If that title looks familiar, it's because we did the same thing over on Forever Eden before it went down. That time, FE was up against a couple of ratings powerhouses: March Madness and an Apprentice episode. This time, Tim & Tom are competing versus ---- CBS sitcom reruns, Rachel Part 2, ABC's 1.13 laughs out of one billion, a Blow Out marathon and, most dangerous of all, the series premiere of I love the 90's on VH1.
In other words, just about nothing.
And yet, the show is losing viewers by the week. Whether it's the boring plotlines, the hyper-obvious scripting of such boring plotlines, the lack of actual talented actors in said boring scripted plotlines, or just that we've been through four shows and no one's been voted off yet, no one's staying tuned. In fact, we may be at the point where the only people watching are those who still have to summarize the show. And if they skip out and just make something up, would anybody be able to tell the difference? (Of course they could. A completely faked show would be interesting.)
So -- let's start the bidding. I'll open at 2.4 million viewers. (2,500 of those will be trapped in the Golden Nugget, which will be showing nothing else.)
You mean besides you and me?I'm starting to think you continue to watch it as some karmic penance for something...and I love you for that.
I'm guessing probably a dozen people on this board watch the show (and that's mostly as background noise by which to organize junk drawers). Same on another board (which I will not name and certainly don't ever read or post to because this board is my one true love).
Extrapolating from that (as a percentage of total members) to the total known tv watching universe, I'd have to guess that about 1,000,024 people will watch tomorrow...plus Estee.
Since it's my turn to recap, I did consider plugging the show on OT just to inflate my own personal audience but decided that would demonstrate a level of DAWness to which I am not willing to sink.

Since it's my turn to recap, I did consider plugging the show on OT just to inflate my own personal audience but decided that would demonstrate a level of DAWness to which I am not willing to sink.On the other hand, the rest of the board may have just forgotten the show exists, and do you really want them to miss this exciting concept? From today's paper:
'The Casino: Tom tries to spice up the nightlife by hosting a fashion show.'
They don't want high-end individual party planners spicing up the nightlife, and they've pretty much ruled out getting high rollers to spice up the table action, plus there's no way anyone's going to stand for The Return Of Big Chuck, so -- let's put on a fashion show! And how about we get Tommy in a bikini brief? Why, this could be the most memorable show of the year?
Stay tuned next week, when Tim decides to spice up the casino's non-gambling income by opening a lemonade stand.
oooh...fashion...
Actually, I like your idea (from the first post) of making up the recap without watching the show. Sounding better and better all the time.![]()
I know the show is still on, I'm just choosing not to watch! I watch the first 1 1/2 episodes and since then, doing laundry has seemed like a better way to spend my Monday nights. Very disappointing cause I had high hopes for the show and really expected to like it. I just wish it was more reality and less scripting! I do see the point though that there is some much going on in a casino, it would be hard for the camera crew to be in the right place at the right time. The bottom line is I like American Casino on Discovery a lot better and I wish this show were more like it!
"Evil" Dr. Will: Reality Show Legend!
i'm going to say 1.7 million.~ cq
![]()
I'd say 1.6 million.
In the great tradition of Forever Eaten, losing a million viewers a week, I vote for 1.4 million. Since it's competeing with "Antiques Roadshow" "Wierd Travels" and "Prisonera" there's lots to choose from... Maybe Clownie wants to set up a "guess the death date" again for valuable prizes?
I can't believe this show is still on the air. What's it at, viewers-wise? Anyone know? Anyone care?![]()
Don't know, don't care!
I watched my first episode last night only because after reading all of the summaries, I had to see if the show was as bad as everyone says. I wasn't disappointed.First, how can Mark Burnett continue to take credit for such a disappointing show.
Second, how can two men that make it rich in the dot.com craze pretty much screw up running a casino?
Third, I thought the pit boss lady was going to quit after Tommy made host but had never performed a "comp" before. Personally, I thought she was the better actress and the show could do better if they focused more on her.
Fourth, $1000 tip to a woman because she brought "luck"? I think he should have given her "at best" $100 and used the other $900 at the Cottontail Ranch. He would at least seen more action.
Finally, Tommy has got to be the biggest idiot around. If Tim, Tom and MB are building their story around him, they need help. 1 month after this show ends, he may be lucky to get to deal cards again. Nobody will admit to remembering him and I definitely will not go out of my way to visit the Golden Nugget the next time I am in Vegas.
Isn't this show fantastic! *drops rock on foot* All the promise of a vintage cadillac, but really just an old flatbed truck sinking in the ooze. From trashy lingerie to bikini bowling to a whorehouse. I sure can't wait for what's after THAT. "Tim and Tom fight because they realize inviting Satan for the weekend was a mistake. He always cheats."
i missed last week, and since the olympics are going to push this to the back burner, and i'm a stoner who can't keep track of dates for anything, i'm sure i'll forget about this show altogether very, very soon.~ cq

Good for you, CQ. As bashworthy as it may be, there are definitely other things to do, and they don't cost two thousand dollars.

I quit long ago and I'm not even a stoner and I can't blame the Olympics.
Miscellaneous Ramblings
--I was really, really looking forward to this one, too. What a total clunker.**edited for a quite/quit error
LAST EDITED ON 08-17-04 AT 12:34 PM (EST)This horrible thing has popped up on my Sunday tv schedule again. Can't it just go away and die, or better yet, be replaced with 'Forever Eden'? Barf. Edited to say: I finally missed it! Didn't watch! Hooray, I am free!
