"Character Love List"

Posted by Das Mole on 10-13-05 at 08:28 AM
Well, there's an episode love list, so I thought I'd make a Character Love List Don't know if anyone else already made one of these...sorry if they did (!)

Here's the list of all the characters to rank...I don't know if I missed any (I only did the "main" characters that show up rather frequently)

Jack
Kate
Sawyer
Sayid
Michael
Walt
Locke
Shannon
Jin
Sun
Hurley
Charlie
Claire

Don't know if these should count...

Boone
Rousseau
Ana-Lucia

"PM's list"

1. Sun - I love Sun.
2. Sayid - love his backstory...wouldn't mind getting Lost on an island in the middle of nowhere with him
3. Sawyer - he's just such a complex guy underneath it all
4. Jin - another interesting guy...very interested in learning more about him as the season goes on
5. Locke - he's just so mysterious...how could you NOT love him?
6. Hurley - comic relief and the best one-liners
7. Walt - the kid with the 'special' gift...will be interesting to see what happens to/with him
8. Michael - he's not one of the popular ones, but I really enjoyed his backstory and the whole craziness of what to do with Walt now that he's finally got him is pretty cool
9. Claire - she's cute and charming, but kinda behind the scenes aside from the whole baby thing
10. Charlie - he annoys me quite often, but I do like some of his comic relief moments
11. Shannon - don't know enough about her yet...
12. Jack - kinda boring and whiny
13. Kate - the most uninteresting of all the characters, IMO...I feel like they're trying too hard to 'sell' her backstory or something...I dunno, I just never really liked her

Got blog?

Mostly, this is based on the interesting quotient of their characters.

1. Sayid
2. Jin
3. Sawyer
4. Claire
5. Locke
6. Walt
7. Michael
8. Hurley
9. Kate
10. Jack
11. Sun
12. Shannon
13. Charlie

I don't feel like Charlie, nor Shannon's, characters have much to offer in connecting the interesting backstories of Lost. I might be wrong, though.

I'm not looking forward to adding Ana-Lucia. She's already rubbing me the wrong way. I do like Rousseau, though. Fascinating.

Hey, look how many names I put up at the top...another connection to the numbers? J/k

1. Kate - Love Kate. There's something about the fact that she's running from authority that I just love. I also like how her backstory/flashbacks, and I'm pretty sure it's only her's, I like how her story is able to develop, but the flashbacks actually go backwards in time. Like, you first see her on the plane itself, and then the bank robbery, and then w/Tom...love it.
2. Sun - I love her too. Yunjin Kim is a great actress...I liked watching the first season and seeing the fact that she speaks English being slowly leaked out to more and more people.
3. Sawyer - Complex is right, lol. His story is interesting, and I love when Sawyer says some of the lines he says..."When I say 'Jump', you say?" "YOU FIRST."
4. Sayid - I like Sayid....I don't quite know why, but he's a likable charater.
5. Hurley - Always lightens the mood not only as part of the show itself, as in making people feel better, but for the actual show as well. Take, for example, "Dude, you need to pee on my foot!" It didn't make any characters feel better, necessarily, but it lightened up the show. Things like that are what make him likable. That and the fact that he has such a strong history w/those freaky-a$$ numbers.
6. Jin - Liked seeing his side of the story, w/the bloody shirt and stuff. You know that he's a good man that just can't deal with the pressure, or that he's changed over the years, which is sad in a way. But also what makes me like him.
7. Shannon - Shannon was the first character that I recognized b/c I was playing an ORG and the host had a sig image with Shannon in it. I thought she was one of the main main characters at first, but I was wrong, lol. Shannon is a bit hard to describe because she's a b*tch at times but at the same time, you feel bad for her and that she has to be so defensive.
8. Jack - I like Jack, but sometimes they play up his leadership role a bit too much, I dunno. His story isn't really all too interesting, either. I don't like doctor shows and things like that all too much, nor do I like shows with abusive drunks as fathers.
9. Claire - I like Claire, but don't really have any strong opinions about her.
10. Walt - It's the same as w/Michael below...not very interesting, although the fact that he does have "powers" of some sort is mysterious and you gotta wonder what's up w/that.
11. Locke - I don't really like Locke all too much, but it's not like I hate him or anything. He's kinda weird if you ask me.
12. Charlie - Hasn't really served a purpose other than to be around Claire and to almost die...and to do drugs
13. Michael - Not a very exciting character...I hated the episode "Special", the story was just so dull, there was nothing really interesting at all about it.

Charlie and Michael are the only two characters that I don't really like at all. Everyone else is fine.

As for the other three I mentioned:

Rousseau - I like her. She's somewhat omniscient, which is interesting, because it gives you some more information on what the heck the island is all about.
Boone - Didn't like him, he was irritating.
Ana-Lucia - She's a royal b*tch and I like it! *Rrrr* J/k. I dunno, we'll have to wait and see. She seemed like a normal person in Jack's airport flashback, but...like I said...we'll see.
