Lost is like those movies where God and the Devil have made a bet on how many souls each can grab. Ben is God's angel and Widmore is the Devil's demon and the Island is the gameboard.

I'm just making this up as I go...

Did you catch the name Ben used to check into the hotel in Tikrit (or was it Tunisia?). Anyway it was Moriarty- the arch enemy of Sherlock Holmes who finally manages to kill him- or so the readers were led to believe. But then due to reader outrage, it turns out to be a trick and Holmes isn't dead after all.

Also, how come the island protects Ben and maybe Widmore and def Michael, but not Ben's daughter?

The scene in Widmore's hotel room left me with a vision of what one of the final scenes in the series will have to be. Ben says he will kill Widmore's daughter, Penny. I can understand why he feels that way. But that would be flat out wrong.

I think Ben will have to die at the end. Either Penny or Desmond will kill him.
