Ok, I haven't seen this anywhere else, so I must be mistaken, but as soon as the helmet was pulled off that woman both my husband and I shouted "Holy Crap, is that Sayid's girlfriend!?!"

I thought it looked a hell of a lot like her, leading to the theory that she was working for Penny to find Desmond. In theory she may not even know that Sayid was on that Oceanic flight, so it would be a huge plot twist for them to find each other there. If they kept her alive that long, of course (not more instant killing of new characters please!).

Who did you think it was?

I'm just kidding. I was thinking it was one of Penny's comrades. But Sayid did pop into my mind quickly as well. The thing is, I thought we actually saw Penny on a plane, or ship, or whatever way back when, like she herself was searching for Desmond?

The mystery woman turned out to be Marsha Thomason, whose character is apparently named Naomi. Naomi knew Desmond by sight, and carried a photo of Desmond and Penny in a Portugese copy of Catch-22. Since the two men who detected the island's electromagnetic anomaly in "Live Together, Die Alone" were Portuguese, I have to believe that Naomi is working for Penny, too.
