The game takes place from the point of view of a newly-developed minor character named Elliot. While controlling Elliot, players will have the opportunity to explore rarely seen portions of the island, as well as engaging in tasks such as entering the numbers into the hatch computer. The game's story takes place over seven episodes that span the first two seasons. Like the show, each episode begins with a "previously on" segment.
