I've heard people say that the time at which this show is taking place may not necessarily be in the present, in fact, I even think one of the producers may have suggested that? Not sure.

Anyway, I was thinking and it must take place some time around now because of the fact that Ana-Lucia mentioned the fact that one of the Others that infiltrated their camp in "The Other 48 Days" didn't have a cell phone...don't know if there are any other 'clues' anyone may have picked up?

Or, does anybody know for sure what year this show takes place in?

If I had to guess, I'd say right now, but you can never be completely sure.

The various documents that have been seen on the show and have been released would indicate that the crash took place in the fall of 2004. See Sledgeweb's timeline for details.

I can't remember what but there was something in Anna Lucia's backstory that made me think it was recent. I might have to rewatch that episode
